other art form boasts <strong>of</strong> it. culture comes<br />

in superstructure which is always largely<br />

Pallav—What are you at these days....<br />

apart from cursing?<br />

Swayam Prakash—I am writing funny<br />

stories for kids. This is something which<br />

I never did. And believe me, I am enjoying.<br />

Swayam Prakash : born 1947, is a prominent progressive author,<br />

critic and literary activist. Mechanical engineer by pr<strong>of</strong>ession, he gives<br />

a cautious craft to his novels and short stories. He writes about the<br />

common man and his struggles. His famous short stories are–Kya tumne<br />

kabhi sardar bhikhari dekha hai, Partition, Admi jaat ka Admi, Taza<br />

khabar and Manju Faltu. He has written ‘hamsafarnama’ which portrays<br />

his contemporary writers as his comrades. He lives in Bhopal.<br />

Pallav, born 1977 teaches in <strong>Hindi</strong> Deptt. <strong>of</strong> Hindu College, Delhi<br />

University. He is specially involved with criticism <strong>of</strong> contemporary<br />

fiction. Has published his first book <strong>of</strong> literary criticism, Kahani ka<br />

loktantra. He lives in Delhi.<br />
