Islamic Perspective In the selection of food and drink, and other consumer products, Islam has laid down 3 very important guidelines: • Whether the consumption of the products are halal (permitted) or haram (prohibited) by Allah S.W.T. • Whether or not the materials are good and safe to be consumed or used by mankind (thoyyib) • Whether the products are obtained through halal or haram means (e.g. source of finance)
