The Anetheum, New Harmony, Indiana, Richard Meier, 1981
In Meier’s context-driven assemblage, the
Anetheum’s river face is made of curved glass,
Single sheet of glass spans from first
floor to the underside of the second
floor ceiling, almost 30 feet, with no
aluminum mullions!
6

The glass mullion
is approx. 18” deep
and about as thick
as a quarter, about
3/4”
The mullion is wedged into a top and
bottom channel anchored to the
structure. This is a view into the top
channel from below
Once the rubber wedges have the glass mullion properly
positioned, the channel is filled with black silicone sealant to
prevent debris from falling into the channel.
The glass mullions are adhered to the glass
lites with black silicone sealant / adhesive.
This leaves a clean, precise black line and
acts as the structural connector between the
lite and the mullion.
