A. OUR VISION, MISSION & SUTRAS<br />
Our Vision<br />
Our vision is Swasth - Samarth - Sanskarit <strong>Bharat</strong> i.e. physically, economically<br />
and morally strong India. With this vision, <strong>Bharat</strong> <strong>Vikas</strong> <strong>Parishad</strong> was established<br />
in the birth centenary year of Swami Vivekanand in 1963 to work for<br />
development and growth of <strong>Bharat</strong>, in all fields of human endeavour - cultural,<br />
social, academic, moral, national and spiritual.<br />
2. Our Mission<br />
2.1 To achieve its vision, <strong>Parishad</strong>'s mission is to organise the elite, intellectuals<br />
and the well-to-do citizens and to motivate them to serve our poor, disabled,<br />
illiterate and ignorant brethren not as an act of charity but in the true spirit of<br />
our cultural tradition of service as duty.<br />
3. Our Sutras<br />
3.1 <strong>Parishad</strong>'s policies and programmes are executed through the five sutras<br />
(maxims) : Sampark (Fellowship), Sahyog (Cooperation), Sanskar (Moral<br />
Orientation), Seva (Service) and Samarpan (Commitment). <strong>Parishad</strong> believes<br />
that all these maxims are indispensable for proper grooming of our citizens and<br />
their family members towards the service of our motherland.<br />
B. ORGANISATION & FINANCE<br />
4. Meetings at National Level<br />
4.1 Following National level meetings were held during the year 2009-10:<br />

5. Election of National Office Bearers: 2010-12<br />
5.1 The National Governing Board of <strong>Bharat</strong> <strong>Vikas</strong> <strong>Parishad</strong>, in its meeting held<br />
on 20-21 February, 2010 at Gwalior, unanimously elected following National<br />
Office Bearers for the years 2010-12 for the four posts for which elections were<br />
held:<br />

2. National Working President - Shri Ishwar Datt Ojha, New Delhi<br />
3. National Secretary General - Shri Surinder Kumar Wadhwa, Delhi<br />

6. Zones, Prants & Branches<br />
6.1 As on March 2010, there were 17 Zones and 52 Prants in the <strong>Parishad</strong>'s<br />
organizational structure. The growth in number of branches and membership<br />
during the year 2006-07 onwards is shown below:<br />

6.2 It will be seen from above table that over the years there has been steady<br />
increase in the number of branches and membership. During 2009-10, 61 new<br />
branches were added while the membership increased by 6.6 per cent over the<br />
previous year. A statement showing number of branches and membership in<br />
various Prants as on 31.03.2009 and 31.03.2010 is at Annexure 1.<br />
7. National Workshops<br />
7.1 Two National Workshops were held during the year- one at Chandigarh for<br />
North India and another at Pune for South India.<br />
(a) The first National Workshop was held at Pune on 23th and 24th May, 2009<br />
for the Zonal and Prantiya office bearers of Zone XII to XVII. 57 office bearers of<br />
M.P. West, M.P. East, Gujarat, Maharashtra Coastal-I, Maharashtra-II, Goa,<br />
Karnataka South, Tamil Nadu, Kerala (9 states) and all the Zones (XII to XVII)<br />
participated in this Workshop.<br />

(b) The second National Workshop for the office bearers of Zones I to XI was<br />
held at Chandigarh on 6th and 7th June, 2009 hosted by Punjab East. 119<br />
delegates attended this workshop. Most of the faculty members used power<br />
point presentation for their subjects.<br />
8. Zonal Conferences<br />
8.1 During 2009-10, Zonal Conferences were organized for all the zones,<br />

9. Central Share<br />
9.1 The Central Office of the <strong>Parishad</strong> manages its activities from the<br />
contribution received from the Prants based on their membership. Following<br />
table shows the growth in the Central Share received from the Prants during the<br />
period 2006-07 onwards:<br />

