editor’s note
For me, the quality of being InJoy comes
from just feeling good about what we
do, what is happening and who we are,
- to one’s self and others. It’s not about
achieving high levels of happiness or
a string of elated experiences—it may
be a sense of deep serenity, breaking
through the last stage of grief when you
finally let go, or when you overcome a
personal limitation that kept you from
being your true self… InJoy can express
itself through an unknown feeling that
makes you tingle all over. People feel
that when they sing, dance, love,
meditate and watch children shine
when they smile and laugh… elders
holding hands still remembering the joy
of sharing intimacy. There are so many
ways to be in joy... be in.. be joy.
Speak of beautiful things, focus on best
outcomes, happenings and memories if
you must go back and remember that
everything is perfect as it is—and be
sure of one thing, change will come...
and love.
THE TIME IS NOW
It is a wonderful thing that after a six-month unavoidable and
unexpected break InJoy is spreading through our community
again… and beyond.
I love making InJoy Magazine and connecting with you all.
I was looking for an enthusiastic yes when I resumed creating InJoy
first launched in 2008 and what I received from most existing advertisers
and some new was - “Oh yes please, we have really missed it…”
The true value of InJoy Magazine is recognised through the most
common feedback I hear … “Oh I know that magazine, I love it,
makes me feel good… where can I find a new one.”
InJoy Magazine is all about sharing… people’s stories, pictures,
memories, dreams, passions, interests… it’s a place to feel people’s
voices through the words and pictures they choose to share.
InJoy advertisers are as much a part of the story as is the content
and imagery. These advertisers deserve recognition as their trust
and community values are strong and true enough to inspire them
to invest and support our voices through advertising, making InJoy
possible.
Thank You.
This thirty-two page publication has great quality and integrity and
is always free and available to anyone… everyone.
I encourage you to frequent InJoy advertisers... blessings to all.
InJoy has been much of a love job for me for the last three years.
The returns have been great, miraculous and soul serving. Now it is
time to open more doors and welcome all you new advertisers who
have had the thought about being InJoy before... now is the time.
Call me on 0403 135 372, send a text or leave a message
or email editor@injoymag.com
If support flows in then InJoy will return for WINTER 2012...
if not then thank you, this is a divine journey...
COME
said the flower to the bee . . .
by bhadrena rose
These days a buzz of a bee
can send a garden into
frenzy as flowers eagerly
wait to be pollinated.
Blind sighted by desire,
flowers farthest from the
buzz lash out with the
sharpest edge of well-razored
leaves and this harshness can
force the more delicate breeds
to shrivel back and wilt…
even before they get to
bloom.
Another flower
joins the challenge,
barging at the bee
with more scent than a
humble bee can handle.
Mesmerised and confused
the bee bounces off many
flowers, distracted from
integrity, lost in competing
signals… pollinating here
and there.
Other flowers can be
contaminated by the chaos as
petals are pulled and stems
twist stories into plots of
poison.
Too many antics over
centuries of seasons can
push a species beyond
decency, until on mass the
flowers seem to be ripping
up their roots that once held
them in place—now rushing
at bees until they are trapped
or flee…
This analogy is for contemporary women, and girls blossoming into womanhood—
and for men who want to remember heaven’s scent.
Once there was a natural time when flowers happily gathered in the garden together.
Seduced into gentle movement by the wind’s breathe they reach up to flourish under
the sun’s golden glow, emanating a spectrum of colour across the landscape.
Together they existed to create an enchanting space… as can a
single flower standing alone. A kaleidoscope of colour, texture, size
and shapes. Young buds dangling from the stems of open flowers in
their glory aspire to share their beauty . . . soon.
Time is cyclic, bees will come and go. Flowers are always
attractive when in bloom and a bee’s instinct will lead
him to the flowers he wants to pollinate. Different flowers
draw certain bees close, this is the nature of things… a truly
mysterious force.
No one knows why less bees follow the natural way these days.
No one really knows who were the first flowers to pull up their roots and
rush from the garden… setting an unfortunate precedent in their
flurry.
The garden has had many seasons of unrest since that first
shift. Historical records and reason have justified the many
changes… and still the bee does come, propelled with
nature’s destiny in his jeans… whoops, genes.
