H&E-stained needle biopsy Below is an H&E-stained needle biopsy illustrating field selection for image capture. Phase-dense regions of the biopsy (lacking necrotic areas, large gaps in the tissue, or areas where tissue has folded onto itself) should be selected at 200x under phase contrast (see Section 2), and then imaged under fluorescence following SOP Section 7.3.8.
