Craft-Making Demonstration and Performances
Call for Abstracts
Now on its fourth year, the DLSU Arts Congress (DAC) has become a venue for educators, students,
artists, and scholars in various disciplines to share their ideas and works on Philippine arts and culture.
Consistent with its inclusive theme, “Culture and Arts in Nation Building, DAC 2011 will accept papers on
the more specific topics of:
Culture, Arts and the Filipino Nationhood;
Nationhood and Multiculturalism;
Culture, Arts and Conflict Resolution;
Philippine Culture and Arts in the Ages of Technology and Globalization;
Business and Economic Aspects of Philippine Culture and Arts; and
Other similar topics.
Abstract Submission:
Paper and poster presentations are welcome. Submission of an abstract is required. Use the
given format for paper and poster presentations (See below for the Abstract Submission Form).
On the form provided, please indicate whether the presentation is paper or poster.
All abstracts must be written in English or Filipino and submitted electronically
(artscongress@dlsu.edu.ph). Faxed submissions will not be accepted.
Prepare your abstract as an MS Word document (.doc file format) consisting of 300-500 words
using Arial 11-point font typed in letter-sized page, with one-inch margins on all sides. The
abstract MUST BE in TEXT ONLY without graph or table, and should contain a title, name/s of
author/s (underline the name of the presenting author), department/s and address/es.
Abstracts for paper and poster presentations must contain a brief introductory statement of the
research and continue with the summary of the results obtained, followed by a conclusion(s). It is
not acceptable to say “the results will be discussed.” The abstract must also include a list of key
bibliographic sources.
Standard abbreviations should be used throughout the text. Any special or unusual abbreviation
should be spelled out in full at first mention, followed by the abbreviation in parentheses. Please
use a minimal number of abbreviations.
Symbols (i.e. Greek) can be used as well as boldfaced, underlined and italicized characters.
Include acknowledgements of the source(s) of research support (if any) on the bottom line of the
abstract.
Check the abstract carefully for grammatical or typographical errors.
Upon submission, you will receive an email confirmation with an abstract reference number.
Please use this number in all future correspondence with respect to your abstract.
If the abstract of the paper is accepted, the author has until January 14, 2011 to submit the final
manuscript, which will be published in the conference proceedings. If the paper is not submitted
by the said date, only the abstract will be included in the proceedings.

Call for Artworks
The Fourth DLSU Arts Congress will include a two day exhibit of artworks in coordination with the DLSU
Museum.
Exhibit Proposal Submission:
Submission of exhibit proposals in the genres of painting, sculpture, photography, small
installation art, printed digital art, and framed poems are welcome. Submission of a high
resolution photograph is required. On the form provided (See below for the Exhibit Proposal
Submission Form), please indicate the genre of the artwork.
Only exhibit proposals containing a portfolio of at least five pieces will be accepted.
All exhibit proposals, together with their respective photographs, must be submitted
electronically (artscongress@dlsu.edu.ph). Faxed submissions will not be accepted.
Upon submission, you will receive an email confirmation with an exhibit proposal reference
number. Please use this number in all future correspondence with respect to your exhibit
proposal.
If the exhibit proposal is accepted, the artist will turn over the artworks to the DLSU College of
Liberal Arts on February 2, 2011. If the artworks are not turned over on the said date, the artist
forfeits his/her chance of joining the exhibit.
The artist must retrieve the artworks from the DLSU College of Liberal Arts on the evening of
February 17, 2011.

Call for Craft-Making Demonstrations
The Fourth DLSU Arts Congress will include craft-making demonstrations that would include novel
techniques in the genres of painting, sculpture, photography, small installation art, and printed digital art.
Some of the concurrent sessions of the said Congress will be devoted to these demonstrations.
Craft-Making Demonstration Proposal Submission:
Submission of craft-making demonstration proposals are welcome. Submission of a five-minute
video clip is required.
For easier transmission of video clips, the secretariat of the Fourth DLSU Arts Congress requires
them to be uploaded to the Youtube.
All craft-making demonstration proposals (See below for the Craft-Making Demonstration
Proposal Submission Form), together with their respective youtube links, must be electronically
(artscongress@dlsu.edu.ph). Faxed submissions will not be accepted.
Upon submission, you will receive an email confirmation with a craft-making demonstration
proposal reference number. Please use this number in all future correspondence with respect to
your craft-making demonstration proposal.
If the craft-making demonstration proposal is accepted, the proponent is required to signify
his/her intention to join the said Congress on or before January 14, 2011. If the proponent fails to
signify his/her intention, he/she forfeits his/her chance of joining the Congress.

Call for Performances
The Fourth DLSU Arts Congress will include of performances in the genres of dance, music, poetry
reading, theatrical clips, and mixed genres. This will be held on the evening of February 16, 2011, the
first day of the said Congress.
Performance Proposal Submission:
Submission of performance proposals are welcome. Submission of a two to five-minute video clip
is required.
For easier transmission of video clips, the secretariat of the Fourth DLSU Arts Congress requires
them to be uploaded to the Youtube.
All performance proposals (See below for the Performance Proposal Submission Form), together
with their respective youtube links, must be electronically (artscongress@dlsu.edu.ph). Faxed
submissions will not be accepted.
Upon submission, you will receive an email confirmation with a peformance proposal reference
number. Please use this number in all future correspondence with respect to performance
proposal.
If performance proposal is accepted, the proponent is required to signify his/her intention to join
the said Congress on or before January 14, 2011. If the proponent fails to signify his/her
intention, he/she forfeits his/her chance of joining the Congress’ Performance Evening.