But these days he must maneouver a range of unfavourable
tactics and unfortunate temptations to find flowers who still
holds heaven’s scent… and are willing to share. Sadly much
of the garden has been corrupted and what an approaching
bee may find is often a shame.
Flowers too commonly pull at other petals, vying for yet
another position. Some rip away their own roots and
give chase. There are flowers who rip at other’s roots and
these are not always the likes of venus fly traps—no even
the most alluring bunch can be less than sweet.
And then too very young blossoms begin to prance out in
front of the bunch, guided by the sway of wilting violets still clinging to seasons from
long before. And nearly all flowers incessantly flap their petals in the breeze and this
unnecessary chatter may become as a strangling vine smothers a sapling.
The need to propagate and control the garden’s growth can become obsessive and
the static from these flowers can overpower the buzz of an unsuspecting bee… or
drown the crescendo of crickets at dusk.
and
The chase, tactics, unnecessary competition and unwanted
jealousy—all these unfortunate qualities lace the modern garden…
and this is not the saddest part of this fractured fairytale.
The greatest shame I see is young blossoming buds who wiggle
with allure before their petals have even opened…
buds filled with tomorrow’s beauty are being distorted
misguided before they emanate their own divinity.
And what do the young bees do now?
Integrate
Is Stress a Signal for Awakening?
by John Douglas © 2012
Stress is our body/mind’s natural response to a hectic modern
lifestyle. It’s a message to slow down. It begins as a whisper
in the body and gets louder and louder till something
eventually snaps: tense and tight, muscles contracted and
jaw clenched desperately trying to stay in control. Thoughts
begin to churn out of control, tumbling over each other and
often we are focused on the future, all the things we need
to get done… or the past, something we feel incomplete
about or regret, wallowing, resistant and often are driven by
those reoccurring thought about ourselves… “I’m worthless,
life’s hopeless, I’m a terrible parent… and no one loves me
because I am unlovable”.
Stress can be conscious and also unconscious… and our
compulsion to keep it all together, just keep going at all costs
is because we are afraid of what might happen if stop or
simply let go.
Everyone suffers from tension and stress on some level at
some time, it ebbs and flows through our systems. It is our
teacher and our lesson is to manage our stress levels so to
create a healthy lifestyle. Unchecked and unmanaged stress
can accumulate as toxins in the body and in the nervous
system and can lead to a whole range of dis-ease and can
lead us on a downward spiral.
Choice One • Have Another Latte
Keep driving the machine (your body/mind/nervous system)
onwards to complete everything and meet the pressures
from the outer world. Coffee has become the popular drug
of choice in the industrial world because it works like a credit
card. It gives us access to energy we don’t have like a credit
card gives us access to money we don’t have.
Choice Two • Simply Stop
Take a deep breath. Close your eyes and go inside. Stop and
feel. Feel the tension. Take some time out. Sip a relaxing tea
instead of something stimulating. Focus inwards. Prioritise
and rearrange your schedule and make some space for
yourself. Share with a friend, laugh and discharge stress.
Then you can return to your day refreshed with renewed
energy… your cycle of stress needs to be broken for a new
perspective to enter.
Choice Three • Disengage Completely
Go for a walk, swim at the beach, get a massage, lie down
and just be still for a moment, switch off your phone, unwind
in water, make love . . . smile.
For most of us stress has to reach an acute level before we
deal with it. The insidious aspect of this cycle is that we live
with rising ebbs and deeper flows, thinking we can handle it
all, that we are on top of it until suddenly we ‘loose it’ and feel
completely out of control and fall apart.
The strange thing is that often the more tense we are the
harder it is to stop and unwind. It’s almost more painful to
stop than to keep going on auto-pilot. Sometimes when we
stop we may have to face feelings we have been avoiding.
Always keeping busy can be a great distraction from deeper
feelings.
Managing stress is an exercise in awareness. It is a journey
that has the capacity to eventually take us home if we find
the right path. It really is all about the choices we make and
finding balance between doing and being… when we master
being we master our life experience.
