2. For these applicants, the SAHA will notify the applicant via first class mail that they have 10
working days to reschedule the interview or to provide the requested information. The
applicant will be removed from the waiting list for failure to respond within the specified
period.
3. The SAHA will consider Reasonable Accommodations, and/or mitigating circumstances
when determining to withdraw an application from the waiting list. Under the following
conditions an Applicant or Co-Applicant can be removed from the application:
a. If the individual being removed submits in writing to the Admission Office they would
like their name removed from the application;
b. If information is received that the applicant is deceased.
F. Reinstatement to the Waiting List
1. SAHA will reinstate applicants who have been withdrawn from the waiting list based upon
proof of mitigating circumstances such as health problems or lack of transportation to attend
scheduled interviews.
G. Splitting of an Application
1. At any time before the interview, the Applicant and Co-applicant can split their application
and their place(s) on the waiting list shall be appropriately adjusted.
2. Under no circumstances will an application be split between either the Applicant or Coapplicant
and any other household members.
H. Updating the Waiting List
1. The Authority shall have sole discretion in determining when to update the waiting list.
I. Suspension of Application Taking
1. Any time the number of eligible applicants on the waiting list is such that there is no
reasonable prospect that additional applicants could be housed within the next twenty-four
months, the President/CEO Housing Authority may suspend the taking of further
applications. Such suspension shall be publicly announced. When the decision is made to
resume taking applications, that action shall also be publicly announced.
J. Determination of Eligibility and Notification of Applicants
1. When the family has been selected from the waiting list, the PHA will notify the family by
first class mail. The notice will inform the family of the following:
a. Location of apartments with current vacancies, and the procedures for
scheduling the interview
b. Who is required to attend the interview
c. Documents that must be provided at the interview to document the legal
identity of household members, including information about what
constitutes acceptable documentation
d. Documents that must be provided at the interview to document eligibility
for a preference, if applicable
e. Other documents and information that should be brought to the interview
2. If a notification letter is returned to the PHA with no forwarding address, the family will
be removed from the waiting list without further notice. Such failure to act on the part of
the applicant prevents the PHA from making an eligibility determination; therefore no
informal hearing will be offered.
3. Once SAHA staff have received and verified a complete and full application, the eligibility or
ineligibility of the applicant will be determined.
4. Each applicant determined to be ineligible will be promptly notified in writing by the
Admission Manager that he/she is ineligible. This notice shall advise the applicant:
a. Of the specific grounds for denial of the application;
b. That he/she has a right to request an informal hearing;
