Due to just under half of the committee in attendance today,
the eleótion of chair and vice chair will be deferred untilthe
next meeting. lt was pointed out that if anyone would like to
nominate a member or take on these positions to email Kevin
Poole.
INDUSTRIAL LANDS
COOPERAT¡ON
MEMORANDUM OF
UNDERSTANDING
The City of Vernon is proposing a regional approach to
encouráging new industrial development. A Memorandum of
Understãndìng for industrial cooperation has been presented
to each of thJregional communities to bring foruvard to their
respective Counóil's for ratification. The City of Vernon is
proþosing one-year of free service to build relationships and
irust w1hin the iegion. The program will be reviewed after one
year by both the õity anO the regional partners to discuss what
L *otúing, what needs improvement and if any financial
commitments should be made'
The expectation is that the City of Vernon's EDO will work with
so they know what lands are available in the
"ompanies region as opposeo to.¡ust Vernon. The communities will
prõvide assistance wiih identifying lands, zoning and other
regulations.
NEW BUSINESS:
PRESENTAT¡ON
A Power Point presentation was viewed by the group outlining
the Economic Development function and goals for promoting
Vernon as an ideal place for business investment'
The presentation was viewed by the chamber of commerce
at thäir AGM, and various other groups in the community
outlining where things are at now and where we are headed in
the future.

STRATEGY UPDATE
PROJECT UPDATE
Lions Gate Consulting has been hired by the city to create an
Economic Development strategy, which will guide the efforts
of the function. Tire EDO has sent out over 200 invitations to
attend ten sector specific focus groups. To date, we are
anticipating over 1ô0 people.,to attend the workshops to be
held on December 3td and 4tn,2009-
