Department of Public Relations, Chandigarh Administration www.chandigarh.gov.in Press Note World Earth Day Celebrations Chandigarh, April 22: To celebrate the World Earth Day, Department of Environment & Forests, Chandigarh Administration organized a function in collaboration with NGO- DEEKSHA at Auditorium of Museum & Art Gallery here today. Comedian & Actor of Punjabi Films, Shri Gurpreet Ghuggi was the Chief Guest on this occasion. He stressed the need for caring for our mother earth and called upon all students to take active part in protection and preservation of our environment. Around 250 students from different schools participated in the Earth Day celebration. Skits and songs were presented by students of different schools. Addressing the students, Shri Santosh Kumar, IFS, Director Environment emphasized the importance and need for protection and conservation of the valuable ecosystem. He called upon all to judge their actions by looking whether his/her action is going to be harmful for mother earth or not? Welcoming the Chief Guest, Ms.Tripat Pramar informed that every year World Earth Day is celebrated in the country on 22 nd April, 2013, to sensitize the masses and to strengthen the environmental related activities in the schools/colleges of Chandigarh. Club.<br />

Among o<strong>the</strong>r dignitaries, <strong>the</strong> function was attended by Shri Kuldeep Sharma, IFS,<br />

Shri P.J.S Dadhwal, Additional Director (<strong>Environment</strong>).
