DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT (<strong>EA</strong>)<br />
SAN DIEGO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT MASTER PLAN<br />
NORTHSIDE IMPROVEMENTS<br />
PROPOSED ACTION: The <strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong> County Regional <strong>Airport</strong> Authority (SDCRAA)<br />
proposes a number of projects at <strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong> <strong>International</strong> <strong>Airport</strong> (SDIA) which<br />
comprise the Northside Improvements for the SDIA Master Plan. SDCRAA has<br />
identified specific physical improvements to allow the <strong>Airport</strong> to effectively continue its<br />
mission of serving <strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong>’s commercial air transportation needs as forecasted<br />
through 2020. These Northside Improvements include the following projects:<br />
• Consolidated rental car facility<br />
• Air cargo warehouse facilities<br />
• Terminal link roadway<br />
• On-site road and utilities improvements<br />
• Relocate Runway 9 displaced threshold from 700 to 1,000 feet<br />
PURPOSE OF PUBLIC SCOPING MEETING: The meeting will provide an<br />
opportunity for public and agency comment concerning the potential environmental<br />
effects of the Northside Improvements to be identified in the <strong>Draft</strong> <strong>EA</strong>. The public<br />
scoping meeting will consist of a brief overview presentation of the project and the<br />
environmental review process. Attendees will have an opportunity to provide oral and<br />
written comments on the scope and content of the <strong>Draft</strong> <strong>EA</strong>.<br />
INFORMATION REGARDING THE NORTHSIDE IMPROVEMENTS and<br />
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT: The <strong>EA</strong> will be prepared in accordance with the<br />
National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to examine potential impact categories as<br />
required by Federal Aviation Administration Order 5050.4B. Once prepared, the<br />
<strong>Draft</strong> <strong>EA</strong> will be available for public and agency review and comment at the SDCRAA<br />
website www.san.org under the Environmental Review/CEQA+NEPA webpage.
