He will cover projects investigating tactile and haptics interfaces, deformable computing devices, augmented reality interfaces and novel touch sensing techniques, as well as biologically-inspired and 3D-printed interfaces, among others. Brett Lambert will discuss how the Department of Defense plans to implement additive manufacturing in the future. Michael f. Molnar, Chief Manufacturing Officer, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) The presentation will cover both projects conducted while at Sony Corporation and more recent research efforts in the Interaction Group at Walt Disney Research, Pittsburgh. Mike Molnar will discuss the importance of additive manufacturing in US commerce now and in the future, as well as his vision of manufacturing in our economy. edward Morris, Director, National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute (NAMII) Ed Morris will provide an introduction to the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute (NAMII), which is working to transform the US manufacturing sector and yield significant advancements throughout the industry. 30 sme.org/rapid

NAMII Roadmap Overview 9:30 am Wednesday, June 12 8–9 am Additive Manufacturing: State of the Industry Terry Wohlers, President, Wohlers Associates Be among the first to see and learn about NAMII’s roadmap. Rob Gorham, Deputy Director of Technology for NAMII, will present the initial work, how it was designed and the plan moving forward for the Institute. Additive manufacturing and 3D printing are taking the world by storm, while gaining the attention of the largest and most respected corporations and publications. New machines, applications, and markets are developing like never before. Wohlers will discuss some of these developments and report industry growth figures, estimates, and forecasts.
