Dear FOX customer,
Thank you for your business and support in the 2009 model year. We understand
that you have many choices for suspension and we appreciate the continued
trust you have in our team and our products.
The 2008 Race Season was the best in FOX history. FOX Racing Shox
sponsored athletes won 43 championships in our Mountain Bike Division, 2
Snowmobile Gold medals in the Winter X Games, both the WORCS and ATVA
overall championships on FOX equipped ATVs, the 85cc class at the US Open
in Las Vegas, the Trans Orientale Rallye, and multiple CORR Off-Road races.
There is no suspension company in the world supporting racing across as many
markets, in as many countries, as FOX Racing Shox.
The cross fertilization between the disciplines listed above gives us an
unparalleled knowledge base and understanding of vehicle dynamics, versus
our bicycle suspension supplier competition. That knowledge is one of the
reasons we go racing. The other is simple: our mutual customers. Both address
the enthusiast segment of mountain biking with our products, and what better
way to say we care about our customers than to be there hanging out with
them and helping them on race day.
We always try to be our own toughest critics. So, for 2010 we’ve brought out
more new products and product improvements since the original introduction
of FOX forks. 1440g cross country forks. 1470g trail forks. 150mm travel 32s.
We have the all-new FIT RLC 32 fork dampers across the line. Boost Valve
technology brought into the FLOAT line up of rear shocks. The all new RC4
shocks will be brought into our coil shock line up after over one year of testing
on the World Cup circuit, and so on. We’re hopeful the product line we’re
going to show you for 2010 proves that the intellectual property and financial
partnerships we’ve forged this past year demonstrate a stronger and hungrier
FOX going forward.
Our sprinter van is on the road year round visiting retailers to educate them on
the ease of servicing FOX products and providing set-up and feature/benefit
instruction for FOX products. For 2009 we’ve added a second sprinter van
to the FOX fleet to cover even more retailers and grassroots events. Say hi
to Scott, the driver of the second van when he comes by your area in the
upcoming season. Please call us and set up your free clinic if you want to be
the best-trained FOX dealer possible.
Thank you for taking the time to review the 2010 FOX Racing Shox collection of
forks and shocks. We look forward to working with you in the coming year.
Regards,
The FOX Team
philosophy
At FOX Racing Shox we race what we sell and race what we manufacture
on our production line. We take product off the assembly line and send it to
our world class sponsored athletes, confident it will perform flawlessly. We utilize
the world’s best testers — our sponsored athletes — as an integral part of
our product development process, knowing there is no harsher test of a product’s
worthiness than to mount it onto a professional athlete’s race machine.
The new FIT dampers in our 32mm RLC models and the new from the ground
up shocks like our DHX RC4 and RC2, are examples of the products that can
come from this kind of process.
In 2009 we made incredible strides in stiffness and improved damping
performance throughout our fork line, to the point that our athletes asked us
to develop rear shocks giving them the same Velcro traction and ride control.
Our Engineering Team took this advice and started development of the
new DHX line as well as working on adding our patented Boost Valve
technology to our RP23 and RP2 shocks.
At FOX Racing Shox, we are a racing based, product driven company and we
don’t limit that winning, performance driven attitude to just the race course. It
happens everyday within FOX. And really, that’s the reason the products come
out the way that they do. Our founder Bob Fox said, “It’s a competitive world
out there. It’s a Darwinian world. Our goal is to make the best product a customer
can buy. That’s where we started, that’s where we are today and we’re
not going to sit back and say we’re done. We’re never done.”
NEW FIT RLC
AND Rl DAMPER
NEW FIT RLC DAMPER
New FIT RLC damper design reduces oil volume and lightens the fork by 71g.
Damper design minimizes un-sprung weight providing faster tire response
while maximizing traction.
FIT damper eliminates fluid aeration to provide consistent damping and lockout
firmness in the roughest of terrain.
New super wide low-speed compression range allows rider to choose from
plush to platform-firm ride and is easily manipulated for on-the-fly tuning while
the shim controlled mid and high-speed compression damping is tuned to
provide superior travel control.
FOX’s patented lockout threshold force adjuster provides a wide blow-off
force range and is relocated to the center of the lockout lever for ease and
improved accessability.
New shim-controlled rebound circuit and rebound adjuster provide speed
sensitive damping which maximizes traction and control throughout the stroke.
New bladder design provides the lowest friction for sealed dampers.
NEW FIT RL DAMPER (OE ONLY)
New FIT RL damper design reduces oil volume and lightens the fork by 67g.
Damper design minimizes un-sprung weight providing faster tire response
while maximizing traction.
FIT damper eliminates fluid aeration to provide consistent damping and lockout
firmness in the roughest of terrain.
New tuned Low-speed compression circuit and shim-controlled mid and highspeed
compression damping provide superior travel control.
New shim-controlled rebound circuit and rebound adjuster
provides speed sensitive damping which maximizes traction
and control throughout the stroke.
FIT damper uses new bladder design which provides
the lowest friction for sealed dampers.
Unique bladder design, which provides the
lowest possible friction for a sealed
damper, reduces fluid aeration for
enhanced suspension consistency, and
reduces unsprung weight for faster wheel
response and increased steering precision.
ALL NEW FROM THE GROUND UP.
LIGHTER. PLUSHER.
MORE TRACTION, CONTROL
AND PERFORMANCE.
The FIT damper originally designed for the demanding rigors
of world cup downhill racing is now redesigned to meet the
needs of cross country, trail and all-mountain riders. Found
in our RLC and RL models throughout our 32mm fork line, the
FIT’s decreased weight and improved performance make our
new FIT damper an important part of the recipe for your
lightweight bike needs. Get FIT and feel the difference.
