Message from the Commodore
The Aberdeen Boat Club is proud to announce the Jebsen
Marine Waglan Race Series 2010-2011.
I would like to thank Jebsen Marine for their continued
support of the Series.
The Waglan Series is held over the late summer and winter
months and usually rewards competitors with ideal
sailing conditions. The series is the premier racing event
of the Aberdeen Boat Club, and comprises a mixture of
island and geometric courses in the interesting waters on
the south side of Hong Kong Island. Prize giving will be
held immediately after each race in the Waglan Bar.
I trust you will enjoy the hospitality of the Club both at
Middle Island and the Main Clubhouse before and after the
races.

Message from the Sponsor
Jebsen Marine is very pleased to be the major sponsor of
the Waglan Series for the third consecutive year.
The Jebsen Marine Waglan Series coincides with the best
sailing period in Hong Kong between October and April.
The waters south of Hong Kong island can be very
challenging, presenting some of the toughest moments
in the winter months with low temperatures and humid
conditions.
It is great to see the high level of enthusiasm from the
owners, skippers and crew of the yachts participating.
The intensity of racing is getting higher, and the yachts
don’t fight for minutes but for seconds on corrected time,
all very exciting.
We wish all competitors safe, fast and fun racing.

CLUB INFORMATION
Mooring
Subject to availability, temporary moorings can be provided, in either Deepwater Bay or Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter, for
boats wishing to stay overnight before or after the race. Details may be obtained from the Club Sailing Office on
2553 3032.
Car Parking
Unfortunately, car parking is not available for visitors on the race day. However, there is public car parking at the
Aberdeen Marina Club or in the Jumbo Car Park in Welfare Road.
Club House
Visiting competitors from the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club and Hebe Haven Yacht Club may sign chits on the race day
on presentation of their club membership card. Other visiting competitors may purchase cash coupons from the Club
office or main bar.
The Galley serves a full range of food and beverage and is open from 0800 to 2300 hours. Lunch is served in the Four
Peaks Restaurant from 1230 to 1500 hours and dinner is served from 1830 hours. Last orders are 2200 hours. Shorts are
not permitted in the restaurant in the evening and casual clothing should be clean and smart.
Ships Stores & Fuel
Drinks, ice and take away food are available from the Galley and fuel is obtainable from the Aberdeen Marina Club fuel
pier opposite the Club.

Notice of Race
The Organizing authority is the Aberdeen Boat Club.
1) RULES
The series will be governed by:
a) The Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012.
b) The prescriptions of the Hong Kong Sailing
Federation (HKSF).
c) The IRC Rules 2010 Parts 1, 2 and 3.
d) The HKPN Handicap System as administered by
the HKPN Committee.
e) Class Rules where they apply.
f) This Notice Of Race and the Aberdeen Boat Club
Standard Sailing Instructions.
g) In case of conflict between any of the above,
succeeding items take precedence.
2) ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRIES
a) Entry is open to all cruisers holding a valid
2010-2011 IRC certificate.
b) All other qualifying cruisers and multihulls with
a valid HKPN rating.
c) All other Sports Boats and J80s with a valid SBR
certificate.
d) Series entrants should notify the Sailing Secretary

e) Entries on the day of racing may be accepted at the
discretion of the Race Officer.
f) Late boats wishing to enter should inform the
Committee Boat at the earliest opportunity on VHF
Channel 72.
3) DIVISIONS
a) IRC Division: Keelboats with valid IRC
certificates. This Division may be divided into
Classes based on IRC ratings at the discretion of the
Race Committee.
b) HKPN Division: Keelboats who wish to race under
the HKPN rating system.
c) Sports Boats and J80s: Boats who wish to race
under the SBR rating system.
d) Multihulls: Catamarans or tri-marans who wish to
race under the HKPN rating system.

5) START TIMES
The first warning signal for all races will not be
before 10:55.
6) COURSES
a) All Island Courses will start in the vicinity of Round
Island.
b) All Geometric Courses will be held in the vicinity
South East of Lamma Island.
7) ADVERTISING CATEGORY
a) Boats may be required to display advertising
chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.
8) PRIZES
a) Day Prizes: Day prizes will be awarded to each
first place boat in a Division at the Aberdeen Boat
Club Waglan Bar, directly after each race.
b) Overall Prizes: Subject to entries, overall prizes
will be awarded for first, second and third place
boats in each racing division at the ABC Annual
Prize Giving.
