Lachenay moves around in his literary world. The opening scene is him
rushing home to get his things and head off to the plane. He’s constantly
rushing from place to place to be adored briefly by this group or to say his
important thoughts on Balzac.
But there are moments where he stops, and he listens to Molière with his
daughter and one of his questions is “Before I go, can I see my daughter?”
He has a definite love of his child. He understands that pure kind of love;
important they are, and that’s something that you leave behind—far more
important than these papers he’s writing or these lectures he gives.
