ii. The family must be in compliance with the resident obligations<br />

and responsibilities detailed in the Rental Agreement.<br />

iii. The family must be in compliance with the eligible immigration<br />

status requirements.<br />

iv. The family must meet the applicable Social Security number<br />

disclosure, documentation, verification, and Certification<br />

requirements.<br />

v. The family must meet the authorization for the release of<br />

information requirements.<br />

vi. As provided in Section IX of this policy, all non-exempt adult<br />

household members must be in compliance with the<br />

Community Service and Self-Sufficiency Requirement.<br />

1)Non-exempt adult household members who are not in<br />

compliance must enter into a work-out plan with the Site<br />

Manager or vacate.<br />

c. Residents shall be notified in writing of any changes affecting their rent.<br />

Changes in rent shall be effective in accordance with the Master<br />

Reexamination Schedule.<br />

5. Interim Reexaminations<br />

a. Changes in rent occasioned by an Interim Reexamination shall be effective<br />

as follows:<br />

i. A decrease in rent shall be made effective the first day of the month<br />

following the month in which the change in annual income was<br />

ii.<br />

reported by the resident, providing the change has occurred.<br />

An increase in rent shall be made effective the first day of the second<br />

month following the month in which the increase in annual income<br />

occurred. The resident must be given a 30-day notice of rent increase.<br />

b. For interims conducted due to statutory changes in annual income that occur<br />

for all recipients of AFDC, SSI, General Relief, Social Security, or other<br />

similar benefit, the SAHA will conduct a modified interim as long as the<br />

household certifies that there has not been a significant change ($200 per<br />

month) in each of the other reported income sources from the last review.<br />

Modified interims include the completion of an application for continued<br />

occupancy, certified statement from the head of household, accessing of<br />

HUD’s EIV report, and receipt of the public agency’s notice of action or<br />

reduction letter.<br />

F. Resident Misrepresentations<br />

1. In accordance with the Rental Agreement, if a resident’s misrepresentations at<br />

the time of admission, annual, special, or interim reexamination have caused a<br />

family to pay a lower rent than should have been paid, such residents will be<br />

notified in writing and required to pay the difference between the rent paid and<br />

that which should have been paid, retroactive to the date the change in rent<br />

would have been effective.<br />

2. In addition to collecting retroactive rent, SAHA has the right to pursue additional<br />

actions and remedies under the law including terminating the Rental Agreement.<br />

G. Failure to provide reexamination information at the proper time may result in<br />

termination of the Rental Agreement.<br />

XII. COMMUNITY SERVICE AND SELF SUFFICIENCY REQUIREMENT<br />

This section establishes the policy for verification of resident compliance with the requirement for<br />

participation in community service or self-sufficiency programs.<br />
