Cougar worldwide—the first college Alumni Association chapter at WSU. “We have a vibrant community of alumni, and we are committed to creating new opportunities for them to connect with the College and with one another,” says CB Dean Eric Spangenberg. “The CB Alumni Chapter offers an important first step to engaging with the University.” Members of the CB Alumni Chapter receive benefits ranging from discounts at retail outlets and restaurants to exclusive networking events and a subscription to Alumni Insider newsletter. A portion of the CB Alumni Chapter membership fee goes to the CB Dean’s Excellence Fund, funding the College’s highest priorities and the fulfillment of its vision to transform student lives. In the future, members may have access to exclusive CB merchandise and electronic communication opportunities. CB Alumni Chapter members can also look forward to special engagement and networking events, and special invitations to CB gatherings. An Expression of Thanks Dear Starwood Foundation, I am writing to thank you for investing in my education through the Starwood Foundation Scholarship. Gratitude is often a difficult thing to express in a letter, yet it is something that individuals attempt to communicate in words every day. In my opinion, there are certain times when there is simply no way to effectively demonstrate the depths of ones gratitude to another, and this is certainly one of those times. I hope to demonstrate my gratitude more effectively through my actions. I say this because when a co-worker congratulated me on the scholarship, I responded, “Yes, I feel quite lucky.” He replied, “Luck is only where opportunity meets preparation.” With my strong passion for learning, I will continue to prepare myself for life’s opportunities, and pursue both the professional and personal goals I have set for myself. I not only want to thank you for recognizing my potential to meet these goals, but more importantly, I am grateful that the Starwood Foundation is genuinely concerned with, and invested in, continued education and professional development.
