Since its inception in AY 1997-1998, the Management and Organization <strong>De</strong>partment (formerly<br />

Business Management) has <strong>partner</strong>ed with over 100 institutions in the practical training <strong>of</strong> over<br />

500 students three times for a period <strong>of</strong> 12 weeks each. The <strong>partner</strong>ship with industry has<br />

stemmed from endorsements by the European Chamber <strong>of</strong> Commerce <strong>of</strong> the Philippines or by<br />

the initiative <strong>of</strong> <strong>companies</strong>, MOD administrators, or students. If a student initiates the linkage,<br />

the relationship extends only for one or two academic terms. However, if the <strong>partner</strong>ship was<br />

established more deliberately, then there is a tendency for a longer-term relationship.<br />

Below is a listing <strong>of</strong> <strong>companies</strong> who have accepted an ACM intern at least on one occasion. In<br />

any one trimester, the <strong>De</strong>partment deals with around 10 <strong>partner</strong> <strong>companies</strong> to accommodate<br />

about 40 students.<br />

1.0 Currently Active Industry Partners<br />

1.1 L’Oreal Philippines (1997-present)<br />

L’Oreal is in the beauty industry and positions itself to be the world’s leading<br />

cosmetic industry (http://www.loreal.com). Their Philippine <strong>of</strong>fice has <strong>partner</strong>ed<br />

with the <strong>De</strong>partment since the ACM program started in 1997. ACM interns are<br />

assigned either in human resources or brand marketing.<br />

1.2 Unilever Philippines (1998-present)<br />

Unilever is a manufacturer and distributor <strong>of</strong> home goods, food and beverage<br />

items, dairy and personal care products. The company has over 400 brands<br />

spanning 14 categories <strong>of</strong> home, personal care and foods products<br />

(http://www.unilever.com.ph). Their company <strong>of</strong>fers various learning<br />

opportunities for ACM students and has become a favorite destination not only<br />

for internship but for employment as well. About one-third <strong>of</strong> all ACM students<br />

thus far have interned with Unilever at least once. There are some terms that the<br />

company accepts up to two dozen students, assigned in distribution and<br />

marketing. Students have also interned in human resources as well as safety,<br />

health and environment.<br />

1.3 Chevron Philippines (1999-present)<br />

Chevron Philippines Inc. markets Caltex fuels, lubricants and petroleum<br />

products (http://www.chevron.com/). The company consistently accepts at least<br />

one ACM intern per term. Most assignments are with card marketing although<br />

students have also been assigned to procurement and star mart merchandising.<br />

1.4 Nestle Philippines (1999-present)<br />

Nestle Philippines is a manufacturer and distributor <strong>of</strong> food and beverage<br />

products, employing about 3,000 individuals (http://nestle.com.ph/). The<br />

company has been a solid <strong>partner</strong> <strong>of</strong> the ACM program. It has been a favorite<br />

destination <strong>of</strong> students who are assigned to varied departments. Half <strong>of</strong> the ACM<br />

students have interned with the company at least once. A good number <strong>of</strong><br />

students who have been exposed to the working environment at Nestle have<br />

decided to start careers with the organization. The company however has<br />

refocused its internship requirement thus <strong>of</strong>fering a limited number <strong>of</strong> slots.<br />

1.5 Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Company (2000-present)<br />

Pilipinas Shell is just one <strong>of</strong> several Shell Companies located in the Philippines.<br />

The company refines, blends, transports and sells a wide range <strong>of</strong> high quality<br />

fuels, lubricants, liquefied petroleum gas, bitumen and other specialty oil-based<br />

products (http://www.shell.com.ph). There have been at least 150 intern<br />

opportunities with ACM students, a bulk <strong>of</strong> whom are assigned to retail cards<br />

sales and marketing.<br />

1.6 Citibank NA (2001-present)<br />

Citibank provides global financial services and has been in the country for a<br />

century (http://www.citibank.com.ph). The company continues to be a strong<br />

<strong>partner</strong> <strong>of</strong> the ACM program. The 10-year relationship thus far has provided<br />

work exposure to about 100 students, one-fourth <strong>of</strong> whom have decided to work<br />

with the organization. Students are usually assigned at the Global Transaction<br />

