PROPERTY AND CONSTRUCTION GROUP
The London Chamber of Commerce Property and Construction Group is an established support
forum for all members who are concerned in any way with property, building development,
planning, design and construction. The Group has an annual programme of eight events, designed to
encourage networking and industry awareness.
BREAKFAST CLUB
The Property and Construction Breakfast Club is a series of six briefings, each featuring a keynote
address from a leading industry figure. These events are exclusively open to Premier Plus members
of the London Chamber of Commerce, although members are welcome and encouraged to book
places for non-member guests, making these a cost-effective solution for client entertainment.
Property and Construction Breakfast Club events are designed to help you expand your network of
contacts, promote your business to a targeted industry sector and gain access to leading industry
figures, in a relaxed club-like setting.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
Each breakfast club provides a unique opportunity to network with a maximum of 80 key
players within the sector and features speakers within specific sector areas, as suggested by our
members. Unlike other sector networking events, we limit the size of each breakfast club
audience to 80 people to ensure you have the opportunity to meet as many senior decision
makers as possible, as well as the guest speaker.
Commencing at 8.15am with registration and a breakfast networking reception, the keynote
address will take place at 9.00am, followed by a question and answer session at 9.30am. Formal
proceedings will conclude around 9.45am with guests invited to stay and network until 10.00am.

Steve Rice joined DOE as a Graduate Quantity
Surveyor in Birmingham in 1975. He moved on
promotion in 1979 to work with the Directorate
of Army Quartering at Chessington. In 1984, he
took up appointment as a member of the
integrated design team in Germany before being
promoted to B2, when he was posted to project
manage an IT project in London and then on to
head a specialist advisory unit. In 1989, he was
promoted to B1 and joined MoD working for AUS
(PL) attached to the Defence Works Planning Team.
COLETTE O'SHEA
DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR, LAND
SECURITIES LONDON PORTFOLIO

Colette is Development Director for Land
Securities London portfolio.
She is responsible for some of the most high-profile
development projects in London, including One
New Change in the City of London, Park House in
the West End and the extensive redevelopment of
our holdings in Victoria. Colette joined Land
Securities in 2003 and prior to that was Head of
Estates at the Mercers Company.
Following a posting to Germany as DWA Germany,
in 1995 he took up appointment as Director
Germany for the newly formed Defence Estates
Organisation (at the merger of Defence Lands and
Defence Works Services). In 1997, he was posted
to support the RAFIO at RAF Benson and he
spent the following year at the Royal College of
Defence Studies. In 1999 he was appointed as
Regional Manager DE South East region, followed
by his appointment in 2002 as IPTL for Project
SLAM. He spent a short time as Regional Manager
for the DE Central Business Unit before taking up
the appointment of Director Operations North on
the 1 June 2004. In early 2010, Steve was
appointed as the Programme Director for the
£6bn Next Generation Estate Contracts
programme.

Nigel Keen joined the John Lewis Partnership in
1999 as Deputy Director of Building, and is now
Property Services Director responsible for the
delivery of the development programme for both
Waitrose and department stores. Nigel also has
responsibility for the Waitrose property portfolio.
London Chamber of Commerce and Industry
(LCCI) and CRASH
LCCI is proud to be a partner of CRASH;
the construction industry's charity for homeless
people. CRASH focuses on improving the
buildings used by homeless people. This unique
relationship helps us support our many members
in the Property and Construction sectors; it helps
us secure high level industry specific speakers for
our events, and to raise our profile amongst the
sector, related media and existing CRASH
supporters and Board members. LCCI does not
carry out fund-raising on behalf of CRASH.
Waitrose is currently the fastest growing
supermarket in the UK growing from 122 stores in
2000 to over 250 including representation in the
Channel Islands this year.
Nigel has also overseen new initiatives which have
made significant strides in reducing the company’s
environmental impact. The John Lewis Partnership
has also derived 100% of its energy from green
sources and in 2010 it topped the Environmental
Investigation Agency 'Chilling Facts' report in
recognition of cutting refrigeration emissions. New
innovations have reinforced the Partnership’s ethos
on corporate social responsibility. In 2008 Waitrose
became the first UK supermarket to introduce
Anaerobic Digestion and the first supermarket to
use tomatoes to power a store.
