2 Estimates are based on a sample of 47, 44 and 44 PTI practices which collected and submitted complete GP data for the years ending 31 March 2004, 2005 and 2006,
respectively.
Caution must be exercised in interpreting data on trends.
Although PTI is generally representative in terms of age, sex, deprivation and urban/rural mix, it may not be as representative in terms of numbers of patients with drug misuse. This
is because there can be wide variation in numbers of drug misusing patients in different practices.
