CONTINUING EDUCATION<br />
NON-ACADEMIC COURSES<br />
The Continuing Education courses are open to interested persons without formal admission to the<br />
college. Generally, there are no entrance requirements. Course descriptions include prerequisites when<br />
appropriate.<br />
BOOKS AND MATERIALS<br />
Instructors will discuss materials and textbooks during<br />
the first class session. Books are available through the<br />
college bookstore located in the Student Center or<br />
at <strong>Kilgore</strong> <strong>College</strong> Longview for Longview classes<br />
only. Some courses listed in the class schedule do not<br />
require textbooks or supplies. Supplies and texts are<br />
not included in the course fees unless stated in the<br />
course description. Books or supplies should not be<br />
purchased until you know exactly what the instructor<br />
will require.<br />
CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS<br />
(CEUs)<br />
In compliance with guidelines from the Southern<br />
Association <strong>of</strong> <strong>College</strong>s and Schools, <strong>Kilgore</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />
awards Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to students<br />
successfully completing various noncredit courses<br />
sponsored by the college. A CEU is <strong>of</strong>ficially defined<br />
as “ten contact hours <strong>of</strong> participation in an organized<br />
continuing education adult or extension experience<br />
under responsible sponsorship, capable direction and<br />
qualified instruction.” The student should not interpret<br />
the CEU as a substitute for college credit. The CEU is a<br />
means <strong>of</strong> recording and accounting for various continuing<br />
education activities that a student has completed.<br />
GED<br />
Preparation for the GED (General Education<br />
Development) examination is <strong>of</strong>fered to all adults ages 18<br />
and older at no cost. GED classes are available at many<br />
sites in Gregg, Rusk and Upshur Counties, as well as the<br />

ESL<br />
Learn to read, write, speak and understand English by<br />
enrolling in ESL classes that are <strong>of</strong>fered to all adults age<br />

CLASS AND REFUNDS<br />
To withdraw formally from a<br />
Continuing Education class, a<br />
student must contact the center<br />
where the course is <strong>of</strong>fered,<br />
either by phone or in person<br />
during working hours. Our<br />
phone numbers are listed under<br />
“3 Easy Ways to Register”.<br />
Mailed notification will be<br />
accepted and the postmark date<br />
will be the effective date for<br />
refunding. Refunds will be mailed<br />
within four to six weeks following<br />

<strong>of</strong> operation for both locations<br />
appear under “3 Easy Ways to<br />

Students may have one transfer<br />
to another continuing education<br />
course prior to the second class<br />
meeting date. Any transfers must<br />

KILGORE COLLEGE CONTINUING EDUCATION<br />
One <strong>of</strong> the primary missions <strong>of</strong> <strong>Kilgore</strong> <strong>College</strong> Continuing Education and Workforce Development<br />
is to provide opportunities for the life-long learning for adults in the community. Continuing Education<br />
and Workforce Development non-credit courses are designed with many different goals in mind.<br />
