Membership The company is a company limited by guarantee and is without share capital. The number of members as at 30 June 2011 and the comparison with last year is as follows: 2011 2010 RSL Member 274 293 Associate Member 15,282 16,756 Life Member 6 ______________ 5 _____________ 15,562 17,054 ______________ _____________ Members' limited liability In accordance with the Constitution of the company, every member of the company undertakes to contribute an amount limited to $3 per member in the event of the winding up of the company during the time that he is a member or within one year thereafter. Operating result The net profit from continuing operations before tax for the year amounted to $557,598 compared with a profit of $1,078,874 for the prior year. This resulted after charging $1,094,758 (2010: $1,050,506) for depreciation and before charging $41,937 (2010: $73,718) for income tax. Objectives To provide quality facilities and services of a licensed club for members and their guests in a sustainable manner, both now and into the future. To promote the objects of the Returned and Services League of Australia and support local community organisations and activities. Short term Maintain membership and increase club attendances. Improve efficiency and profitability of club operations. Ensure premises are well maintained and provide a high level of customer service. Long term To continue to develop services and facilities that are relevant to the members' expectations and that are attractive to new markets. Ensure sustainable practices and policies in terms of energy and resource usage. Maintain financial prudence to enhance stability. Strategy for achieving the objectives The Club undertakes strategic planning reviews, including governance, operational, marketing, demographic and community issues in determining both long and short term policy and procedures. Principal activities The principal activity of the company during the year consisted of the conduct and promotion of a licensed social club for members of the company. There have been no significant changes in the nature of these activities during the year. How these activities assist in achieving the objectives Operating the licensed social club to generate the revenue and cash flows to achieve our objectives. Performance measurement and key performance indicator The club reviews performance against set budgets and benchmarking data utilising ratios such as EBITDA, gross profit, wages and cash flow values, as well as visitation, area utilisation and customer survey/feedback trends. Auditor’s Independence Declaration A copy of the auditor’s independence declaration as required under Section 307C of the Corporations Act 2001 is set out on page 15.