7
Too much doing, too much working, too much talking,
too much thinking, too much driving, too much time on
the computer, too much worrying, too many unfelt and
unresolved feelings. We experience pressure at work, pressure
at home and this can set up an unhealthy cycle. Instead of
feeling supported and nurtured at home by our family we find
ourselves confronted and struggling around control, then
we can feel guilty, blaming, ashamed, victimised, resentful…
and more exhausted. This is the toxic cycle of stress. It leaks
out into every aspect of our lives like battery acid, corroding
everything we hold dear.
Remember we do have choices. We can listen to our body
that constantly giving us little signals. We feel it in the eyes,
we feel it in the shoulders and the neck and the back. We feel
drained or agitated. We do have a choice…
It seems successful people are busy and so many of us become
obsessed with packing in as much as possible in a day. For
now onwards we all need to give ourselves permission to
take some time to recharge and relax in between our busy
schedules.... turn the phone, computer and TV off, unplug

your thoughts of the outer world and unwind, reflect, relax
and hold space for our inner selves.
A good barometer of our stress levels is whether we are
able to stop and listen. Listen to your breath, listen to the
sounds of nature… and listen to the silence.
The breath is a very simple and powerful tool. A few
conscious breaths will turn our attention inside and return
us to the here & now. This is a significant shift because
when we are stressed we are not present. It is this sense
of here & now presence that is the key to transforming our
awareness. It’s important for each of us to find our own
unique way or ways of accessing this sense of our inner
sensitivities and our place of inner peace. Meditation.
Dancing. Swimming. Martial Arts. Surfing. Walking. Yoga.
Massage. Commune with nature. Listen to music. Making
love. Relaxing in hot water. Playing… there are so many
ways to choose from.
For me the sauna takes me home every time. My tension
dissolves easily in the heat, toxins are released rapidly My
body relaxes at a very deep level, tense muscles melting
in the heat, stressful thoughts dissolve as my attention is
drawn inward and I am left feeling serene, recharged and
present with my life. It works every time.
And of course my favourite place for this is KIVA SPA, an
oasis of peace nestled in the heart of Mullumbimby... see
our colour advertisement on page 30 of this edition.
Ultimately when we are stressed we are stuck in our ego, in
our story, in our separateness. By shifting our perception,
redirecting our awareness, taking a few deep breathes…
from here we can begin to allow, to accept things as they
are, to see your cup always half full and feel connected
abundant and grateful so you can be at peace and trust
the natural ebb and flow of life.
“Emotional adversity is just like the weather,
let it move through.” Matthew and Terces Engleheart
Welcome to the next
evolutionary stage of
ANIMAL
DREAMING...
a bit of history first...
On a warm day in February 1998,
Scott and Trudy opened a little
healing centre in Woori-Yallock, a
small incidental country town in
Victoria’s Yarra Valley.
‘Circle of Stones Healing Lodge attracted
a loyal cluster of customers interested in the
different healing modalities and meditation
classes the centre had to offer. Scott’s readings
and workshops and the thrill of having an esoteric
shop in the Valley that sold spiritual books and
crystals really put this business on the map.
And as is the way when something is ‘right’, Circle
of Stones soon outgrew the little cottage it was
born into and moved to Main Street Warburton,
a town celebrated for its healing energies, the
crystal-laden Yarra River, the snow-capped Mt
Donna Buang and its population of natural
therapists, healers, psychics and teachers.
approach to life helped brand
the well recognised name
‘Animal Dreaming’ and
anchor it as a company of
high integrity, spiritual honesty
and grounding.
The next chapter ...
If you haven’t come in to meet
us yet... across from the cinema in
Jonson Street . . .
Welcome to Animal Dreaming Byron Bay, the
new home of Scott’s work: the new shop, the
new look, new books, new events, retreats
and workshops, a new ever-growing circle of
friends, new healing modalities, services and
experiences . . .
and most importantly, Welcome 2012,
a new and exciting time of unity, healing and
shamanic understanding that encompasses
everything Animal Dreaming represents and
has to offer.’
Scott Alexander King
Our shop quickly became a popular destination
for many of the tourists who flock to Warburton
each year) and it was here Scott wrote his bestselling
book, ANIMAL DREAMING. Here the seed
was planted and since our work is growing into
a strong, powerful and enduring Oak Tree.