Services division or in Corporate Banking, although some have worked in<br />

operations and in data management.<br />

1.7 Towers Watson (2002-present)<br />

Towers Watson, formerly Watson Wyatt, is a global pr<strong>of</strong>essional services<br />

company that helps organizations improve performance through effective people,<br />

risk and financial management (http://www.towerswatson.com/). ACM students<br />

help mostly in the human resource function. The company consistently accepts a<br />

student intern each trimester since they have become a <strong>partner</strong>. Of 20 graduates<br />

who interned with the company, six worked at Towers Watson after graduation.<br />

1.8 Johnson & Johnson (2004-present)<br />

Johnson and Johnson Philippines has been in the country since 1956. They <strong>of</strong>fer<br />

a wide array <strong>of</strong> products in the consumer, medical devices and pharmaceutical<br />

sectors (http:// www.jnj.com). Five <strong>of</strong> 15 students who interned with the<br />

company have opted to start their careers with the organization. Most <strong>of</strong> the<br />

assignments <strong>of</strong> the students have been with human resources.<br />

1.9 Metropolitan Bank and Trust Co. (2007-present)<br />

Metrobank <strong>of</strong>fers a full range <strong>of</strong> banking and other financial products and services<br />

(http://www.metrobank.com.ph/). The bank is a relatively new <strong>partner</strong> company<br />

<strong>of</strong> the ACM program, with the relationship initiated by a student. The HR<br />

department trusts in the ability <strong>of</strong> the ACM students and have thus strengthened<br />

their internship program to attract students to eventually work with the bank.<br />

1.10 UBS Securities (2008-present)<br />

UBS Securities provides securities and other financial products and research in<br />

equities, fixed income, rates, foreign exchange and commodities<br />

(http://www.ubs.com/). The organization is extremely lean but management<br />

relies on the assistance provided by ACM students either in their research or<br />

trading departments. <strong>De</strong>spite limited headcount, they have managed to hire two<br />

<strong>of</strong> 13 students who interned with the organization.<br />

1.11 Primer Group <strong>of</strong> Companies (2009-present)<br />

The Primer Group <strong>of</strong> Companies is engaged in the retail and distribution <strong>of</strong> the<br />

world’s top consumer brands in sports gear, travel gear, and footwear<br />

(http://www.primergrp.com/). The <strong>partner</strong>ship was forged through the initiative<br />

<strong>of</strong> ACM students. They have provided internship opportunities to about a dozen<br />

students in two years.<br />

1.12 Robert Bosch (2009-present)<br />

The Bosch Group is a leading global supplier <strong>of</strong> technology and services,<br />

particularly in the areas <strong>of</strong> automotive and industrial technology, consumer goods,<br />

and building technology (http://www.bosch.com). Only two ACM students have<br />

interned with the company.<br />

1.13 Kraft Philippines (2010-present)<br />

Kraft Foods Philippines, Inc. (KFPI), is a fully-owned subsidiary <strong>of</strong> Kraft Foods<br />

Inc.(Kraft) one <strong>of</strong> the largest U.S.-based food business in the world<br />

(http://www.kraftfoodscompany.com/). The company was approached by<br />

<strong>De</strong>partment administrators in 2010 for possible <strong>partner</strong>ship. In its first year, the<br />

company accepted six interns who were assigned in trade marketing and human<br />

resources. Two ACM students have already joined the four other ACM students<br />

already employed by the firm.<br />

1.14 Standard Chartered Bank (2010-present)<br />

Standard Chartered PLC is listed on the London, Hong Kong and Mumbai stock<br />

exchanges and ranks among the top 20 <strong>companies</strong> in the FTSE-100 by market<br />

capitalisation. In the Philippines, Standard Chartered <strong>of</strong>fers consumer banking,<br />

wholesale banking, and private banking (http://www.standardchartered.com/).<br />

Only three students have thus far interned with the bank.<br />

2.0 Prospective Industry Partners under Discussion<br />

2.1 Philam Life Company (2011)<br />

Philippine American Life and General Insurance Company is ffers an extensive<br />

line <strong>of</strong> products in the industry that provides solutions to various financial needs<br />

including life protection, health insurance, savings, education, retirement,<br />

investment, group and credit life insurance (http://www.philamlife.com/). Their<br />

human resources is interested in participating in an internship program that will<br />

feed into their talent acquisition.<br />

2.2 Phinma Group <strong>of</strong> Companies (2011)<br />

The Philippine Investment-Management (PHINMA), Inc. is engaged in mining,<br />

business process outsourcing, education, energy, financial services, ro<strong>of</strong>ing,<br />

property and shelter (http://www.phinma.com.ph). It was founded by Ramon V.<br />