RLC DAMPER
NEW Lockout force
adjust knob location
(RLC only)
NEW Rebound knob
is now located on the
bottom of the damper.

The 15QR system is ideal for 32mm forks and
has the same strength characteristics found
on forks with 20mm thru axles.
Compared to a 9mm open drop out, the
15QR system greatly increases torsional
and transverse shear stiffness, resulting in
improved steering precision and front end
confidence.
With our clockable thread, there is never a
need to unthread and re-adjust the QR nut.
The QR lever will always end up in the proper
position for optimal axle tension.
Every rider can now enjoy quicker, tool-free
wheel changes from one side of the bike.
25 percent
increase in Transverse Shear Stiffness
15 percent
increase in Torsional Stiffness
TRANSVERSE SHEAR: a 25 percent increase in transverse
shear stiffness means the fork legs function as a single
unit, improving suspension performance and front end
confidence when forces on the wheel are not even on
each side — rocks, roots, ruts ... mountain biking.
Torsional Stiffness: FOX’s legendary torsional
stiffness is further improved by 15 percent for increased
rider confidence.
SAy goodbye to road parts on your
mountain Bike
FOX and Shimano developed the 15QR system to improve the lives of Cross-Country and
All-Mountain riders everywhere. The tool free 15QR Thru Axle makes for fast wheel
changes and increased stiffness to weight ratio. The 15QR offers a lighter system weight
than a 20mm Thru Axle and greater stiffness than a standard 9mm open dropout. Welcome
to the new world order.
17
Axle Stiffness: A properly designed thru axle system
is going to provide better torsional and transverse shear
performance than an open dropout axle system. FOX and
Shimano chose the 15x100 as the appropriate blend of
weight, stiffness and packaging for the XC, Trail, and light
duty All Mountain applications.
clockable thread: You never have to adjust your QR skewer nut to find the perfect tension. Set it and forget it.

The Flagship XC Fork drops weight and competitors
In 2009 we presented the completely redesigned 32 F-Series chassis improvements including the revolutionary new
15QR system, new crowns, steerers and lower legs which improved suspension performance and rider confidence.
For 2010 we have turned inward, with a completely new design of the FIT RLC and FIT Remote dampers. The FIT
damper uses a unique bladder design, which provides the lowest possible friction for a sealed damper, reduces
fluid aeration for enhanced suspension consistency, and reduces unsprung weight for faster wheel response and
increased steering precision. The ergonomic, handlebar-mounted remote lockout offers riders flawless transitions
between open and lockout damping modes. The F-Series forks can now boast a reduction in both weight and
friction throughout the fork, resulting in better small bump sensitivity and increased front wheel traction. From
World Cup XC to week-long stage races and everywhere in between, the F-Series forks are the most versatile and
desirable cross country forks available.
BOOST VALVE® IS FOX’S PATENTED POSITION SENSITIVE DAMPING TECHNOLOGY,
WHICH COMES IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT APPLICATION SPECIFIC CONFIGURATIONS:
• BOOST VALVE DAMPING CAN BE UTILIZED IN THE BEGINNING OF THE STROKE TO ACHIEVE PROPEDAL
peDALING EFFICIENCY.
• BOOST VALVE DAMPING CAN BE UTILIZED AT THE END OF THE STROKE TO PROVIDE A BOTTOMLESS FEEL AND
cONFIDENCE INSPIRING ENDING STROKE CONTROL.
• BOOST VALVE DAMPING CAN BE UTILIZED THROUGHOUT THE STROKE OF THE SHOCK, PREVENTING SUSPENSION
OVERSHOOT AND UNWANTED RIDER-TERRAIN INDUCED MOTION.
After years of developing and racing Boost Valve equipped shocks we’ve garnered an understanding of where
and how to apply this versatile and high performance tool. The result, a new from the ground up DH shock, the
FOX DHX RC4. The FOX DHX RC4 utilizes Boost Valve position sensitive damping for the last 1/3rd of the shock
stroke where the confidence to launch big, or the control when a landing transition is not perfectly hit, can be the
difference between winning and merely staying upright.
boost valve comparison
(force vs. DISPLACEMENT)
force
The integration of Boost Valve technology into our FLOAT RP shock family
is an entirely new application for this precise race oriented tool, mating our
World Cup proven Downhill technology with our lightweight FLOAT chassis
for increased rider control, traction and bottom-out resistance.
These FLOAT shocks maintain ProPedal pedaling efficiency and the intuitive
adjustment scheme you’ve come to know and love in the RP23, and
then make bumps disappear and jump landings seem tame. Making this
the only shock on the market combining this level of light-weight pedaling
efficiency with gravity inspired bump eating performance and control.
Downhill Prodigy, born on the race circuit
The DHX® RC4 is a new from-the-ground-up, purpose-built downhill shock specifically engineered to the
demands of the world’s most brutal downhill courses and the athletes who make them look easy. In only
its first year of testing on the World Cup Circuit, the RC4 became the benchmark of performance, helping
sister and brother teammates Rachel and Gee Atherton win the Downhill World Championships.
Externally adjustable high and low speed velocity sensitive damping and a completely redesigned Boost
Valve® for position sensitive ending stroke control, act independently from each other allowing the rider
to dial in the perfect balance of traction, small bump compliance and big-hit absorption. A larger diameter
shaft lowers internal pressures and increases oil flow throughout the entire shock allowing for a wider range
of tuning. Embrace your inner World Champion.
DHX RC FAMILY FEATURES
• Externally adjustable high speed velocity sensitive damping (RC4 only)
• Externally adjustable low speed velocity sensitive damping
• Redesigned Boost Valve is focused on handling bottoming loads for increased
confidence on big landings and missed transitions