Selling Circle of Stones ten years later, we moved
our family north to the beauty of Byron Bay and
again opened a retail shop that continues the
tradition of offering ethical trading while offering
a beautiful range of hand-dug Madagascan
crystals, spiritual books, incense and local art,
with popular workshops and readings based on
my books (of which now there are now several).
EGG WHITE
as a first aid remedy
A young man sprinkling his lawn and bushes with pesticides wanted to check the contents of the
barrel to see how much pesticide remained in it. He raised the cover and lit his lighter; the vapors
inflamed and engulfed him. He jumped from his truck, screaming. His neighbor came out of her
house with a dozen eggs, yelling: “bring me some eggs!” She broke them, separating the whites
from the yolks. The neighbor woman helped her to apply the whites on the young man’s face.
When the ambulance arrived and when the EMTs saw the young man, they asked who had done
this. Everyone pointed to the lady in charge. They congratulated her and said: “You have saved his
face.” By the end of the summer, the young man brought the lady a bouquet of roses to thank her.
His face was like a baby’s skin.
healing miracle for burns:
Keep in mind this treatment of burns which is included in the method of teaching beginner fireman.
First aid consists to spraying cold water on the affected area until the heat is reduced and stops
burning the layers of skin. Then, spread egg whites on the affected are.
One woman burned a large part of her hand with boiling water. In spite of the pain, she ran cold
faucet water on her hand, separated 2 egg white from the yolks, beat them slightly and dipped her
hand in the solution. The whites then dried and formed a protective layer.
She later learned that the egg white is a natural collagen and continued during at least one hour
to apply layer upon layer of beaten egg white. By afternoon she no longer felt any pain and the
next day there was hardly a trace of the burn. 10 days later, no trace was left at all and her skin had
regained its normal color. The burned area was totally regenerated thanks to the collagen in the
egg whites, a placenta full of vitamins.
Pass it on. Sent to InJoy by numerous sources, so it must be a good one!
6 steps to create your
own organic permaculture
garden
Tara Green©2012
NaturalNews Organic gardening avoids the
use of chemicals to make plants grow or
protect them from insects, relying instead
on natural gardening principles used for
thousands of years. Permaculture organic
gardening goes a step further and also
emphasizes growing plants sustainably,
working with rather than against the grain
of the natural environment. Permaculture
organic gardening is growing in
popularity as more people realize that it
offers an inexpensive and relatively lowmaintenance
way to grow their own fruits,
vegetables, herbs and flowers.
1Choosing a location
Observe your property at different times
of day. Consider which areas receive the
most sun, which are in shade for much of
the day. Depending on where you live, if
sunshine is a scarce commodity, you will
want to expose plants to receive as much
as possible. On the other hand, in desert
regions, you will not want your plants to
be in the area most likely to be parched by
sun exposure. Also think protecting your
garden from the paths where strong winds
tend to blow through your property. Even
a small property will have microclimates --
notice these and plant accordingly to give
different plants either more sun or more
shade according to their preference.
2 Selecting plants
Avoid disease-prone plants which require
time-consuming chores such as spraying
and pruning by the gardener. Select
plants which will thrive in your area rather
than those which will require extra labor
on your part to protect them from the
environment. As far as possible, select
plants which serve multiple purposes,
such as fruit trees which will put forth
blossoms in one season, fruit to pick in
another, and provide shade for when
you want to sit and enjoy your garden’s
natural beauty. Native plants are also
more likely to attract local pollinators such
as bees, and to draw butterflies so that
your garden contains even more natural
beauty.
3 Making a home for
your plants
Raised beds require less physical effort on
the part of the gardener and also benefit
plants, providing better air circulation,
more protection from spring chills and
improved usage of water. Raised beds
also mean a small permaculture garden
is an option even for apartment dwellers
and others with little available space since
you can rely on containers and vertical
gardening principles.
4 Feeding your plants
One of the key concepts of permaculture
organic gardening is to avoid waste.