10. <strong>Vikas</strong> Ratna and <strong>Vikas</strong> Mitra<br />
10.1 In order to provide funds for urgent relief works as well as for various<br />
service projects / programmes, <strong>Parishad</strong> has launched two schemes - “<strong>Vikas</strong><br />
Ratna” and “ <strong>Vikas</strong> Mitra." While for <strong>Vikas</strong> Mitra the minimum contribution has<br />
been fixed at Rs. 5,100, a person can have the honour of being called <strong>Vikas</strong><br />
Ratna if he pays a sum of Rs. one lakh by Cheque / Draft or Rupees one lakh fifty<br />

thousand in the shape of an advertisement to the <strong>Parishad</strong>. The investment of<br />
funds in FDRs, Bonds or Govt. Securities provides the much needed resources.<br />
10.2 It heartening to note that there has been encouraging response to the<br />
schemes. As on 31.03.2010, 52 <strong>Vikas</strong> Ratnas and 2,371 <strong>Vikas</strong> Mitras were<br />
enrolled. A statement showing geographical spread of the <strong>Vikas</strong> Mitras across<br />
various Prants is indicated in Annexure 1. List of <strong>Vikas</strong> Ratnas enrolled during<br />
2009-10 is at Annexure 2.<br />
11. Accounts for 2009-10<br />
11.1 <strong>Parishad</strong>'s accounts are regularly audited. An audited Balance Sheet and<br />
Income & Expenditure Account of <strong>Bharat</strong> <strong>Vikas</strong> <strong>Parishad</strong> (Central Office) for the<br />
year 2009-10 are at Annexures 3 & 4 respectively.<br />
C. PROJECTS & PROGRAMMES<br />
I. SANSKAR (EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME)<br />
12.1 The programmes of the <strong>Parishad</strong> aimed at providing sanskar or<br />
educational development can be categorized as under:<br />

13. National Group Song Competition (N.G.S.C.)<br />
13.1 National Group Song Competition is one of our oldest projects. Ever since<br />
the first National Group Song Competition of patriotic songs was held in 1967,<br />
such competitions have become an annual feature generating patriotic fervor.<br />
The competition has come to provide a measure of <strong>Bharat</strong> <strong>Vikas</strong> <strong>Parishad</strong>'s<br />
popularity and identity among the student community, their family members and<br />
the teachers.<br />
13.2 Students of class VIth to XIIth throughout the country are encouraged to<br />
participate in this programme at Branch level. Teams selected at Branch level<br />
compete at Prant level and those selected at Prant level finally compete at All<br />
India level. In the competition at the national level, a team from each Prant sings<br />

one patriotic song each in Hindi and a regional language and the best teams are<br />
awarded prizes.<br />
13.3 At branch level, the participation of students during 2009-10 has been as<br />

13.4 During the year 2009-10, 35th All India National Group Song<br />
Competition was held on the 28th-29th November 2009 at Visakhapatnam<br />
(Andhra Pradesh). The number of teams that participated in Hindi and<br />
Regional songs category was 42 and 33 respectively.<br />
13.5 The two day function was inaugurated by Shri Ajeya Kallam, I.A.S.,<br />
Chairman, Visakhapatnam Port Trust. On the concluding day, Vice-Admiral<br />
Anup Singh, A.V.S.M.,N.M., Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Eastern<br />
Naval Command, was the Chief Guest at the function.<br />

14. National Sanskrit Group Song Competition (NSGSC)<br />
14.1 Initially <strong>Parishad</strong> had started a competition for singing full text of<br />
Vandemataram to instill patriotic feelings among the children. Later it was<br />
converted into National Sanskrit Group Song Competition so that children's<br />
interest is also encouraged in Sanskrit language. Accordingly in this<br />
competition, the first song is to be a patriotic song in Sanskrit, from among the<br />
songs prescribed by the <strong>Parishad</strong>, and the second is a folk song of any state.<br />
The competition is conducted at Branch, Prant and National levels.<br />
14.2 At branch level, the participation of students during 2009-10 has been as<br />

14.3 Fifth All India National Sanskrit Group Song Competition<br />
Fifth All India National Sanskrit Group Song Competition was held on the 12th<br />
and 13th December, 2009 at Kanpur (Brahmavart Prant). Teams from record<br />
number of 38 Prants participated. Shri Sri Prakash Jaiswal, Minister for Coal,<br />
Government of India was the Chief Guest.<br />

15. <strong>Bharat</strong> Ko Jano<br />
15.1 This competition is a quiz programme for the school children to increase<br />
their awareness about the distinctive features of our country and culture. From<br />
the year 2001-02, this competition is being held at branch, prant and national<br />
levels. This programme has generated great interest among the students.<br />
15.2 For this competition, children are grouped in two categories - junior (class<br />
6 to 8) and senior (class 9 to 12). In the first stage written test in General<br />
Knowledge is organised in each participating school. Over one lakh <strong>Bharat</strong> Ko<br />
Jano books are distributed every year among the school students for this<br />
competition. Each Branch then conducts Quiz Competition among the<br />
students standing first, second and third in written test.<br />
15.3 During 2009-10, the participation of children in Bhart Ko Jano Competition<br />
was as under:<br />