<strong>De</strong>l Rosario Sr. With the 2011 launching <strong>of</strong> the RVR College <strong>of</strong> Business, it is<br />

but appropriate for ACM students to be exposed to the company’s mission <strong>of</strong><br />

nation building.<br />

2.3 ISS Governance/MSCI Brand (2011)<br />

ISS Governance, now under the MSCI Brand, is a leading provider <strong>of</strong> risk<br />

management and corporate governance products and services to the global<br />

financial community (http://www.msci.com/). Given the focus <strong>of</strong> the <strong>De</strong>partment<br />

to expose its students to good corporate governance, the Administrators have<br />

contacted the organization for possible internship opportunities.<br />

2.4 Hershey’s Philippines (2011)<br />

Hershey’s in the Philippines is engaged in the marketing <strong>of</strong> the Hershey brand <strong>of</strong><br />

chocolates in the Asian region (http://www.thehersheycompany.com). The<br />

company was tapped for possible internship in marketing.<br />

3.0 Previously Active Industry Partners<br />

3.1 Siemens Inc (1997-2009)<br />

Siemens has been active in the Philippines for over 100 years and has been active<br />

particularly in the Energy and Healthcare Sectors The European company was<br />

one <strong>of</strong> the original <strong>partner</strong>s <strong>of</strong> the ACM program and was one <strong>of</strong> the stronger<br />

<strong>partner</strong>s. Unfortunately, they rationalized their internship opportunities and no<br />

longer accept interns.<br />

3.2 Zuellig Pharmaceuticals Philippines (1997-2004)<br />

Zuellig Pharma has established itself as the leading healthcare distribution<br />

solution specialist in the region (http://www.zuelligpharma.com). The<br />

organization was one <strong>of</strong> the original <strong>partner</strong>s <strong>of</strong> the ACM Program that had<br />

accommodated students on a yearly basis.<br />

3.3 Novartis Inc (1997-2003)<br />

Novartis in the Philippines was incorporated in 1996, integrating Ciba Geigy and<br />

Sandoz Philippines, following the merger <strong>of</strong> the giant parent <strong>companies</strong><br />

(http://www.novartis.com.ph/). They were part <strong>of</strong> the original <strong>partner</strong> <strong>companies</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong> the program, providing internship to almost two dozen students.<br />

3.4 Roche Philippines (1997-2003)<br />

Roche is a Swiss company registered with the Philippine Securities and Exchange<br />

Commission in 1962. They pride themselves to be the market leader in IVD<br />

diagnostics, in oncology care, and in anti-obesity<br />

(http://www.rochephilippines.ph/). They formed part <strong>of</strong> the original <strong>partner</strong>ship<br />

base <strong>of</strong> the ACM programs where students interned for their entire three-term<br />

internship.<br />

3.5 Merck Inc. (1997-2004)<br />

Merck, Inc. provides quality pharmaceutical and chemical products and services<br />

to its customers. It’s over-the-counter portfolio includes cough and cold remedies<br />

(http://www.merck.ph/).<br />

3.6 Edward Keller (1997-2001)<br />

Edward Keller (Philippines), Inc. is a leading food manufacturing company with<br />

more than 120 years <strong>of</strong> business experience. It was one <strong>of</strong> the ECCP <strong>companies</strong><br />

who jumpstarted the ACM internship program.<br />

3.7 Knoll Philippines (1999-2001)<br />

Knoll Pharmaceuticals, the worldwide pharmaceutical business <strong>of</strong> BASF Pharma.<br />

It was integrated into Abbott Philippines (http://www.abbott.com.ph/). Similar to<br />

other ECCP pharmaceutical <strong>companies</strong>, the company <strong>partner</strong>ed with the program<br />

only for a brief period.<br />

3.8 Bayer Philippines (1997-2000)<br />

Bayer is engaged in the fields <strong>of</strong> health care, nutrition and high-tech materials<br />

(http://www.bayer.com/). The company participated in the first three years <strong>of</strong> the<br />

program, providing internship exposure to 4 students, three times.<br />

3.9 BASF (1997-2000)<br />

BASF is a leading chemical company, producing inorganics, polymers, and<br />

catalysts (http://www.basf.com/). One ACM student interned with the company<br />

three times during the academic years 1997 through 2000.<br />

3.10 Interphil <strong>La</strong>boratories (1997-2000)<br />

Interphil <strong>La</strong>boratories, Inc. is involved in manufacturing, processing and<br />

packaging drugs, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and veterinary products<br />

