Sarawak Sports Council<br />
continues to produce successful<br />
sports athletes<br />
Sarawak’s unique ability to<br />
produce natural sportsmen and<br />
sportswomen is once again evident<br />
by the achievements of athletes at the<br />
recent SEA Games in Sumatra, Indonesia<br />
from 11 th to 22 nd November 2011. Diver<br />
Pandelela Renong, Shooter Bibiana Ng,<br />
Cyclist Josiah Ng and Squash Player, Mohd<br />
Aslan Iskandar were winners in their<br />
respective events; all are Sarawakians and<br />
many budding ones are coming up as<br />
evident in the SUKMA Games last year.<br />
With the support from the Sarawak Sports<br />
Council and corporate bodies, the state is<br />
bound to remain among the forefront of<br />
sportsmen and sportswomen in the nation.<br />
Cyclist Josiah Ng<br />
represented Malaysia<br />
at the Commonwealth<br />
Games in New Delhi,<br />
India in 2010 and won<br />
1Gold,1 Silver and 1<br />
Bronze, winning another<br />
Silver at the 16 th Asian<br />
Games Guangzu, China.<br />
Awarded as Malaysian<br />
Olympian and Sportsman of Year in 2004.<br />
He will be aiming for Gold in the London<br />
Olympics this year. <br />
Bibiana Ng<br />
won Gold for<br />
Malaysia in the Air<br />
Pistol event at the<br />
Commonwealth<br />
Games in New Delhi, India in 2010 as well<br />
as 2 Silvers and 2 Bronzes from previous<br />
Commonwealth Games.<br />
Pandelela Renong won<br />
Malaysia’s first aquatic Gold in<br />
Diving at the Commonwealth<br />
Games in New Delhi, India in 2010<br />
as well as a Silver medal. She also<br />
won a Bronze in the Youth Mini<br />
Olympic 2010 and is another<br />
medal hopeful at London’s<br />
Olympic Games later this year.<br />
Mohd. Azlan Iskandar<br />
represented Malaysia in squash at the Asian<br />
Games in Guanzhou, China in 2010 and<br />
was a 3-time winner of the Malaysian Open<br />
event. He had a remarkable 2010 with his<br />
squash achievements; where his ranking<br />
soared to World top 10 from World No. 18.<br />
Azlan’s achievement has put Sarawak on the<br />
world stage and he is the first Asian man to<br />
make it to Commonwealth Games Semis.<br />