15.4 The teams which stand first in both the groups are selected for the<br />
competition at the Prant level. Similarly, the teams selected at Prant level<br />
compete at National level.<br />
15.5 The Ninth All India <strong>Bharat</strong> Ko Jano Competition was held at Udaipur<br />
(Rajasthan) on the 2nd-3rd January, 2010. A record number of 42 Prants sent<br />
their teams for participation in this Competition. In all 79 teams participated in<br />
the competition - Senior: 41 teams and Junior: 38 teams.<br />

16. Guru Vandan - Chhatra Abhinandan<br />
16.1 The primary purpose of this programme is to strengthen in the minds of<br />
children their respect for their parents and teachers, whose blessings will<br />
enable them to be successful in life. Under this programme, the<br />
representatives of <strong>Bharat</strong> <strong>Vikas</strong> <strong>Parishad</strong> visit a number of schools in their<br />
areas to express thanks and gratitude to the teachers and congratulate the<br />
meritorious students.<br />

16.2 Such functions are organised during the period from 1 April to 15<br />
October every year. Ever since the programme was adopted at the national<br />
level in 2001-02, there has been a good response to this programme in which<br />
lakhs of students and teachers participate every year. During 2009-10, 563<br />
branches organised functions in 3,736 schools in which 24,965 students and<br />
12,314 teachers were honoured all over the country.<br />
17. Bal and Yuva Shivir<br />
17.1 During the year 2009-10, 167 branches organised Sanskar Shivirs in<br />
which a total of 27,898 children and youth participated.<br />
18. Guru Tegh Bahadur Balidan Diwas<br />
17.1 <strong>Bharat</strong> <strong>Vikas</strong> <strong>Parishad</strong> has been observing the martyrdom day of Guru<br />
Teg Bahadur for many years. Public meetings, seminars and exhibitions are<br />
held to highlight the sacrifices of Sikh Gurus and pay respectful homage to the<br />
great patriot.<br />
18.2 During 2009-10, 133 functions were held in various parts of the country<br />
to pay homage to Guru Teg Bahadur.<br />

19. Parivar Sanskar<br />
19.1 During the year 2009-10, 146 branches organised parivar sanskar<br />
shivirs wherein 3,607 women participated.<br />
19.2 During the year, Seventh National Parivar Sanskar Shivir was held at<br />
Jammu (Jammu & Kashmir) on 5-7 February, 2010. Shri Raman Bhalla<br />
(Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, J&K) inaugurated the shivir.<br />
Shri Zafar Iqbal Manhas (Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and<br />
Languages) was the Chief Guest at the shivir.<br />

(iii) Senior Citizens' Development<br />
20. Praud Sanskar Yojana<br />
20.1 Praud Sanskar Yojana project is for the senior citizens and aims to<br />
prepare them for leading an active, purposeful and dedicated social life.<br />
20.2 Sixteenth National Praud Sanskar Shivir was held at Prem Nagar<br />
Ashram, Haridwar from 5th to 7th March, 2010. The host Prant was<br />
Uttrakhand West. Two hundred and sixty delegates from various Prants<br />
attended the Shivir. Besides the delegates, about ten central, state and zonal<br />
level office bearers also attended.<br />
20.3 So far 16 All India Shivirs have been organised to motivate senior<br />
citizens to engage in social work where 2,848 Prauds have been trained so<br />
far. The participation in All India Praud Sanskar Shivirs over the years has<br />

II. SEWA (SERVICE PROGRAMMES)<br />
21. Viklang Sahayata Project (Handicapped Welfare & Rehabilitation)<br />
21.1 Helping the handicapped persons and their rehabilitation is one of the<br />
important programmes of the <strong>Bharat</strong> <strong>Vikas</strong> <strong>Parishad</strong> for which two of our<br />
centres have won President of India Award and one FICCI Award. The<br />
programme aims to enable the handicapped persons to fully participate in<br />
social and national life of the country overcoming their disability. Beginning<br />
with the establishment of its first Viklang Centre in Delhi at 1990, there are now<br />
following 13 Viklang Sahayata Kendras in various states, which provide<br />
artificial limbs free of cost to needy persons through their centres as well as<br />
by organising camps.<br />
21.2 These centres provide free of cost artificial limbs, calipers, hearing aids,<br />
medicines, special shoes, and tri cycles. In addition, there are mobile<br />
workshops, which manufacture artificial limbs and provide service to the<br />
Viklang Camps organised by various Branches. Some of the centres have<br />
also taken up special programme for conducting operations for the polio<br />
victims.<br />
21.3 During the year 2009-10, number of artificial limbs provided by the<br />
Viklang Kendras and branches is indicated below:<br />

