Regardless of which bullet collection option you<br />
choose, the problem of lead dust is solved by our<br />
revolutionary <strong>Dust</strong> <strong>Collection</strong> Unit. <strong>The</strong> <strong>DCU</strong> is a<br />
powerful vacuum system that continuously removes<br />
lead dust and other fine airborne particles from inside<br />
the trap.<br />
Because the <strong>DCU</strong> creates a negative pressure<br />
environment in the deceleration chambers, lead dust,<br />
smoke, and other fine particles never have a chance to<br />
escape or settle on the rest of your range.<br />
Our negative pressure vacuum system is superior<br />
to positive pressure or “air barrier” systems for 2<br />
significant reasons. First, an air barrier at the throat<br />
of the trap works both ways. Any dust created on<br />
the funnel plates can be blocked from entering the<br />
deceleration chamber and can be pushed away on to<br />
the range. Second, positive pressure can actually force<br />
dust created inside the chamber back out the throat of<br />
the trap and on to the range. Try blowing a crumpled<br />
paper ball into a glass or a bottle for a compelling<br />
example of this phenomenon.<br />
<strong>The</strong> patented negative pressure <strong>DCU</strong> technology is<br />
unique to <strong>Action</strong> <strong>Target</strong>, and is effective on both indoor<br />
and outdoor ranges. To comply with OSHA regulations<br />
and to protect the surrounding environment, the <strong>DCU</strong><br />
uses its own internal filters to clean the air from the<br />
trap before it is exhausted.<br />

performance characteristics<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>Dust</strong> <strong>Collection</strong> Unit is an air filtration system used in conjunction with <strong>Action</strong> <strong>Target</strong>’s Total Containment Trap (TCT). <strong>The</strong> <strong>DCU</strong> acts as an<br />
active lead accumulation system that captures and removes airborne lead particulates from within the deflection aperture and deceleration<br />
chamber of the TCT.<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>DCU</strong> system employs a containment canister where bullet debris is directed and contained. <strong>The</strong> debris can then be removed for disposal or<br />
recycling. <strong>The</strong> canister is connected to the <strong>DCU</strong> with an air-tight seal. <strong>The</strong> canister comes with a locking lid. After it is filled, the canister can be<br />
removed with the lid secured in place. <strong>The</strong> canister can be emptied and reused or it can be used to contain the lead permanently.<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>DCU</strong> maintains an average airflow rate of at least 150 cfm for every 5’ of linear trap. <strong>The</strong> velocity of the air entering each chamber is<br />
maintained at above 360 fpm through the trap’s opening. <strong>The</strong> filtration section of the <strong>DCU</strong> processes airflow at an efficiency rate exceeding<br />
99.99% on 1 micron particulates and 99.9% on 0.12 micron particulates. <strong>The</strong> <strong>DCU</strong> incorporates a self-monitoring, self-cleaning process. All filter<br />
elements are disposable and have an average life expectancy of 5000 operating hours.<br />
As an optional second stage, a redundant HEPA grade filtration system can be integrated with the <strong>DCU</strong>. <strong>The</strong> HEPA filter can exceed 99.99%<br />
efficiency on 0.12 micron particulates.<br />
