PROPERTY AND CONSTRUCTION GROUP<br />

The <strong>London</strong> <strong>Chamber</strong> <strong>of</strong> Commerce Property <strong>and</strong> Construction Group is an established support<br />

forum for all members who are concerned in any way with <strong>property</strong>, building development,<br />

planning, design <strong>and</strong> <strong>construction</strong>. The Group has an annual programme <strong>of</strong> eight events, designed to<br />

encourage networking <strong>and</strong> industry awareness.<br />

BREAKFAST CLUB<br />

The Property <strong>and</strong> Construction Breakfast Club is a series <strong>of</strong> six briefings, each featuring a keynote<br />

address from a leading industry figure. These events are exclusively open to Premier Plus members<br />

<strong>of</strong> the <strong>London</strong> <strong>Chamber</strong> <strong>of</strong> Commerce, although members are welcome <strong>and</strong> encouraged to book<br />

places for non-member guests, making these a cost-effective solution for client entertainment.<br />

Property <strong>and</strong> Construction Breakfast Club events are designed to help you exp<strong>and</strong> your network <strong>of</strong><br />

contacts, promote your business to a targeted industry sector <strong>and</strong> gain access to leading industry<br />

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?<br />

Each <strong>breakfast</strong> <strong>club</strong> provides a unique opportunity to network with a maximum <strong>of</strong> 80 key<br />

players within the sector <strong>and</strong> features speakers within specific sector areas, as suggested by our<br />

members. Unlike other sector networking events, we limit the size <strong>of</strong> each <strong>breakfast</strong> <strong>club</strong><br />

audience to 80 people to ensure you have the opportunity to meet as many senior decision<br />

makers as possible, as well as the guest speaker.<br />

Commencing at 8.15am with registration <strong>and</strong> a <strong>breakfast</strong> networking reception, the keynote<br />

address will take place at 9.00am, followed by a question <strong>and</strong> answer session at 9.30am. Formal<br />

proceedings will conclude around 9.45am with guests invited to stay <strong>and</strong> network until 10.00am.<br />

Steve Rice joined DOE as a Graduate Quantity<br />

Surveyor in Birmingham in 1975. He moved on<br />

promotion in 1979 to work with the Directorate<br />

<strong>of</strong> Army Quartering at Chessington. In 1984, he<br />

took up appointment as a member <strong>of</strong> the<br />

integrated design team in Germany before being<br />

promoted to B2, when he was posted to project<br />

manage an IT project in <strong>London</strong> <strong>and</strong> then on to<br />

head a specialist advisory unit. In 1989, he was<br />

promoted to B1 <strong>and</strong> joined MoD working for AUS<br />

(PL) attached to the Defence Works Planning Team.<br />

Colette is Development Director for L<strong>and</strong><br />

Securities <strong>London</strong> portfolio.<br />

She is responsible for some <strong>of</strong> the most high-pr<strong>of</strong>ile<br />

development projects in <strong>London</strong>, including One<br />

New Change in the City <strong>of</strong> <strong>London</strong>, Park House in<br />

the West End <strong>and</strong> the extensive redevelopment <strong>of</strong><br />

our holdings in Victoria. Colette joined L<strong>and</strong><br />

Securities in 2003 <strong>and</strong> prior to that was Head <strong>of</strong><br />

Estates at the Mercers Company.<br />

Following a posting to Germany as DWA Germany,<br />

in 1995 he took up appointment as Director<br />

Germany for the newly formed Defence Estates<br />

Organisation (at the merger <strong>of</strong> Defence L<strong>and</strong>s <strong>and</strong><br />

Defence Works Services). In 1997, he was posted<br />

to support the RAFIO at RAF Benson <strong>and</strong> he<br />

spent the following year at the Royal College <strong>of</strong><br />

Defence Studies. In 1999 he was appointed as<br />

Regional Manager DE South East region, followed<br />

by his appointment in 2002 as IPTL for Project<br />

SLAM. He spent a short time as Regional Manager<br />

for the DE Central Business Unit before taking up<br />

the appointment <strong>of</strong> Director Operations North on<br />

the 1 June 2004. In early 2010, Steve was<br />

appointed as the Programme Director for the<br />

£6bn Next Generation Estate Contracts<br />

programme.

Nigel Keen joined the John Lewis Partnership in<br />

1999 as Deputy Director <strong>of</strong> Building, <strong>and</strong> is now<br />

Property Services Director responsible for the<br />

delivery <strong>of</strong> the development programme for both<br />

Waitrose <strong>and</strong> department stores. Nigel also has<br />

responsibility for the Waitrose <strong>property</strong> portfolio.<br />

<strong>London</strong> <strong>Chamber</strong> <strong>of</strong> Commerce <strong>and</strong> Industry<br />

(LCCI) <strong>and</strong> CRASH<br />

LCCI is proud to be a partner <strong>of</strong> CRASH;<br />

the <strong>construction</strong> industry's charity for homeless<br />

people. CRASH focuses on improving the<br />

buildings used by homeless people. This unique<br />

relationship helps us support our many members<br />

in the Property <strong>and</strong> Construction sectors; it helps<br />

us secure high level industry specific speakers for<br />

our events, <strong>and</strong> to raise our pr<strong>of</strong>ile amongst the<br />

sector, related media <strong>and</strong> existing CRASH<br />

supporters <strong>and</strong> Board members. LCCI does not<br />

carry out fund-raising on behalf <strong>of</strong> CRASH.<br />

Waitrose is currently the fastest growing<br />

supermarket in the UK growing from 122 stores in<br />

2000 to over 250 including representation in the<br />

Channel Isl<strong>and</strong>s this year.<br />

Nigel has also overseen new initiatives which have<br />

made significant strides in reducing the company’s<br />

environmental impact. The John Lewis Partnership<br />

has also derived 100% <strong>of</strong> its energy from green<br />

sources <strong>and</strong> in 2010 it topped the Environmental<br />

Investigation Agency 'Chilling Facts' report in<br />

recognition <strong>of</strong> cutting refrigeration emissions. New<br />

innovations have reinforced the Partnership’s ethos<br />

on corporate social responsibility. In 2008 Waitrose<br />

became the first UK supermarket to introduce<br />

Anaerobic Digestion <strong>and</strong> the first supermarket to<br />

use tomatoes to power a store.
