Roads and Maritime Technical Guideline: Environmental<br />

Management <strong>of</strong> Construction Site Dewatering, 2011.<br />

Detail the following in the SWMP as a minimum:<br />

Identification <strong>of</strong> catchment and sub-catchment areas, high<br />

risk areas and sensitive areas<br />

Sizing <strong>of</strong> each <strong>of</strong> the above areas and catchment<br />

The likely volume <strong>of</strong> run-<strong>of</strong>f from each road sub-catchment<br />

Direction <strong>of</strong> flow <strong>of</strong> on-site and <strong>of</strong>f-site water<br />

Separation <strong>of</strong> on-site and <strong>of</strong>f-site water<br />

The direction <strong>of</strong> run-<strong>of</strong>f and drainage points during each<br />

stage <strong>of</strong> construction<br />

Dewatering plan which includes process for monitoring,<br />

flocculating and dewatering water from site (ie formation or<br />

excavations)<br />

A mapped plan identifying the above<br />

Include progressive site specific Erosion and Sedimentation<br />

Control Plans (ESCPs). The ESCP is to be updated at least<br />

fortnightly<br />

A process to routinely monitor the Bureau <strong>of</strong> Meteorology<br />

weather forecast<br />

Preparation <strong>of</strong> a wet weather (rain event) plan which includes<br />

a process for monitoring potential wet weather and<br />

identification <strong>of</strong> controls to be implemented in the event <strong>of</strong><br />

wet weather. These controls are to be shown on the ESCPs<br />

Provision <strong>of</strong> an inspection and maintenance schedule for<br />

ongoing maintenance <strong>of</strong> temporary and permanent erosion<br />

and sedimentation controls.<br />

Note: the plan would be provided to Roads and Maritime for<br />

<strong>review</strong> and verification prior to starting construction.<br />