(http://www.pharmaindustries.com/). Also, an ECCP-led <strong>partner</strong>ship, Interphil<br />

provided work exposure to six ACM students at the beginning <strong>of</strong> the program.<br />

3.11 Griffith <strong>La</strong>boratories (1998-2000)<br />

Griffith <strong>La</strong>boratories is a global manufacturer <strong>of</strong> food ingredients<br />

(http://www.griffithlaboratories.com/). The company participated in the program<br />

when it was being jump-started.<br />

3.12 Philips and Associates (1999-2003)<br />

Philips is one <strong>of</strong> the biggest business organizations in the Philippines, employing<br />

some 6,000 Filipinos directly, excluding several thousand others working as<br />

suppliers and subcontractors for the company. Its operations in the Philippines<br />

includes two semiconductor plants in <strong>La</strong>guna, a consumer electronics facility in<br />

<strong>La</strong>s Piñas together with its commercial <strong>of</strong>fice in Makati City<br />

(http://www.philips.com.ph/). During its four-year <strong>partner</strong>ship with the ACM<br />

program, initiated by the ECCP, the company provided internship exposure to a<br />

dozen ACM students.<br />

3.13 Smart Communications Inc (2002-2010)<br />

Smart Communications is a wireless services provider that became a whollyowned<br />

subsidiary <strong>of</strong> the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company<br />

(http://smart.com.ph). ACM students interested in the marketing function <strong>of</strong> the<br />

telecommunications industry intern with the company. There have been about 50<br />

students who have interned with the firm over a nine year period.<br />

3.14 Seaoil Petroluem (1998-2005)<br />

Seaoil Petroleum was initially engaged in storage facilities for petroleum and<br />

petrochemical based products until they integrated forward<br />

(http://www.seaoil.com.ph/). During their seven-year <strong>partner</strong>ship with the<br />

program, they were able to provide work exposure to two dozen ACM students.<br />

3.15 Magsaysay Group <strong>of</strong> Companies (1999-2005)<br />

The Magsaysay Group <strong>of</strong> Companies is known for their involvement in the<br />

maritime industry although they are also engaged in insurance brokerage and<br />

travel (http://www.magsaysay.com.ph). For a six-year period beginning 1999,<br />

they provided internship opportunities to about two dozen ACM students.<br />

3.16 San Miguel Corporation (2002-2010)<br />

This local Philippine conglomerate is considered the country’s largest beverage,<br />

food, and packaging company (http://www.sanmiguel.com.ph). ACM students<br />

have sporadically interned with the organization, being assigned in their various<br />

subsidiaries.<br />

3.17 American Hearing Company (1999-2004)<br />

AMEARCO defines itself to be in the business <strong>of</strong> ear care. It is a closely-held<br />

corporation established in early 1998 by several Philippine otorhinolaryngologists<br />

who thought there was a need for the medical community to influence the<br />

development <strong>of</strong> the Philippine hearing instrument dispensing industry<br />

(http://www.amearco.com/). A student had arranged for internship assignments in<br />

the firm that lasted until 2004.<br />

3.18 Prudential Bank (1999-2004).<br />

Prudential Bank is a commercial bank that caters primarily to middle-mart based<br />

entrepreneurs (http://www.prudentialbank.com.ph). Only four ACM students<br />

interned with the bank during the <strong>partner</strong>ship period. The <strong>partner</strong>ship was<br />

initiated by a student.<br />

3.19 Petron Philippines (2002-2006)<br />

Petron Philippines is is the largest oil refining and marketing company in the<br />

Philippines (http://www.petron.com/). They accepted ACM interns during the<br />

four-year period <strong>of</strong> <strong>partner</strong>ship.<br />

3.20 <strong>De</strong>utsche Knowledge Services (2008, 2010)<br />

DKS operates as a shared service centre for Finance, Global Business Services<br />

and IT (http://www.db.com/). The company approached DLSU for interns in<br />

academic year 2008-2009. During that period, nine students took their internship<br />

with the firm.<br />

3.21 <strong>De</strong>l Monte Philippines (2003,2010)<br />

The <strong>De</strong>l Monte Pacific (DMPL) Group is a group <strong>of</strong> <strong>companies</strong> that caters to<br />

today’s consumer needs for premium quality, healthy food and beverage products.<br />

