Port facilities adapted to the operating needs
of our clients, highly trained personnel with
maximum security in all operating procedures
of ships as well as collaboration among the
authorities and security forces are some of the
factors that make our port safe and reliable.
In our terminals we have developed the
highest standards of security. We follow strict
guidelines to guarantee all cruise needs in
terms of safety and security. Implementation
of ISPS Code to SOLAS is one of our strengths.
We have successfully exceeded the inspection
of the new European Union Regulation (CE)
125/2004, which essentially states that European
ports have to apply measures which the
ISPS code stated as mere recommendations,
thus increasing the required level of security.
One of the main environmental matter for the
ports is the reception of ships waste. Thus, the
Port of Barcelona is prepared and equipped
with specialized facilities devoted to collect
different kinds of waste.
For Marpol I (hydrocarbon liquid), II (chemicals),
IV (black and grey waters) waste there is
a certified treatment plant located at the port
area, and for Marpol V (rubbish and cargo)
waste there is also a certified facility.
All the port operations are based towards the
efficiency and the environmental responsibility.
Therefore, the Port of Barcelona complies
with all the current legislation and also has
established specific action procedures for
having the necessary material and human resources
to achieve these objectives in the most
efficient way. Because of this, aspects such as
the waters, traffic roads or gardening are taken
with special care to provide the best image to
the terminal users.
