Introduction
Welcome to Travis Perkins’ sheet materials product guide. This
guide is designed to show the full range of sheet materials that
Travis Perkins’ branches have on offer.
Travis Perkins have a long established history in dealing with
timber and sheet materials and have always been in a leading
market position offering quality products, sourced responsibly.
At Travis Perkins we pride ourselves in creating long term
relationships with panel product manufacturers across the
globe, and this has helped us to establish consistent quailty
and supply.
Quality standards are set high. Suppliers are assessed by
the Travis Perkins Quality Assurance team to ensure that our
products are manufactured in a responsible and sustainable
manner. We also work closely with our suppliers to ensure they
adhere to all local laws and comply with the standards and
ethics that Travis Perkins, as a leading UK company, require.
Core products within the Travis Perkins sheet material range
are kept in stock across all our branch network. For any
products that are not immediately available from stock,
including all specialist products, we will aim to have them in
branch within 24 to 48 hours.
Wood is the only true renewable building material. Wood
naturally locks in carbon, keeping it out of the atmosphere.
Controlled properly, using the right forestry schemes, wood is a
totally sustainable product.
Responsible Purchasing
Looking after our planet is a high priority on most people’s
agenda, at Travis Perkins we strive to ensure that all our wood
based sheet materials are from environmentally responsible
sources. In most cases this will mean that we adopt a third
party certification scheme to ensure that all the proper and
appropriate procedures are being adhered to. The vast majority
of sheet materials Travis Perkins purchase are approved by
either the PEFC or FSC® schemes.
FSC: Forest Stewardship Council
PEFC: Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification
Chain of Custody
• System used to keep track of wood products from the
forest to the Travis Perkins’ branch.
• Independently audited.
• Verified by individual certificate numbers as each party
transfers wood to the next part of the chain.
• All Travis Perkins’ branches have Chain of Custody
certification for both PEFC and FSC.
• Gives confidence of a legal source and traceability all the
way back to the forest.
• Without Chain of Custody certification the link is broken and
you cannot be confident that the sheet materials you have
purchased have followed the correct legal procedures.
The EU Timber Regulation
From March 3rd 2013 the EUTR will become law within the
European Union market.
All timber products coming into the UK will need to be able
to prove legality. By way of purchasing responsibly and using
due diligence certification schemes, you can have confidence
that all sheet materials supplied by Travis Perkins are legally
sourced.
