Modern living is a question of the right system.

How we ventilate is how we live. 

Our houses used to breathe through unsealed 

gaps in windows and doors. However, modern 

or renovated building shells are air-tight. 

On the one hand this is desired, because it 

minimises the amount of wasted energy. On 

the other hand, it has become more difficult 

to ventilate modern homes properly just by 

opening the window. Either the quantity or 

the duration of ventilation is excessive, cancelling 

out any energy savings. Or the house 

is ventilated too little, damaging the health 

of the inhabitants and the structure of the 

building. What is to be done? 

In order to reconcile energy efficiency with 

a sufficient supply of fresh air, the building 

shell must be seen as a whole. This holistic 

view is SIEGENIA-AUBI’s great advantage. 

With our goal of adding functionality to 

windows and doors and creating light, airy, 

and welcoming rooms, we develop innovative 

and complete solutions with our partners for 

window and door fittings and ventilation and 

building technology. 

In this brochure we want to present our 

wall-mounted and window-mounted ventilators 

to architects, building owners, window 

installers and end users. Our innovations in 

heat recovery and filter technology are of 

particular importance.

It’s no secret that you need to ventilate.

Controlled ventilation for an indoor 

environment that is positive in every way. 

A well controlled, healthy indoor environment 

performs several tasks at the same time. 

It doesn’t just support our well-being and 

productivity, it also offers lasting protection 

to the building structure from humidity and 

mould. Intelligent solutions are needed to 

satisfy energy concerns in the ventilation 

of buildings. This is because conventional 

window ventilation is reaching its limit. 

The use of controlled ventilation technology 

also offers real advantages in protection 

from intruders. 

Effective protection from mould, damage 

caused by humidity and safety hazards. 

Healthy fresh air without harmful 

substances or noise. 

Truly cost effective and sustainably 

energy efficient. 

Protecting the building structure from mould 

and damage caused by humidity requires 

sufficient ventilation – not always a matter 

of course with building shells that are increasingly 

air-tight. It is neither reasonable 

to expect nor possible in practice for 

a tenant, for example, to open all windows 

several times a day. According to current 

law, the landlord is responsible for ensuring 

that sufficient ventilation is possible, such as 

installing decentralised ventilation units. 

This is not only effective protection against 

damage to the building structure. Ventilating 

with closed windows – instead of tilted or 

even open windows – increases protection 

against break-ins. 

Your well-being, productivity and quality 

of life are all influenced by the air. A lower 

CO 2 

level helps concentration. 

An optimal relative humidity of 40–60 % 

keeps bacteria, viruses and mould at bay. 

The damage caused by fine dust, fumes 

and pollen can also be kept in check with 

the right technology. 

However, protection from noise is always 

a must for a truly untroubled feel-good atmosphere. 

The continually increasing noise 

pollution from road, rail and air traffic is 

today the number 1 stress factor. Insomnia, 

heart and digestion troubles and even 

deafness are possible consequences. 

With the new German energy saving regulations 

(EnEV) and the energy performance 

certificate, the goal of a large reduction in 

the energy consumption of buildings was 

clearly set. 

This is possible with well insulated and 

particularly air-tight building shells, which 

considerably reduce heat loss and heating 

costs as a result. But even controlled ventilation 

technology using window-mounted and 

wall-mounted ventilators is a deciding factor 

here. This is because exchanging the air conventionally 

by opening the window will very 

quickly cancel out the saved heating energy. 

For this reason, many incentive programmes 

also support the installation of energy-efficient 

ventilation devices in many cases.

or visually striking, our ventilation systems 

are more than just powerful. They are exceptionally 

versatile and flexible, thanks to their 

modular design. This allows even the most 

demanding and unusual of projects to be 

realised exactly as planned. 

Energy efficient ventilation. 

The best example of the possibilities and 

advantages of intelligent ventilation technology 

is heat recovery. Here, it is ultimately 

all about a good exchange. The heat in the 

used exhaust air is transferred to the inflowing 

fresh air through a special heat exchanger, 

allowing the fresh air to be pre-heated. This 

supports a healthy living environment and 

provides lasting protection for the building 

while saving energy efficiently in line with 

the German energy saving regulation EnEV. 

Active or passive ventilators? 

A fundamental property of a window-mounted 

ventilator is its classification as an active or 

passive ventilator. A passive device (without 

a fan) is based on the natural pressure 

differential between cooler outer air and the 

heated, used air in the room and ensures 

a controlled exchange of air. Where there 

is an artificially created pressure differential 

due to centralised or decentralised ventilation 

(e.g. in the kitchen or bathroom), a passive 

device ensures there is a supply of fresh 

outdoor air. 

An active ventilator has a motorised fan to 

provide controlled ventilation.

keeping the internal noise down at the same level and providing

Passive or active? That is the question. The AEROMAT 100 

can be both. Depending on the type, it can ventilate rooms with 

excellent sound insulation and low energy consumption using 

the pressure differential or a fully adjustable fan. 

This window-mounted ventilator is suitable for private use as 

well as use in offices, hospitals and hotels. It is available in

Wall-mounted ventilators from SIEGENIA- 

AUBI don’t just provide a controlled supply 

of fresh air. They also assume a range of 

important additional functions for the wellbeing 

of people. Depending on the type of 

ventilator, capabilities stretch from optimal 

sound absorption and heat recovery, to 

integrated protection from humidity and 

highly effective filter technology. 

Particularly in renovations, there is a lot to 

be said for using high performance wallmounted 

ventilators. They can also be integrated 

very flexibly in the building plans at 

a later date. There is no need to replace the 

window and the ventilator installation is impressively 

quick and easy without the trouble 

of laying pipes through the rooms. When it 

comes down to it, this not only keeps costs 

low, the dust-free installation also avoids the 

bothersome mess caused by construction. 

Beyond the installation features, our wallmounted 

ventilators also excel for being 

notably user and maintenance friendly. 

Let’s look at the AEROPAC ® as an example. 

Maintenance consists of simply removing 

and washing the filter one to two times a 

year or replacing it. The integrated filter 

change indicator signals the best time for 

this. The front panel that can be opened 

by hand and the use of filter cassettes 

enable the filter to be changed quickly 

and conveniently without any tools. 

Quick and clean installation in 

around 45 minutes: 

1. Use a drill template to align the drill with 

the suction device 

2. Cut the pipe length down to thickness of 

the wall, install carefully and seal on both