(c) By Viklang Kendras at camps organized by 2,439<br />

21.4 In addition, our branches rehabilitated 6,194 handicapped persons by<br />
providing them training in various vocations, securing employment or in<br />
obtaining railway passes etc. during the year.<br />
22. Villages / Urban Slums Development<br />
22.1 Under the Gram / Basti Yojana, each branch is encouraged to adopt<br />
either a village or a slum area for its over-all development. During 2009-10, our<br />
branches took up 117 service projects in 78 villages. The projects included<br />
health check-up camps, visit of mobile medical vans, vocational training<br />
centres, sanskar kendras and education of illiterate and neglected children.<br />
The centres also help in getting benefits of different schemes launched by the<br />
Government.<br />

23. Integrated Development of Village through NRIs Assistance<br />
23.1 Realising the need for integrated development of the villages, <strong>Bharat</strong><br />
<strong>Vikas</strong> <strong>Parishad</strong>, with financial assistance from Jindal Foundation of Canada,<br />
has taken up Samagra Gram <strong>Vikas</strong> Project for all round development of<br />
villages in various parts of the country. So far 14 villages, in as many states,<br />
are being funded by Jindal Foundation.<br />
23.2 Till the year 2008-09, work was being carried out in the following villages:<br />
(1) Khajjiar (H.P.), (2) Dunera (Punjab), (3) Sunder Nagar (U.P.), (4) Eklaspur<br />
(A.P.), (5) Mohabbatpur (Haryana), (6) Lohat Baddi (Punjab), (7) Ilsoba (West<br />
Bengal), (8) Kaliwas (Rajasthan) (9) Dunge (Maharashtra) and (10)<br />
Kumbarakoppalu (Karnataka).<br />
23.3 During 2009-10, work continued in four of the above villages viz Lohat<br />
Baddi (Punjab), Kumbarkoppallu, (Karnataka), Kaliwas (Rajasthan) and<br />
Ilsoba (West Bengal). As a result, the envisaged village development targets<br />
in all the ten villages have now been substantially achieved. During the year,<br />
work was also taken up in the following three additional villages:<br />
1. Barnarikala (Assam)<br />
2. Rampur Gadwal (J&K)<br />
3. Banger (M.P.)<br />
The work in the above villages is in initial stages of implementation.<br />
23.4 As in the past, Dr. Shiv Jindal and Smt. Sarita Jindal made their annual<br />
visit to India during October-November, 2009 to apprise themselves of the<br />
progress of work in all the villages funded by Jindal Foundation.<br />
24. Vanvasi Sahayata Project (Tribal Development)<br />
24.1 Since 1992, <strong>Bharat</strong> <strong>Vikas</strong> <strong>Parishad</strong> has been taking up programmes for<br />
the welfare and uplift of the Vanvasis of the country in general and North<br />
Eastern states in particular. Presently, <strong>Parishad</strong> has adopted following<br />
projects in the North Eastern states:<br />

24.2 During the year 2009-10, funds provided for financing projects in tribal<br />
areas of the country amounted to Rs. 33.05 lakhs.<br />
25. Environment<br />
25.1 Environment is one of the important projects of <strong>Bharat</strong> <strong>Vikas</strong> <strong>Parishad</strong>.<br />
Under the “Green India Project”, branches take up tree plantation, distribution<br />
of sacred plant e.g. Tulsi, and organise seminars on environment. During the<br />
year, our branches planted 1.14 lakhs plants and distributed 29,699 Tulsi<br />
plants.<br />
26. Health (other than assistance to Handicapped)<br />
26.1 <strong>Parishad</strong>'s branches hold general health check-ups, blood donation<br />
camps and specialized medical camps e.g. dental care, eye care, T.B. camps,<br />
Hepatitis camps and camps for deaf etc. Facilities for registration of eye<br />
donation and surgery are also provided. Branches also regularly organise<br />
seminars on various aspects of health and conduct yoga camps. A number of<br />
hospitals and dispensaries set up the <strong>Parishad</strong> are also serving the society.<br />
26.2 The number of beneficiaries in the health camps organised by the<br />
branches during the year were as under:<br />

