2. The hardship exemption will begin the month following the request for a hardship exemption<br />
until the end of the qualifying financial hardship<br />
3. The family receiving a financial hardship exemption must notify the <strong>Housing</strong> <strong>Authority</strong> once<br />
there is a change in the family’s income.<br />
4. The family receiving the financial hardship exemption will be subject to Special rent reviews<br />
as set in Section XI, Periodic Examinations.<br />
G. Temporary Financial Hardship<br />
1. If the <strong>Housing</strong> <strong>Authority</strong> determines that the qualifying financial hardship is temporary, the<br />
minimum rent will be reinstated to the beginning of the suspension of the minimum rent<br />
2. The <strong>Housing</strong> <strong>Authority</strong> will offer the family a reasonable repayment agreement for the<br />
amount of back minimum rent owed to the <strong>Housing</strong> <strong>Authority</strong>.<br />
H. Determination of No Financial Hardship<br />
1. If the <strong>Housing</strong> <strong>Authority</strong> determines that there is no financial hardship, the minimum rent is<br />
reinstated from the beginning of the suspension and the family must repay the amount of<br />
back rent owed by the family.<br />
2. The family must sign a repayment agreement on terms established by the <strong>Housing</strong><br />
<strong>Authority</strong> for the amount of back rent accrued during the period of suspension.<br />
I. Duration of Financial Hardship Exemption<br />
1. Financial hardship exemptions are reviewed automatically at the next annual reexamination.<br />
At that time the SAHA must re-determine the family’s composition and income. If the family<br />
remains subject to the minimum rent and the qualifying hardship continues, the financial<br />
hardship exemption continues.<br />
J. Grievance Right<br />
1. If the request for a financial hardship exemption is rejected, the family may request a<br />
hearing under the <strong>Housing</strong> <strong>Authority</strong>’s grievance policy Exhibit :1G<br />
