Advent Talks..."What Happens at Mass?" Seminarian
Joseph Previtali, a student from the North American College
in Rome, continues to explore the theology of the Mass in this
Advent series - 4 Thursdays: November 29th, December
6th, 13th, and 20th, from 7:00 - 8:00 pm in the church.

Happy New Year 2008 - Welcome the New Year and
celebrate with St. Anne's Aerobic & Line Dancing Class and
the Fil-Am Society of St. Anne's on Monday, December 31st
in the Moriarty Hall: No-Host Bar, 6:30 pm; Dinner, 7:30 pm;
Dance with the music by DJ Master until 12:30 am, January
1st. Tickets will be available before and after Masses this
weekend in the vestibule. Cost: $25.00/per adult; Children (6

ADVENT & CHRISTMAS
Dear friends, we have entered the beginning of the
Blessed Season that helps us prepare and celebrate in
a special way the birth of our Lord Jesus. During these
four weeks of Advent, we are given the opportunity to
be grateful and contemplate on God’s immense love
for us through the gift of His Son.
We respond in good acts and prayer through the
various activities and services laid out for us during
this time. We will include in our weekend liturgies the
simple rite of lighting the Advent Candles and eventually
the Christmas Candle on the wreath. A copy of the rite
is provided in each pew and it guides us on the various
themes which the four Advent candles and the
Christmas candle represent. The Giving Tree was a
great indication of the parish’s remarkable generosity.
We are grateful to those who have sponsored and
adopted 50 poor children by fulfilling some of their
little wishes this Christmas.
Indeed in so many ways, we could benefit from this
season: The Advent Talks regarding the theme on
“What Happens at Mass?;” the Celebration of the
feasts honoring our Blessed Mother’s Immaculate
Conception and with her great title, Our Lady of
Guadalupe; the general cleaning/decoration of the
Church; the Community Celebration of the Sacrament
of Penance with Individual Confessions; the Parish
Christmas Party and many more. Please refer to the
Schedule of Services mailed out to you or that are
available along the Church entrances.
Finally, an ordinary observance of Christmas Season
seems to begin in the fall, as stores are decorated with
holiday displays and end on December 26, that is,
when Christmas trees start to pile up in our trash.
However, celebrating Christmas as Catholics means
that we follow the Church calendar that has come
from a rich tradition and wisdom in the Church.
Christmas season begins with the Evening Prayer and
the Christmas Eve Liturgy (December 24) and
continues through the Baptism of the Lord (January
13, 2008). We will be talking more on how we can
celebrate Christmas in a more meaningful way and at
its proper time in our faith life.

Simbang Gabi- Join eight parish communities in a Novena
of Masses at St. Stephen Church, 451 Eucalyptus Drive at
6:00 am from December 16 - 24. St. Anne will host the
festivities on December 22nd. Fr. Ray Reyes will be
celebrating the Mass with eucharistic ministers, lectors,
ushers and altar servers from our parish. Archbishop George
Niederauer will be the main celebrant at the Mass on
December 24, the final day of the Novena.
IN THE ARCHDIOCESE:
Do You hear A Calling? This is an invitation to all Young
Adult Men (21 - 40) to a Priesthood Discernment Retreat
Weekend where you can reflect on your call in life and
diocesan priesthood. The weekend is February 1 -3 at St.
Patrick Seminary and University, Menlo Park. Interested?

Our Lady of Guadalupe - All are invited to a Mass and
Reception with mariachis at St. Thomas the Apostle Church,
Balboa Street at 40th Avenue, San Francisco on Saturday,
December 8 at 6:00 pm. If you so desire, bring your favorite
dish to share with others.
The Good Shepherd Guild cordially invites all to attend
their Annual Christmas Luncheon at the Olympic Club,
Lakeside, to benefit the Sisters of the Good Shepherd
Gracenter on Wednesday, December 19. Social Hour at
