Meet Our Elders...
Hi! I’m Roy Gerald Hooper, born
to G. A. “Bud” and Edna (Knupple)
Hooper on 2/16/1953. I’m a 1971
graduate of Spring High School,
and was Christian educated and
confirmed by Pastor Beltz at Trinity
Klein. I have one brother and sister:
Kenneth and Donna. My father and
uncle are Bud & Bud the Hooper
Twins, who had a country & western band that was very
prominent in the SE Texas area for fifty years.
I have been married for 15 years to Kathaleen “Kat”
Sonnier Hooper. I have one step-daughter Krystal, and
one grandson Deuce. As hobbies, I have roped for years,
trained race horses for 10 years, play drums & tenor
saxophone, and I fish and golf.
I have worked for North Houston Pole Line for 34 years,
and have been an OSL member for over 10 years. My
elder zone consists of those in 77304, 77316, 77318,
Hello, I’m Brian Nitsch. I was born in August of 1958 at
Heights Hospital. I grew up off of 249 in the Klein area
of Houston. I attended OSL School from kindergarten
through 8th grade. My mother, Evelyn, taught at both
OSL School and Sunday School. My father, Earl, was a
member of the OSL Board of Trustees. Grandpa Otto
Nitsch was and “undocumented” (most likely to protect
his wallet) Charter member of OSL. I graduated from
Klein High School and then completed 2 years at Blinn
College in Brenham, Texas.
After my education, I became a master plumber with what
was then known as Sopchak Plumbing in Spring. Then
in the early 80s, I went to work for Jake’s Finer Foods in
the Heights. It was at Jake’s where I met my wife, Vickie
Sweeney, and we married in 1991. Several years later, I
returned to plumbing with the same
company in Spring, now known as
Theiss Plumbing, as a master plumber.
Vickie and I reside in Spring, and I
grab every opportunity to go hunting
or fishing. My elder zone is 77014,
Dear OSL Family...
From the very bottom of my heart,
I want to express to you how special
you are to me. This is the place where
my Father reached out to me in the
flowing waters of Baptism. This is the
place where, as a little child, dedicated
Sunday School teachers instructed me
and taught me about our great Lord
Jesus Christ and His compassion
for His brothers and sisters. This is
the place where great men of God
like Pr. White and Pr. Glammeyer
gave me a glimpse of what it means
to care for Jesus’ little flock. You
were the ones who willingly and
gladly supported me for four years
with prayers, gracious words, hugs, encouragement, and
financial support. I say this with all seriousness, without
you all, seminary would never have been possible.
It was so special to be ordained here at my home church.
To see all of your faces, to join with your voices in praise,
and to read all of your cards made me overwhelmed with
gratitude; the BBQ meal afterward made me a very proud
Texan. It was also such a great surprise to receive a Thomas
Dubois painting that depicts Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem;
such a beautiful gift!
In so many ways, you have all reflected the love and light
of Christ; you have been God’s grace to me. And now, here
I am, ordained into the precious ministry to reflect that
same love and light of Christ. It is with a heavy heart now
that I say goodbye to you all. You will truly be missed. If
you are ever in Peoria, please come by and see me. I love
you, and I pray that the Lord Jesus will continue to work
His Good Spirit within you so that you may be built up
and strengthened for His work.
Grace and Peace,
Rev. Matthew Synnott
Dear OSL Family,
We want to express our sincere gratitude for all the cards,
prayers, and sweet comments about Helen (Memaw)
during the last few months. A personal thanks to Pastor
White for being there ANYTIME we called, Pastor
Simcak, Lona Reeves, Martha Markert, Stu Moehlman,
Loretta & Bon Appétit, and the ladies in the church office.
We are truly blessed to be a part of Our Savior. Your care
and concern was very comforting.
Thank You From The Babies
Our mobil Pregnancy Center, better known as The BUS, is
very busy. Since January 2012 they have saved 222 babies!
Parise to the LORD! We have made and donated 243
receeiving blankets so that each of these 222 mothers have
taken a baby blanket home.
Thanks to you all for generously providing materials for the
blankets. Over 230 yards of flannel and 24 skiens of yarn
were bought in June and we have some money left to buy
more. Members also donated material and yarn.
Living Word, in The Woodlands, has been helping for a year
and now Trinity DT will be buying materials and crocheting
blankets. Pilgrim and Concordia are also helping.
God has greatly blessed the mission of The BUS and we are
privileged to be a part of saving these children.
Celebration
July 1, 2012
Pot Luck &
Picnic
Sports Pavilion
Sunday, June 3, the voter’s assembly of Our Savior Lutheran Church
met to vote on two action items. The first was to approve the location
of the outdoor sports pavilion that will be adjacent and connected
to the west side of the gym. The second item, and what I believe
shows a tremendous amount of support for the school and the
Parent Teacher League, was the approval of spending $125,000 to
support and assist the PTL in paying for the project, which will also
allow the entire project to be completed hopefully by the end of this
summer. The gym is being prepared for the construction of a covered
sports court that will be equal in size to our basketball court. The
picture illustrates the area where the court will be constructed. The
trees that needed to be removed have already been taken care of,
and although the picture doens’t show it very well, there is still a
large forested area remaining in this particular area of our beautiful
60 acre campus.
The ground work needed to prepare for the concrete slab of the sports
court is nearly complete. Numerous modifications and relocations
have been made to drainage, gas lines, and light poles to prepare
the area. Once the rain stops, (praise God for this rain!), it shouldn’t
take much longer to finish the dirt work at which time the contractor
can come in and begin work on the court itself.
This is a major capital improvement and the first of its kind since the
dedication of the
church in June of
2000. To God be the
glory, great things
He has done.
