Congratulations to the <strong>Hersey</strong> Science<br />
Olympiad team for taking the overall 2nd place<br />
trophy at this years Regional Competition.<br />
This qualifies the team for the State Tournament<br />
to be held at University of Illinois on April 20th.<br />
The students that will be representing the team<br />
are: Aleeta Biju, Tiffany Chung, Allie Jager,<br />
Joe Koo, Steven Landeweer, Maggie Marusek,<br />
Joe McGovern, Dan McGready, Mohamed<br />
Mekki, Valmik Patel, Jacob Pepe, Alexandea<br />
Petrusan, Morgan Treppa, Tori Valadez, Eric<br />
Wade, and Yvonne Wojciechowski.<br />
Scholastic Bowl All-Stars<br />
<strong>Hersey</strong> proudly recognizes the contributions<br />
of two members of the Varsity Scholastic Bowl<br />
Team: Steve Landeweer and Phil Tubergen.<br />
Each was selected as an “MSL All-Star” for<br />
demonstrating extensive knowledge of topics<br />
ranging from history and geography to<br />
chemistry and biology. Together, they propelled<br />
their team to a 23 - 9 record and an MSL East<br />
Division title. Congratulations to Steve and<br />
Phil!<br />

Microsoft Technology Associate<br />
Network fundamentals exam that was taken<br />
at Harper College. This exam was provided<br />
for free to students who took the first<br />
semester Network Essentials class (our Cisco<br />
Networking Basics). We will be preparing<br />
for the CompTIA exams in May. Please<br />
congratulate them. A total of 12 students from<br />
the <strong>District</strong> passed the exams.<br />
MVA-Most Valuable Attitude<br />
...Student<br />
Shaniah Duff was recognized as an election<br />
judge by doing an excellent job on election day.<br />
She was well prepared by studying the Election<br />
Manual and was a great help to her fellow<br />
judges.<br />
Kaitlyn Roscoe was commended for her<br />
kindness to some special education students<br />
who went to the circus and had some concerns.<br />
Kaitlyn reassured them and helped them to<br />
have an enjoyable day.<br />
Polar Plunge - MVA<br />
Congratulations to the following girls who<br />
raised over $2,000 for Special Olympics by<br />
participating in the “Polar Plunge” in March<br />
at Twin Lakes in Palatine. These water polo<br />
athletes were “Freezin’ for a Reason!”<br />