Having a garden gives you a means of
re-using natural waste such as eggshells,
apple cores, coffee grinds as well as yard
waste which many people throw away. You
can either purchase or make a compost bin
to turn this organic material into gardening
gold which can be used to help your plants
grow.
5 Watering your plants
Modern gardeners who do not follow
sustainability principles tend to draw
heavily on piped-in water resources, often
using hoses and sprinklers to make plants
which require abundant water grow in
a desert climate. Permaculture organic
gardening tries to use natural water as
much as possible, maximizing the use of
groundwater and rainwater. Rain barrels
allow you to collect rainfall and extend its
use over longer periods of time.
6 Protecting plants from
pests
Eschewing the use of chemicals does not
have to mean a garden full of pests. You
can use companion gardening principles,
growing plants which deter pests near
those which attract them. There is also
a natural synergy between some plants
which means planting them near each
other increases your yield. Also, just as
some herbs have a medicinal effect on
human health, they also offer benefits to
plants which grow near them. For more
information about companion planting,
visit http://www.appropedia.org/CCAT_
companion_planting and http://www.
gardeningknowhow.com
If you have space and live in an area where
it is permissible to keep poultry, chickens
can make a wonderful addition to a
permaculture garden. If they are permitted
free-range for most of the day, they will
consume many pests. Chicken manure also
contributes beneficial nitrogen to the soil
of your garden.
Discover an obscure,
inexpensive,
Arugula
easy to use
Tasty Superfood
by Paul Fassa
NaturalNews There is yet another cancer
preventing cruciferous vegetable that few
know about. It is perfect for salads or pesto.
Uncooked, the nutrients and enzymes are
preserved. It’s a green called arugula. It’s
health benefits exceed most other greens.
Unlike most cruciferous veggies, arugula
tastes good raw. Preparing arugula is easy.
The dark green leaves let you know arugula is
high in chlorophyll. Chlorophyll molecules are
similar to red blood cells.
Cooking greens to cause them to slightly
lose their bright green luster degrades their
chlorophyll content and intact chlorophyll
helps prevent DNA and liver damage.
The elusive but important vitamin K
family is found in arugula. Vitamin K2
is important for bone absorption of
calcium and not so well understood
is vitamin K’s contribution to
cardiovascular health.
Vitamin K also
minimises brain
matter calcifications
that often result in
Alzheimer’s disease.
Most of the
plaque that forms
inside arterial
wall surfaces is
calcification from
calcium that bones
and teeth don’t absorb
and vitamin K helps keep
calcium from collecting in
the bloodstream and other
soft tissue.
Arugula is high in fiber, which aids digestive
elimination. Vitamin B complex is rich in arugula with
high amounts of folate, the natural source of folic
acid. Arugula is high in vitamin C, A, and P. In addition
to magnesium, iron and copper content is strong in
arugula as well.
Additionally, the phytochemicals in arugula contain
lots of sulfur compounds, which enable the body’s
cells to detox further by helping the liver create more
glutathione. Glutathione is the master antioxidant that
is created by the liver if the right nutrient precursors are
available. It is difficult to find a more nutritious single
plant food than arugula. Though sometimes cleaned
and packaged, buying arugula in fresh bunches with
their roots is optimum. Do your own cleaning. Arugula
bunches resemble fresh spinach bunches.
Arugula should be eaten often to obtain and maintain
its benefits. To make it easier, arugula tastes better
uncooked than all other cruciferous veggies. Mixing
arugula with other greens in salads are obvious easy
choices.
Pesto is another tasty choice for consuming
arugula raw with its nutrients intact.
You can make a pesto using arugula
combined with the traditional basil
leaves and/or cilantro. Cilantro is
recognised as a detoxifying
agent, especially
effective for eliminating
mercury.
All pesto mixes
include lots of leaves
of your choice, a few
pine nuts or walnuts,
some fresh garlic cloves,
sea salt, grated parmesan
cheese (optional), and lots
of cold pressed olive oil all
blended in a food processor.
When you get a thick, porous
texture, apply the pesto to pasta or any other
food, even sandwiches.
