These soils have developed from glacial till above elevations o f<br />

700m . Note <strong>the</strong> thick gray, leached horizon under about 8 in . (20 cm)<br />

Cf organic forest litter. The strongly cemented duric layer begins at<br />

about 2.5 ft. (75 cm).<br />

These soils have developed from glacial till similar to that forming <strong>the</strong><br />

parent material <strong>of</strong> Golden Ears soils . They, however, occur in imperfectly<br />

drained areas <strong>and</strong> this is reflected in <strong>the</strong> increased depth o f<br />

organic forest litter. in <strong>the</strong> photo <strong>the</strong> organic material is about 2 ft. (60<br />

cm) thick. The strongly cemented duric layer begins at about 3 ft. (90<br />

cm) .<br />