It innovates, produces, markets and distributes its products worldwide<br />

(http://www.delmontepacific.com/). A <strong>partner</strong>ship was forged due to the<br />

initiative <strong>of</strong> a student in 2003. It was only in 2010 again, when a pair <strong>of</strong> students<br />

decided to take their internship with the company.<br />

3.22 Colgate-Palmolive Philippines (2007, 2010)<br />

Colgate-Palmolive is a trusted brand for dental care, personal care, home care and<br />

pet nutrition (http://www.colgate.ph/). The company has accommodated ACM<br />

students on only two occasions, once in 2007 and the other in 2010.<br />

3.23 Level Up Games (2003, 2011)<br />

Level Up! Philippines is the country’s first and biggest online game publisher<br />

(http://www.levelupgames.ph/). They accepted an intern in 2003 and another in<br />

2011.<br />

3.24 Tetrapak Corporation (1998, 2003)<br />

Tetra Pak is a food processing and packaging solutions company<br />

(http://www.tetrapak.com/). In 1998 and again in 2003, they opened their doors<br />

for ACM internship in the marketing division.<br />

3.25 Ayala <strong>La</strong>nd Inc (1999-2006)<br />

Ayala <strong>La</strong>nd, Inc. is the real estate arm <strong>of</strong> the Ayala Corporation<br />

(http://www.ayalaland.com.ph/). A handful <strong>of</strong> ACM students interned with the<br />

company.<br />

3.26 Honda Cars (1998-2004)<br />

Honda Cars Alabang and Shaw are distributors <strong>of</strong> the Honda-brand vehicles<br />

(http://www.hondaph.com). On separate occasions, they accommodated a<br />

handful <strong>of</strong> students in their two branches during the period 1998-2004.<br />

3.27 Maginet Philippines (2001-2003)<br />

MagiNet Corporation is a provider <strong>of</strong> in-room interactive television and Internet<br />

access services for the hospitality industry (http://www.maginet.net/). Five<br />

students interned in the company during the two-year period.<br />

3.28 Keppel Philippines (2001-2004)<br />

Keppel Philippines Marine, Inc. (KPMI) provides solutions for <strong>of</strong>fshore rig<br />

construction, shipbuilding, ship repair and conversion<br />

(http://www.keppelphilippinesmarineinc.com). Five students interned with the<br />

company in a three-year period.<br />

3.29 International Enterprise Singapore (2003-2006)<br />

International Enterprise Singapore oversees the growth <strong>of</strong> Singapore-based<br />

enterprises and international trade (http://www.iesingapore.gov.sg/). Ten ACM<br />

students interned with the organization.<br />

3.30 Navitaire (2003-2008)<br />

Navitaire provides information technology and business process solutions to the<br />

airline industry (http://www.navitaire.com/). The company was an active <strong>partner</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong> the program for five years until new directives affected the internship<br />

assignments.<br />

3.31 Fuzion Smoothies (2005-2008)<br />

Fuzion <strong>of</strong>fers a variety <strong>of</strong> food and smoothies in company-owned and franchised<br />

outlets (http://fuzionphils.com/) . The owners appreciated the assistance <strong>of</strong> ACM<br />

interns until a <strong>De</strong>partment directive, limiting <strong>partner</strong>ships to larger-sized firms,<br />

caused the termination <strong>of</strong> the relationship.<br />

3.32 Sun Life Financial (2003, 2008)<br />

Sun Life is an international financial services company (http://www.sunlife.com/).<br />

After a one-time experience in 2003, the HR department was interested in forging<br />

a stronger <strong>partner</strong>ship with the ACM Program in 2008.<br />

3.33 United <strong>La</strong>boratories (2002, 2005)<br />

UNILAB is a regional healthcare company with a leading presence in the Asia. It<br />

is the most dominant provider <strong>of</strong> over-the-counter pharmaceuticals in the<br />

Philippines and is a massive, top echelon corporate identity<br />

(http://www.unilab.com.ph/). The company accommodated two student-initiated<br />

internships.<br />

3.34 Axcess Technologies (2002-2004)<br />

Axcess Technologies is a one stop solution for all excess, obsolete or scrap<br />

electronic inventory needs. It has led the industry in developing new markets for<br />

otherwise end <strong>of</strong> life products (http://www.axcesstech.net/). The relationship was<br />

only a one-year deal to accommodate the internship <strong>of</strong> an ACM student.<br />

