the Computer Olympiad. Prizes<br />

Odyssey 2007 unravels the beauty of English language<br />

The English festival Odyssey<br />

unleashed a wealth of talent and unravelled<br />

the beauty of English language and<br />

literature through a series of<br />

competitive events like debate,<br />

creative writing, turncoat,<br />

painting and dramatics contests.<br />

This 4-day International English<br />

Literary Festival “Odyssey-2007”<br />

was organized by CMS,<br />

Mahanagar from 8 to 11<br />

September 2007 at CMS Kanpur<br />

Road auditorium. Around 500<br />

students from Nepal, Pakistan and<br />

various states of India participated<br />

in it. The overall championship<br />

was won by Maria's Public<br />

<strong>School</strong>, Guwahati in the junior section and<br />

Loyola <strong>School</strong>, Jamshedpur in the senior<br />

section.<br />

Educational Technology Development Programme<br />

A 3-day International Educational<br />

Technology Development Programme<br />

(ETDP) was organized by CMS, Kanpur<br />

Road at its huge auditorium. The Chief<br />

Guest, Mrs Poonam Sodhi, Head,<br />

Research, Development and Consultancy,<br />

Council for the Indian <strong>School</strong> Certificate<br />

Examination, New Delhi inaugurated the<br />

programme. Around 134 Principals,<br />

educationists and scholars from the best<br />

schools and colleges as well as educational<br />

societies of Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan,<br />

Sri Lanka and various states of India<br />

participated in this programme aimed at<br />

Indo-Japan exchange<br />

CMS will be sending students of<br />

classes IX and XI to participate in the<br />

Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for<br />

Students and Youths (JENESYS)<br />

Programme being funded by Japan<br />

ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF).<br />

International Festival of Education –<br />

“Global TIE - Global Trends and<br />

Innovation in Education” from September<br />

16 to 19 at CMS Kanpur Road auditorium.<br />

The conference was inaugurated by<br />

Hon'ble Mr Daddan Mishra, State Minister<br />

of Medicine, Govt. of U.P. Mr Rajendra<br />

Prasad, former Minister of Revenue, U.P.<br />

Govt. and present MLA was the Guest of<br />

Honour. Renowned educationists from<br />

Pakistan, Nepal and various parts of India<br />

participated in this international event.<br />

They discussed the <strong>latest</strong> trends in<br />

education in order to make them more<br />

useful and meaningful for students and<br />

to prepare the students to face the<br />

ISSF-2007 concludes<br />

The five-day International Students<br />

Fair ISSF-2007 organised by CMS<br />

Mahanagar (II) concluded on 8 August<br />

with a glittering prize distribution<br />

ceremony held at CMS Kanpur Road<br />

auditorium. (see results on page 8)<br />

It was a great joy for the whole CMS<br />

family to witness the launching of website<br />

of CMS Founder-Manager Shri Jagdish<br />

Gandhi on 2nd October 2007, the birth<br />

anniversary of Founder of the Nation<br />

Mahatma Gandhi. The website was<br />

inaugurated by Shri R.K. Mittal, IAS,<br />

Principal Secretary, Education, U.P.<br />

An ardent follower of the principles of<br />

Bapu, Shri Jagdish Gandhi has further<br />

extended the ideas of truth, love, nonviolence,<br />

simplicity of life and noble<br />

thoughts for the greater good of mankind<br />

and unity of the human race. His life long<br />

mission, inspired by the ideal of Vasudhaiv<br />

Kutumbakam is to unite the world and<br />

establish a world government that would<br />

ensure the safe future of 2 billion children<br />

It was a memorable occasion for<br />

Lucknowites when Mr P Chidambaram,<br />

the Finance Minister of India came for a<br />

book reading and book signing session of<br />

his book ”A View from the Outside – why<br />

good economics works for everyone.”<br />

The interactive sessions saw many<br />

eminent dignitaries turning up. Mr Jagdish<br />

Gandhi, Founder of CMS was among the<br />

invitees. Mr Chidambaram presented a<br />

specially autographed book to Mr Gandhi.<br />

Road auditorium on 14-15 October 2007.<br />

addressed the students besides many<br />

other educational experts. Heartiest<br />

congratulations to the PDCC team for the<br />

thumping success of this Conclave!<br />

A 30-member delegation of CMS,<br />

Rajajipuram, RDSO, Mahanagar, Chowk<br />

and Gomti Nagar branches returned<br />

victoriously from Singapore after bagging<br />

1 gold, 2 silver and 7 bronze medals at<br />

the International Mathematics Competition<br />

organized by Beijing Hecate Centre of<br />

Cultural Communication held there. While<br />

Syed Danish Hassan of CMS Gomti Nagar<br />

won a gold medal, Aishwarya and Prachi<br />

Jha of the same branch won silver medals<br />

each. Besides these, seven students who<br />

won bronze medals and brought laurels<br />

to the institution were Shubham Agarwal,<br />

Fatima Zainab Rizvi and Ahmed Rasheeq<br />

of CMS Chowk, Abha Upadyay and Ketan<br />

Makkar of CMS Rajajipuram, Ahsaan<br />

Zameel of CMS Mahanagar (III) and Robin<br />

Pre-primary Kids Bonanza<br />

organised by CMS Station Road<br />

CMS, Station Road organised a two<br />

day inter-school programme for fun and<br />

learning 'Kids Bonanza 2007' for the<br />

students of pre-primary classes on<br />

September 26 and 27, 2007 at CMS,<br />

Kanpur Road auditorium. Children spread<br />

their magic with colourful folk dances,<br />

enjoyable music and competitions like<br />

'tearing and pasting', 'colour me up',<br />

'dough time', 'I love nature' etc.The<br />

performance of tiny tots was indeed<br />

commendable.<br />