In addition, <strong>Parishad</strong>'s members also donated 12,490 units of blood during<br />
the year.<br />
26.3 BVP Hospital & Research Centre, Kota (Rajasthan): The <strong>Parishad</strong><br />
has a Super Specialty Hospital at Kota spread over 40,000 square feet.<br />
Starting as a Viklang Kendra in December 1995, it is now a 200 bedded<br />
hospital with an ICU, Private Wards and a number of specialties. The hospital<br />
now provides service to Cardiac and Neuro patients. The facilities for bypass<br />
surgery commenced in September, 2006. During the year 2009-10, work was<br />
taken up on 20 beded fully equipped ICU which is now nearly completion.<br />
Additional facilities such as Flat Panel and Cath Lab have also been added.<br />

26.4 During the year, the hospital provided treatment to a total of 1.30 lakhs<br />
patients, including to 14,967 indoor patients. Over 1.18 lakhs diagnostic<br />
examinations such as Pathology tests, X-Rays and Sonography as well as<br />
surgeries were conducted.<br />
26.5 BVP Charitable Diagnostic Centre, Chandigarh: The Diagnostic Centre<br />
provides services to the society on 'no profit no loss basis' through its<br />
Pathological Laboratory, X-ray Centre, Ultra Sound Centre, Cardiac Centre, Eye<br />
Care Centre and OPD.<br />
26.6 Pathological Laboratory is now fully equipped with state-of-the-art<br />
automated and semi automated equipments. The OPD is presently providing<br />
consultation for Gynecology, General Medicine, Orthopedic, Skin, Paediatric,<br />
Gastrointestinal, Ayurvedic and Homeopathic consultation and prescription.<br />
Physio therapy facilities including Ceregam have been set up as part of the OPD<br />
services.<br />
26.7 Starting with 4,087 patients served during 1987-88 with limited facilities,<br />
patients' strength grew to 1.54 lakhs during 2009-10 as shown below:.<br />
26.8 BVP Charitable Trust Hospital, Ludhiana (Punjab), apart from helping<br />
the physically handicapped persons with artificial limbs and rehabilitating them,<br />
also provides diagnostic services such as X-ray, ECG and other medical tests to<br />
the patients. During the year, 4324 persons were provided such facilities. The<br />
Centre also organised 68 camps and conducted 1,189 surgeries incurring an<br />
expenditure of Rs. 20.94 lakhs.<br />

26.9 BVP Charitable Trust, Delhi (Centre): The Trust is funding Kanchi Sri<br />
Sankara Medical Centre at Bongaigaon (Assam). It is a first of its kind 30-<br />
bedded multi-disciplinary facility in tribal area of North-East. Funds have also<br />
been provided for renovation of a Medical Centre at Bongaigaon.<br />
26.10 BVP Hospital at Chhabra (Rajasthan): <strong>Bharat</strong> <strong>Vikas</strong> <strong>Parishad</strong> is<br />
setting up a new hospital at Chhabra at a piece of land measuring 7,500 sq.m.<br />
Its building is under construction.<br />
27. Samuhik Saral Vivah<br />
27.1 <strong>Parishad</strong> helps the poor young girls and boys by organising simple mass<br />
marriages. Samuhik Saral Vivah is thus an important programme conducted<br />
every year.<br />
27.2 During the year 2009-10, <strong>Parishad</strong> helped in organising marriages of 662<br />
couples belonging to weaker sections of the society.<br />
28. Legal Aid to Needy Women and Children<br />
28.1 Recognising that poor, neglected and exploited women segment of the<br />
society need legal assistance, <strong>Parishad</strong> has been providing them free<br />
counseling services. To begin with one family-counselling centre is being set<br />
up in each zone of the country.<br />
29. Relief Work<br />
29.1 During 2009, states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra<br />
were badly affected by floods. Our branches extended their best possible help<br />
to the flood affected brethren by providing food, clothes and medicines etc.<br />
Funds were also released by the Central Office to supplement the efforts of the<br />
Prants for providing relief and rehabilitation to the affected brethren.<br />
30. Permanent Projects<br />
30.1 To provide continuity to our efforts to serve the society, our branches<br />
undertake some activities on daily or weekly basis which are categorised as<br />
Permanent Projects. There are now 1,266 permanent projects run by various<br />
branches of <strong>Bharat</strong> <strong>Vikas</strong> <strong>Parishad</strong>. These projects include Hospitals, Clinics,<br />
Physiotherapy Centres, Mobile Vans, Pathology Labs, Ultrasound Centres,<br />
Blood Banks, Educational Institutions, Training Centres, Libraries, Reading<br />
Rooms, Yoga Training Centres, Sanskar Kendra, Senior Citizens Welfare<br />
Centres, Mukti Dhams & Legal Aid Cells etc.<br />

