Dive deeper into the forest on trails<br />

that crisscross inside the outer loop and<br />

you’ll find some challenging terrain. Some<br />

trails get progressively more difficult and<br />

rockier, so use caution. Virtually every part<br />

<strong>of</strong> the park is open for exploration. You<br />

can test your rock or hill climbing skills,<br />

splash through some water-filled areas,<br />

and get down and dirty in some mud.<br />

During the summer, the Marathon<br />

Off-Road ATV Club holds at least three<br />

motocross races at the park. If you’re interested,<br />

call Bill Bell at 715/355-6120, ext.<br />

123 or Randy Curtis at 715/675-6330; or<br />

log on to www.motobill.com. Regardless<br />

<strong>of</strong> the schedule, you might catch some racers<br />

practicing their skills anytime in the<br />

park. Because the park’s popularity continues<br />

to increase, it’s important to be cautious<br />

as you ride.<br />

The park is funded by annual grants<br />

from the <strong>Wisconsin</strong> DNR derived from state<br />

ATV registrations. The Village <strong>of</strong> Tigerton<br />

administers the park. The nominal fees<br />

charged riders fund trail maintenance and<br />

improvements. Fees can be paid at the<br />

kiosk near the entrance or in the main<br />

building, which is <strong>of</strong>ten staffed during the<br />

busy times <strong>of</strong> the year.<br />

When winter arrives, the park remains<br />

open. Many <strong>of</strong> the trails are groomed and<br />

some are shared by snowmobiles. <strong>Ride</strong>rs<br />

can warm up in the main building that<br />

remains open 24/7 November thru May 1st.<br />

In addition to its Challenge Area and<br />

trails, the park <strong>of</strong>fers 37 campsites for<br />

tents and RVs, many along the Embarrass<br />

River. There’s even a family camping area<br />

for larger groups. Electrical hook-ups are<br />

available and a new shower and laundry<br />

facility bring all the comforts <strong>of</strong> home right<br />

to your campsite. An RV dump station,<br />

potable water and firewood are also available.<br />

After a day’s ride, you can rinse <strong>of</strong>f<br />

your quad in the wash bay. If you need<br />

food or fuel, a trail heads out <strong>of</strong> the park<br />

south to Hwy 45, then north into Tigerton.<br />

The winding Embarrass River cuts<br />

through the park near the Challenge Area.<br />

The river holds a native population <strong>of</strong> trout<br />

and is popular with canoeists. If you’re<br />

feeling particularly lucky, Mohican North<br />

Star Casino & Bingo (800/775-2274,<br />

www.mohicannorthstar.com) is located in<br />

Bowler, just twelve miles north. They <strong>of</strong>fer<br />

slots, blackjack, roulette, craps, poker and<br />

bingo.<br />

When you want to ride a welldesigned<br />

ATV park, come to Tigerton. It’s a<br />

shining example <strong>of</strong> “If you build it, they<br />

will come.”<br />