Whatever isn’t used can be sealed and
refrigerated. A thin topping of olive oil inhibits
oxidation. Here’s a recipe example to get you
started. Substitute or include arugula/ cilantro
with less or no basil.
personal experience:
Recently a friend of mine had forty
white-tail spider bites... goggle it
and have a look at the effects of
one, intense!
The miracle remedies and healing
agent some of you may know
about, I didn’t but now I do I want
to share it with everyone...
aloe vera
bandaids
I have tried them myself and they
are very soothing and waterproof
for half an hour or so.
process...
Cut a large thick piece of aloe vera
and slice across the leaf to the size
you need. Split this open along the
skin and using a sharp knife take a
slither of gel from inside the leaf to
the size you will need to cover the
wound, as thin as possible.
Remove all the moisture by
pressing the slither inside a paper
while it draws to your body.. if it
slides or slips just repeat the paper
Indigenous Matters
It’s about our tomorrow, but today you and I can make a positive diffference.
Pop Harry Mundine Walker and Aunty Annabel Walker
pictured with great grandson RJ are Elders of the Jubullum
community on the beautiful Rocky River, Tabulam New
South Wales.
Pop and Aunty are warm-hearted people who share and
care for their family of four generations and the mob in
and around their community, and they also share culture
at public opening and events... you may have been
privileged by their presence, story and dance at the Byron
Spirit Festival in Feb 2012. They visit schools, prisons,
community halls and churches to help bring culture to all
people.
Their giving nature makes my heart sing.
Pop Harry is a member of the Bunjalung Elders Council
Aboriginal Corporation and he is a cultural heritage
knowledge holder, Elder and mentor for the Warhlabal
Tribe of the lower Rocky River.
Pop is highly respected in the Jubullum community where
he teaches the language and way beyond his community...
all over Australia people recognise and love Pop Harry and
Aunty Annabel for the way they welcome all people and
share Aboriginal culture with so many.
Pop has made a beautiful six disc DVD boxset where he
shares his stories with you, language, place, history and
Aboriginal culture.
It is called Poppy Harry Mundine Walker.
This is for all the people they do not get to meet on their
travels. It is a first-hand true account of Aboriginality... It is
a treasure and you can purchase this boxset for $80 (plus
postage).
If you email editor@injoymag.com I will personally arrange
your delivery and way of payment.
Recently Pop and Aunty took ten to the Byron Spirit
Festival in Mullumbimby and we put them on a stall and
within minutes of Pop mesmerising the audience with his
story of the GURRAMAN - with kangaroo dance told by
Lewis Walker - there was only one left.
These DVD’s are a valuable resource for all schools, home/
families and anyone interested in Aboriginal culture and
ways of being living with this land.
And... I am delighted to announce that Pop has offered to
share his stories and wisdom in the next edition of InJoy
Magazine... as the feature for Winter 2012.
InJoy Magazine is a portal for community and people to
connect and share their stories and so I would also like to
connect with the community here —
with respect and love, Bhadrena Rose
Before I make a hundred phone calls to speak to a few
people who will most likely lead me along miles of red
tape... I felt to reach out to the private sector of our
community—to the people who read InJoy Magazine.
At Aunty and Pop’s request we share this story with you;
“In 2011 when Brisbane had those big floods we had
big floods here too. SES helped us at the time with
bad emergencies but after that we got no help. Other
people got help, we saw that in the newspaper but we
lost everything. The church gave us the land but the
house was so bad it had to be taken away.
We need a house for our family and we even have our
great grand children with us, which is wonderful. They
dance and speak their traditional language
and this makes us very happy.”
I feel privileged to support these very special people.
I know our community can come together and we
support great causes and people. So I trust also we can
come together here.
Tradesmen, builder, plumbers, electricians, tilers, all of
you, please consider coming together for this project...
you will be recognised.
My other vision is that a kit home company would be
interested in an iconic marketing stratergy, supported
by InJoy Magazine and other media vehicles, using the
establishment of a home on Pop and Aunty’s land in
Tabulam as a vehicle for promotion.
This could become a wonderful project to extend to
other Aboriginal Elders who are sharing culture with all
peoples to ensure the land sings the dreamtime stories
still... for all of us and beyond.