III. SAMPARK (PUBLIC RELATIONS)<br />
31. Sanskriti Saptah<br />
31.1 Every year <strong>Parishad</strong>'s branches organise Sanskriti Saptah during the<br />
months of July to September. The aim of this week long celebrations is to create<br />
awareness about the work of the <strong>Parishad</strong> among the citizens. During the year<br />
2009-10, 475 branches organised 3,810 programmes during the Sanskriti<br />
Saptah.<br />
32. Sthapana Diwas<br />
32.1 On <strong>Parishad</strong>'s Foundation Day branches organise functions to celebrate<br />
the event in order to spread its message among the citizens. During 2009-10,<br />
322 branches organised such functions.<br />
33. Mahila Sahbhagita<br />
33.1 During the year, 218 branches organised 348 programmes especially for<br />
women which were attended by 22,179 participants.<br />
34. Seminars<br />
34.1 <strong>Bharat</strong> <strong>Vikas</strong> <strong>Parishad</strong> holds seminars on contemporary subjects of<br />
national interest and welfare of humanity in institutions of higher education to<br />
reinforce Bhartiya Sanskriti and Sanskars among the youth. Reports from the<br />
branches indicate that during the year, 146 branches organised 168 seminars<br />
in which 29,292 persons participated.<br />
34.2 Subjects discussed in the seminars included India's space programme,<br />
citizens in democratic nation, divorce: reasons and solutions, Bhartiya<br />
sanskariti and dharma, Indian philosophy, vedic culture and rituals, electoral<br />
system of India, Vision India: 2020.<br />
35. Publications and Website<br />
35.1 Literature on <strong>Bharat</strong> <strong>Vikas</strong> <strong>Parishad</strong>, its projects and activities is being<br />
continuously revised and updated. A number of new publications were also<br />
brought out during the year. A complete list of publications is at Annexure-5.<br />
35.2 <strong>Bharat</strong> <strong>Vikas</strong> <strong>Parishad</strong> is regularly bringing out its bilingual monthly journal<br />
“NITI” in Hindi and English (circulation: 44,000 copies) on <strong>Parishad</strong>'s activities<br />

and half-yearly magazine “Gyan Prabha” containing thought provoking<br />
articles.<br />
35.3 <strong>Parishad</strong>'s website (www.bvpindia.com) now occupies an important role<br />
in spreading the <strong>Parishad</strong>'s message and disseminating information about its<br />
activities. During the year it continued to add newer features and content. It is<br />
now a source of all the information that one needs to know about <strong>Bharat</strong> <strong>Vikas</strong><br />
<strong>Parishad</strong>. <strong>Parishad</strong> is also now on the Facebook.<br />
36. Utkrishtata Samman Award in the memory of <strong>Parishad</strong>'s Founder<br />
Secretary General Dr. Suraj Prakash<br />
36.1 Utkrishtata Samman (Excellency Award) has been instituted to perpetuate<br />
the memory of <strong>Parishad</strong>'s Founder Secretary General Dr. Suraj Prakash and to<br />
propagate the ideals put forth by him. It is awarded to a person or institution for<br />
doing outstanding work in any field. Nominations received from all over the<br />
country are considered by a Selection Committee.<br />
36.2 So far three awards have been presented. In the first two years awards<br />
have gone in the fields of Sanskar and Sewa. During the third year of the Award,<br />
nominations were invited for award in the field of “Environment”. A total of 40<br />
nominations were received. The Committee, under the chairmanship of Shri<br />
Jagmohan, selected Dr. Vallabhbhai R. Kathiria, Rajkot, Gujarat for this<br />
honour.<br />
37. I take this opportunity to thank all my colleagues at the grass root, state,<br />
zonal and central levels for their cooperation in strengthening the <strong>Bharat</strong> <strong>Vikas</strong><br />
<strong>Parishad</strong> in service of the Nation. In all humility, I present this report to the<br />