3.35 Puratos (2002-2004)<br />

The Puratos group provides ingredients, technologies, and solutions for bakers,<br />

patissiers and chocolatiers (http://www.puratos.com/). It was a short-term<br />

<strong>partner</strong>ship that provided exposure to two students.<br />

3.36 ICTSI (2003-2005)<br />

International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) is involved in the<br />

development, acquisition, management, and operation <strong>of</strong> container ports and<br />

terminals all over the world (http://www.ictsi.com/). In the two-year period, five<br />

students interned in the company.<br />

3.37 Kimberly Clark Philippines (2003-2005)<br />

Kimberly-Clark Corporation engages in the manufacture and marketing <strong>of</strong> various<br />

health care products worldwide (http://www.ph.kcpr<strong>of</strong>essional.com/). Their<br />

marketing department tapped the talent <strong>of</strong> the ACM students during a two-year<br />

period.<br />

3.38 Master Foods (2003-2005)<br />

Master Foods provides a <strong>of</strong> products that includes recipe bases, finishing sauces,<br />

stir fry sauces, mustards, marinades, sauces, dips, herbs and spices<br />

(www.masterfoods.com). Only one student interned with the company for two<br />

terms.<br />

3.39 AS Louken (2004-2006)<br />

A.S. Louken is a consulting firm that provides strategy development, branding,<br />

franchising, operations systemization, overseas market penetration, integrated<br />

design communications and other advisory services<br />

(http://www.aslouken.com/who.html). The two-year relationship that provided<br />

internship exposure to six students was terminated when the General Manager left<br />

the firm.<br />

3.40 Filinvest <strong>De</strong>velopment Corporation (2006-2008)<br />

Filinvest is a providers <strong>of</strong> condominiums, houses, and rent to own properties in<br />

the country (http://www.filinvest.com.ph/). The company was able to provide<br />

work exposure for three students.<br />

3.41 Ernst & Young (2008-2010)<br />

Ernst & Young provides assurance, tax, transaction and advisory services<br />

(http://www.ey.com). A student, who initiated the <strong>partner</strong>ship, interned with the<br />

company for two terms.<br />

3.42 Virbac Regional Office (1999-2000)<br />

Virbac is the first independent laboratory dedicated to animal health and a<br />

recognized expert in the sector (http://www.virbac.com/). It was a two-year<br />

<strong>partner</strong>ship to accommodate the three term internship <strong>of</strong> an ACM student.<br />

3.43 Globe Telecom (2003, 2009)<br />

PLDT is a telecommunications provider in the country that <strong>of</strong>fers fixed line,<br />

wireless, and information and communication technology services<br />

exposure to three ACM students.<br />

4.0 Company Internships for only one term<br />

4.1 AM Euro Pharma (1999)<br />

Am-Europharma Corporation is a manufacturer <strong>of</strong> ethical drugs and<br />

pharmaceutical products, both branded and generic, in the country<br />

(http://ameuropharma.com/). It was a one-term, one-student internship<br />

engagement.<br />

4.2 Ayala Corporation (1999)<br />

Ayala Corporation is the holding company <strong>of</strong> one <strong>of</strong> the oldest and largest<br />

business groups in the country (http://www.ayala.com.ph/). The engagement was<br />

for only one trimester for two students.<br />

4.3 Pepsi Cola (1999-2001)<br />

Pepsi Cola bottles the Pepsi soda brand. It was purchased in 1989 by the Lorenzo<br />

family (http://www.pepsiphilippines.com/). The internship <strong>partner</strong>ship was shortterm<br />

as it accommodated the internship <strong>of</strong> only two students.<br />

4.4 Zurich Philippines (1999-2001)<br />

Zurich is a large insurance group serving customers in more than 170 countries<br />

(http://www.zurich.com/). The student-initiated <strong>partner</strong>ship lasted only for one<br />

trimester.<br />

4.5 Chemical Industries (1999)<br />

Chemical Industries is the holding company <strong>of</strong> major corporations primarily<br />

engaged in the manufacture and sale <strong>of</strong> industrial chemicals. The CIP subsidiaries<br />

and affiliates are also in general insurance and personal care products<br />

4.6 CS Garments (1999)<br />

CS Garments manufactures woven shirts for men and juniors as well as woven<br />

shirt blouses for ladies (http://www.csgarment.com/). It was a one-term, onestudent<br />

