• Graduates from the Branch of Geo<strong>in</strong>formatical<br />
Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g can spatially locate and map natural<br />
and artificial configurations, set out designed<br />
eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g structures, determ<strong>in</strong>e deformations<br />
of erected constructions, develop<br />
control po<strong>in</strong>t networks, perform astronomical<br />
and gravitational measurements and determ<strong>in</strong>e<br />
the Earth‘s geodynamical processes. Graduates<br />
<strong>in</strong> survey<strong>in</strong>g eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g can design and manage<br />
economic solutions for geodesic problems<br />
at a high eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g level. They can also develop<br />
relevant technologies and perform significant<br />
scientific research.<br />
Erasmus Mundus Master Course: EURO-Aquae<br />
EURO-Aquae: Euro Hydro Informatics and Water<br />
Management. The Master Course is supported by<br />
the European Commission Directorate General for<br />
Education and Culture through the actions 1&2<br />
of the Erasmus Mundus framework. The partner<br />
universities issue the M.Sc. (Master of Science)<br />
academic degree accord<strong>in</strong>g to the local situation.<br />
The degree is recognized by all participat<strong>in</strong>g countries.<br />
The consortium tries to establish a jo<strong>in</strong>t<br />
european degree named “Master of Science <strong>in</strong><br />
Hydro-Informatics & Water Management”.<br />
Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences<br />
General Information<br />
The Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences was<br />
established <strong>in</strong> 1998 <strong>in</strong> the framework of a restructur<strong>in</strong>g<br />
project of BME. On one hand the University<br />
returned to its historical traditions: as one of the<br />
educational tasks of the former József Nádor University<br />
of Technical and Economic Studies was to<br />
provide high quality tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g for future economists.<br />
On the other hand for meet<strong>in</strong>g the rapidly<br />
chang<strong>in</strong>g requirements of contemporary economy<br />
the scope of tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g at the University has been<br />
strengthened fundamentally by the <strong>in</strong>troduction<br />
programs <strong>in</strong> Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g Management as well as<br />
<strong>in</strong> Bus<strong>in</strong>ess Management.<br />
The total number of students of different graduate,<br />
postgraduate and distance learn<strong>in</strong>g forms of<br />
tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g launched by the Faculty is about 5000. Research<br />
is conducted <strong>in</strong> 3 doctorate (Ph.D.) schools.<br />
Due to the multidiscipl<strong>in</strong>ary nature of the University,<br />
science and eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g subjects for future<br />
economists are taught by the staff of different eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g<br />
faculties as well as the subjects of the Faculty<br />
of Economic and Social Sciences’ are present <strong>in</strong><br />
the educational programs of all other faculties.<br />
Parallel to the traditional five-year university<br />
tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g, <strong>in</strong> 2006 accord<strong>in</strong>g to the Bologna model,<br />
the two-cycle system (for B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees)<br />
was <strong>in</strong>troduced at the Faculty. The f<strong>in</strong>al<br />
year of graduation for students of the traditional<br />
five-year tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g is scheduled for 2010. The language<br />
of the above programs is Hungarian but<br />
both full time <strong>in</strong>ternational and exchange students<br />
of the University have the possibility to study<br />
different subjects <strong>in</strong> bus<strong>in</strong>ess and economics <strong>in</strong><br />
English. Hungarian and Central European Studies,<br />
Hungarian as a foreign language courses are also<br />
offered.<br />
<strong>Degree</strong> programs <strong>in</strong> English will start <strong>in</strong> 2007/<br />
2008 academic year.<br />
B.Sc. program <strong>in</strong> Bus<strong>in</strong>ess and Management<br />
will start <strong>in</strong> 2008/2009 academic year.<br />
From 2008 a full-time B.Sc. program <strong>in</strong> Bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />
and Management <strong>in</strong> English is to be <strong>in</strong>troduced.<br />
Faculty of Electrical Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g<br />
and Informatics<br />
The Faculty of Electrical Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g founded <strong>in</strong><br />
1949 has been renowned for excellence <strong>in</strong> research<br />
and education throughout the years of<br />
changes <strong>in</strong> the scope of eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g. Over this<br />
period, the Faculty has earned a wide-spread <strong>in</strong>ternational<br />
reputation for its high academic standards<br />
and scientific achievements. Spearhead<strong>in</strong>g<br />
the movement to establish a modern education<br />
system, it has offered a comprehensive English<br />
curriculum s<strong>in</strong>ce 1992. Nearly the same time, the<br />
name of the Faculty changed to Faculty of Electri-
