In December 2010 the EEP elected a new EEP species committee for the management of the Hartmann’s mountain zebra. Explanations Explanations The studbook with a full historical listing will be published as pdf file and CD every year. Should you require a printed copy, please contact me. All animals registered in the studbook have been issued with a unique studbook number. Even if stillborn, animals will still be entered into the database as this is useful for reproductive analysis and also future demographic analysis. I would urge all registrars to enter these numbers into their records. The regularity of contact (or the lack of contact) with holding institutions, is constantly monitored. If no information has been given for a specimen for a considerable time and all efforts to receive information from an institution prove to be fruitless, this holder will be listed as "lost to follow up" and be removed from the studbook. I have now added the Inbreeding Coefficient behind every living animal, so you can see this information for your animals at a glance. Please note that the animals born after 2003 in Canyon Colorado Equid Sanctuary have unknown parents. Therefore I could not provide a correct Inb. Coefficient. Studcards: Studcards: Due to the fact that most AZA and EAZA institutions are reporting any animal records to ISIS, they will no longer be issued with studcards or specimen report print outs. If you still hold studcards, please proceed to use them as before and return them to the studbook keeper upon the death of the animal Dea Death Dea Dea th & & Post Post Mortem: Mortem: Upon the animal’s death, the “passport” should be sent to the studbook keeper together with the photos and a copy of the Post Mortem report. CNYN CNYN COLO: COLO: Many of you will know that Canyon Colorado Equid Sanctuary in New Mexico, probably the largest holder of equids in captivity, has moved all their animals to new owners. Unfortunately, it was not possible for them to identify all animals individually (which studbook number) and to inform the studbooks which equid is going where, and thus how these animals are related. The animals recorded as being alive in CNYN COLO are now registered as lost-to-follow-up in the studbook. However, those animals that have come out of CNYN COLO and have entered institutions in the North American PMP have now been issued with permanent numbers, since the PMP has made assumptions for the relatedness of these Hartmann zebra.
