Weishaupt industrial burners
WK40 to WK70
for combustion air temperatures up to 250°C
1/2000 CA

General
Weishaupt WK type industrial
burners were developed to meet
special industrial and commercial
requirements. The burners are
suited for operation with or
without preheated combustion air
as required. Very high flue gas
temperatures occur on many
industrial processes (e.g. thermal
fluid boilers) due to the high
media temperatures. A
considerable amount of energy
can be recovered from the hot flue
gases by using a heat exchanger
in the flue gas system to recover
the heat. This technology can
result in improvements in
efficiency of up to 8%.
The burners are also often used on
installations without preheated
combustion air. Reasons for this could be
as follows:
● The customer requires a separate
combustion air fan.
● An industrial burner is specified.
● The resistances in the heat exchanger
are too high to use a monobloc burner.
● The combustion rating is too high to
use a monobloc burner.
Burner types WK40 and WK50
Burners operating with preheated
combustion air are supplied with an
insulated burner housing and a coolingair
fan unit, for which a separate coolingair
fan is supplied. An oil pump is fitted
on oil and dual fuel (oil/gas) burners and
residual oil burners are further equipped
with an electric preheater. On request,
the WK 40 burner can be supplied with a
separate pump and preheater assembly -
this is often the case with industrial
installations. The burner housing is not
insulated for burners operating at normal
combustion air temperatures.
Burner type WK70
Burners operating either at normal
combustion air temperatures or with
preheated combustion air are both fitted
with internal insulation as standard. For
burners operating at normal combustion
air temperatures the internal insulation
serves as a sound absorber and
consequently the burner noise level is
below 85 dB(A). The pump and
preheater assembly is supplied
separately.
Combustion air
max. 250° C
Picture showing boiler, heat exchanger and Weishaupt Industrial Burner
Insulated burner housing for
preheated combustion air
The insulation of the burner housing
prevents the emission of temperature
and noise. Even with combustion air
temperatures of 250 C, the surface
temperature of the housing is less than
100 C. On WK40 burners the oil pump
and, where applicable, the oil preheater
are fitted away from the burner housing
and are thus protected from the heat. A
separate cooling air fan is supplied to
cool the control unit and the flame
monitoring device.
Tried and tested components
Sizes 50 to 70 have the same mixing
assembly as is used on the size 50 to 70
Monarch burners.
Simple maintenance
Diffuser, ignition electrodes and the gas
mixing assembly are easily accessible
when the cover is opened. The flame
tube can also be taken out through the
opening in the housing once the mixing
assembly has been removed. The oil, gas
and air regulating components are neatly
arranged and are easily accessible.
Fuels
The oil burners fire distillate and residual
fuel oils to DIN 51 603 with a viscosity
up to 6 mm 2 /s at 20°C (distillate oil EL)
or 50 mm 2 /s at 100°C (residual oil S).
The gas and dual fuel burners are tested
for use with the following gases to EN
437 and DVGW Worksheet G260/I:
natural gas E (formerly designated
natural gas H) and natural gas LL
(formerly designated natural gas L), as
well as liquid petroleum gas.
General
Standard execution burners (material,
construction and protection) are
designed for operation indoors within a
temperature range of -10°C to +40°C
(details on special measures for oil
storage in sub-zero temperatures and on
operation outdoors are available on
request). There are various special
executions available on request, such as
additional equipment to comply with TRD
604 or new technologies such as
electronic compound regulation (ECR),
O 2 trim and speed control.
Description
Regulation
The burners alter their capacity
proportionally, depending on the heat
requirement. Depending on the type of
control the burner is either:
■ sliding two stage (basic version)
■ modulating
The servomotor run time between partial
and full load is 42 seconds. With sliding
two stage regulation, the partial and full
load positions are fixed within the
regulating range. Depending on heat
demand, the burner slides to one load
point to the other, thus preventing rapid
cycling.
By fitting a suitable controller into the
control panel the standard sliding two
stage burner can be fully modulating.
Modulating burners operate at any load
point within the burner range, depending
on the heat required.
WKGL40/2-A
Increased safety due to nozzle head
shut off device with nozzle solenoid
A type tested shut off device is fitted in
the nozzle and shuts off the oil flow
directly in the nozzle orifice. No fuel oil
can leave the nozzle head, thus
increasing safety.
Nozzle recirculation on residual oil
burners
During prepurge on residual oil burners,
heated oil circulates through the nozzle
and oil line system so that on flame
establishment the oil is at the correct
temperature.
Precise oil temperature regulation
with a Weishaupt oil preheater
Weishaupt residual oil burners are fitted
with oil preheaters, which maintain the
preheated temperature and thus the fuel
viscosity constantly at the desired set
value. This results in uniform atomisation
and combustion efficiency.
WKGL40/2-A
Flame supervision
The burner control box, which is fitted in
the control panel, sequences burner
operation automatically. It monitors the
flame by means of a flame sensor.
lies within one of the full-tone areas.
The capacity ranges are based on an installation altitude of 500 m
above sea level.
