Leak Detection<br />
The FLASHdetector series of optical leak detection equipment is designed to locate energy leaks<br />
in fiber optic systems. These energy or light leaks can be caused by splice loss, connector loss, breaks<br />
in the fiber or excessive bending. Detecting signals as low as -65 dBm, the probe is more sensitive<br />
than most visible lasers and is virtually unaffected by room light. All FLASHdetector sets include<br />
a probe unit, light source, AC wall pack, hard sided waterproof case and instruction manuals.<br />

Visual Fault Locator (VFL) #0705-7080<br />
KITCO’s new Visual Fault Locator (VFL) is an ideal tool to aid in identifying broken fiber optic<br />
cables and fiber optic cables with excessive bends. The VFL can also be used to perform continuity<br />
checks and aid in the successful termination of pre-stub (pre-polished) fiber optic connectors. The<br />
universal adapter accepts any 2.5mm ferrule, allowing 650mm laser light to be injected into a fiber.<br />
This light enables breaks or sharp bends in a cable to be identified 6-7 km away on singlemode<br />
and 4-5 km away on multimode fiber.<br />

The 0705-5520 Optical Power Meter is a rugged high quality general-purpose instrument suitable<br />
for many fiber optic measurement applications. Paired with one of the LED sources (#0705-5511<br />
or #0705-5512) this optical power meter is ideal for insertion loss testing of multimode and singlemode<br />
fiber optic cables and connectors. The 0705-5520 optical power meter can also be used for<br />
link loss testing of installed cable harnesses. The 0705-5520 optical power meter simplifies output<br />
power measurements of transmitters and other light sources. The four calibration wavelengths,<br />
1mm indium-gallium-arsenide (InGaAs) photodetector, and wide dynamic range make the 0705-<br />
5520 optical power meter suitable for measuring the output of both LED and laser based transmitters.<br />
In addition, a broad range of Snap-On Connector (SOC) adapters for both industry standard<br />
fiber optic connectors and many less common types, makes the 0705-5520 an indispensable tool<br />
