Nuccio’s Pizza Parlor
When I was a kid growing up,
Friday night was Pizza Night. It was a
family “routine” for my parents, two
brothers, and I to go to our favorite
Pizza Parlor, and get the traditional,
round, thin crust version, or the infamous
“Sicilian”, square, thick crust, pizza. I
was reminded of “pizza night” when we
arrived at Nuccio’s Pizza Parlor last
Friday night.
Having been established for less
then one year, this well kept secret on
the southeast corner of Lyons Road, and
Lantana Road, just can’t be kept a secret
any longer.
Pizza is king here, of course.
Although it was a difficult decision
between the pizza or the calzones
available.
Pizza is available in 14” or 16”
sizes, and the Sicilian comes in a
massive 17”x17”. You can create your
own combinations, and all of them will
feature a crispy crust that I look for in a
good pizza. The two pies my party
ordered were perfectly cooked with a
golden, crispy, crust. The sauce was
flavorful, and the
toppings were
generous.
Turn the menu
over and you'll
find other “pizza parlor” selections such
as stromboli, calzones, pasta, and hot
and cold submarine sandwiches on nice
Italian bread.
Everything I tasted here was good.
The ricotta, mozzarella, and romano
calzone, for instance, did not have that
“precooked” or “reheated” taste. It was
evident that the calzone was created
moments before. In addition to pizza,
Nuccio’s features flavorful pasta
selections as well. The tomato sauce
here is very good, which says a lot
about a pizzeria.
Save room for dessert. Delicious
desserts such as tiramisu and cannoli are
family recipes. There's also free delivery
for folks who live nearby. ($10.00
minimum.)
I finally found it! Nothing
pretentious. Nothing fancy. My Friday
night Pizza haunt.
