2. An illicit drug is any drug that has not been prescribed for the user. This includes illegal drugs, volatile substances, and inappropriate use of over the counter medicines.<br />

3. At least one drug has been reported in the illicit drug profile.<br />

4. The <strong>Scotland</strong> figure includes all clients reported to the Scottish <strong>Drug</strong>s <strong>Misuse</strong> Database.<br />

5. Clients with no fixed abode or where NHS board or council area is not known.<br />

6. Difference is standard error x t-value; mean +/- difference gives 95% confidence limits for true mean value (see Annex B1.4 for further explanation).<br />

z Figures not shown where the number of patients/clients in an area < 40 and the number of clients in any one category < 5.<br />