Only one ACM student interned with the company.<br />

4.8 Makati Shangrila (2002)<br />

Makati Shangri-<strong>La</strong>, Manila is a luxury hotel for business and leisure travelers<br />

(http://www.shangri-la.com/). One student took her three internships with the<br />

hotel.<br />

4.9 Pacific Internet (2002)<br />

Prime Communications is an Internet Protocol (IP) communications service<br />

provider (http://www.pacific.net.ph/aboutus.html). It was a one-trimester, one<br />

student engagement.<br />

4.10 Security Bank (2002)<br />

Security Bank is a private domestic universal banks<br />

4.11 Westin Philippine Plaza (2002)<br />

The Westin Philippine Plaza was a business and convention hotel. The hotel was<br />

later purchased by S<strong>of</strong>itel<br />

4.12 Yehey (2002)<br />

YEHEY! Corporation operates search engines and portals<br />

(http://www.yehey.com/). Two ACM students interned with the firm.<br />

4.13 Zeller Plastics (2002)<br />

Zeller Plastik manufactures snap-hinge closures and dispensing systems for a<br />

variety <strong>of</strong> industries such as personal care, households, food and beverages<br />

(http://www.zellerplastikasia.com/). It was a one-trimester, one student<br />

engagement.<br />

4.14 Export Industry Bank (2003)<br />

Exportbank is a local commercial bank catering to the premium middle market<br />

businesses and high net-worth individuals (http://www.exportbank.com.ph/).<br />

This is another one-term, one-student engagement, initiated by the student.<br />

4.15 Jimac Inc. (2003)<br />

Jimac is a s<strong>of</strong>tware company dedicated to providing affordable, fully integrated,<br />

industry-specified retail management solutions nationwide (http://www.jimacinc.com/).<br />

4.16 Manila Memorial (2003)<br />

Manila Memorial Park is the largest memorial park company in terms <strong>of</strong> number<br />

<strong>of</strong> parks and development (www.manilamemorial.com/). There was only one<br />

ACM student who interned with the organization for one trimester.<br />

4.17 Philippine Star (2003)<br />

The Philippine Star is a daily English-language broadsheet newspaper based in<br />

Manila and circulated nationwide in the Philippines (http://www.philstar.com/).<br />

An ACM student initiated the <strong>partner</strong>ship for a one-term internship.<br />

4.18 Proctor and Gamble (2003)<br />

P&G is the maker <strong>of</strong> household products. The firm also makes pet food and water<br />

filters and produces a soap opera (http://www.pg.com). The internship program<br />

<strong>of</strong> P&G is held during the summer months which make it difficult for ACM<br />

students to participate in. However, one student was able to make arrangements<br />

for her internship with the firm.<br />

4.19 3M Philippines (2004)<br />

3M serves the health care and highway safety markets to <strong>of</strong>fice products and<br />

abrasives and adhesives (http://solutions.3mphilippines.com.ph). A student was<br />

able to arrange for a one-trimester internship.<br />

4.20 Consolidated Paper Products Inc. (2004)<br />

Consolidated Paper Products, Inc. is engaged in the manufacturing and<br />

distribution <strong>of</strong> a wide range <strong>of</strong> paper products from Stationary, Office and<br />

Security form. One student interned with the company for one term.<br />

4.21 Green Cross (2004)<br />

Green Cross manufactures and sells rubbing alcohol under the brand names Green<br />

Cross (http://www.greencross.com.ph). It was a one-term, one-student internship.<br />

4.22 Lowe Lintas (2004)<br />

Lowe Lintas is an advertising agency. One student interned with the company for<br />

one term.<br />

requirements: International Forwarding by Air and Sea, Customs Clearance,<br />

Domestic Forwarding. It provided a one-term internship for an ACM student.<br />

Pfizer Inc. is a large research-based pharmaceutical company. It discovers,<br />

develops, manufactures, and markets leading prescription drugs<br />

4.26 Summit Media (2005)<br />

Summit Media is a magazine publisher in the country with at least 20 titles under<br />

human resource management in the industry interned with the company for one<br />

trimester.<br />

4.27 Anchor Insurance Brokerage (2006)<br />

Anchor Insurance Brokerage is a subsidiary <strong>of</strong> San Miguel Corporation. In 2006,<br />

three ACM students interned with the firm.<br />
