Most of the natural pasture <strong>and</strong> woodl<strong>and</strong> is in the Bruce Peninsula, where<br />
much of the soil occurs in small patches surrounded by rock outcrop. Natural<br />
past,ure is also found on the bottom l<strong>and</strong> adjoining stream courses. Little of<br />
the muck has been developed for the production of cultivated crops, <strong>and</strong> it<br />
usually supports a tree cover of elm, ash, cedar <strong>and</strong> spruce.<br />
The following table, from the 1941 Census, gives a generalized picture of<br />
the types of farms occurring in Bruce County.<br />
