Commonly Associated <strong>Soils</strong> : Bates, Buckertield, Lickman, Vedder <strong>and</strong> Vye soils are all <strong>of</strong>ten closel y<br />
associated with Kennedy soils . They all differ from Kennedy soils by being silty ra<strong>the</strong>r than s<strong>and</strong>y in texture an d<br />
he in lower l<strong>and</strong>scape positions . Additionally. Buckerfield <strong>and</strong> Vedder soils are poorly drained while Bates an d<br />
Vye soils are imperfectly draine d<br />
Vegetation :<br />
Most Kennedy soil areas are cleared <strong>and</strong> uses er for crop production or farmsteads . Th e<br />
remaining native vegetation includes coast Douglas-fir western red cedar, Sitka spruce, vine <strong>and</strong> bio ea t<br />
maple , red alder <strong>and</strong> various shrubs . Roots penetrate at least to 100 cm dept h<br />

topography With irrigation <strong>and</strong> adequate fertilization, however, most crops can be satisfactory produced .<br />