It is with my greatest love and respect I support this
initiative... it is a dream and it is time for dreams to come
true, especially for people like Pop and Aunty who share
much of their precious time caring for family and the
future... they deserve a home to rest and replenish and
keep their family safe.
Thank You.
An Ode to Chris…
Bhadrena Rose
I was blessed to meet Chris just before his passing
last December. It was a deep, brief but profound
connection. I saw him one more time before he
danced into the spirit world at Christmas time
2011. This meeting was again brief but the
resonance of our previous connection remained
and through a glance we remembered.
There are people I have had connections with for
years that have not reached the place with me
that Chris did… in a moment’s grace, the right
moment, the right opening and the connection
was made. This is my experience and I feel to take
this moment to share.
During his passing and after so many questions
were asked, so many stories told, grew and twisted
and grew again and eventually it seemed that
Chris himself was hidden beneath a quandary of
questions.
So it is here that I simply and humbly speak of
Chris, to honour the greatest sparkle in his eye,
the cheek to play with life and step where others
fear to tread. I feel him dancing in the stars and
this brings me great comfort in the expansion of
all things.
TROLL on the net
from Wikipedia the free encyclopedia
In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous or off-topic
messages in an online community such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or
blog with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or otherwise disrupting normal on-topic
discussion. The noun troll may refer to the provocative message itself, as in “That was an excellent troll you posted”.
While the word troll and its associated verb trolling are associated with Internet discourse, media attention in recent years
has made such labels subjective, with trolling describing intentionally provocative actions and harassment outside of an
online context. For example, mass media has used troll to describe “a person who defaces Internet tribute sites with the
aim of causing grief to families.” The “trollface” or “coolface” first appeared in 2008 and is often used to indicate trolling in
contemporary internet culture. Modern usage of the word itself dates from 1980s.
Three years in the making the Byron Shire’s first
sculpture walk has come to fruition.
The Bangalow Sports Field have
a sculpture walk which is a fusion
of ten Northern Rivers artists who
have installed their creations
along the walk… which will be on show
for three to four months. Art along the walk will
hopefully change regularly.
Currently the participating artists are: Daniel
Clemmett, Allen Horstmanshof , Suvira McDonald,
Mel Robyn, Lucy Vader, Glen Sanders, David Walsh,
Noel Walsh, Jim Blower and Craig Raynor.
The walk acts as an open-air sculpture gallery
so artists can present large works to a wider
audience, a wonderful opportunity to have a
look at the ever changing scape of sculpture.
Curator Dev
Lengjel says:
“After three years
we have achieved
the goal to bring
public art to
the Byron Shire.
Council itself
supported the
project with the
concrete pads and
of course council
staff with its
hands on getting
those pads into
the ground.
Artists are the ones
to be applauded,
as they are the
ones putting
up the money
for this venture
by producing
amazing works.
Public art, in this case sculpture, enhances a
communities understanding and wellbeing of
its identity. Public art delights and confronts and
certainly will get everyone talking.
I hope that this venture eventually will attract
monetary support so that artists and curator may
get some financial recompense. I am part of a panel
that has been putting together a public art policy,
which is long overdue, so that public art has a
foundation to work from. with a policy in place we
can hold council accountable as well as apply for
funding in the future.
The involvement and support of the Bangalow
sports association shows that community
groups can work together to facilitate a common
denominator. The art can act as a catalyst for
people to enjoy sports and the sports people may
find the artist in them. a win win situation of the
most creative kind.”
A young journalist covered a story on gender
roles in Kabul, Afghanistan
several years before the Afghan conflict.
At the time she noted that women customarily
walked five paces behind their husbands.
Recently she returned to Kabul and observed that
women still walk behind their husbands.
Despite the overthrow of the oppressive Taliban
regime the women seem content to maintain the
old custom. The journalist approached one of the
Afghani women and asked, ‘Why do you follow with
an old custom that you once tried so
desperately to change?’
The woman looked her straight in
the eyes and without hesitation
explained, “Land mines”.
Solar Lights . . . Inside and Out
posted by Starfire, Universal Energy Grid
If you are ever in a situation where you
are without electricity for a period of time
or want to save power costs, take charged up
solar lights into your home.
You can set them in plastic bottles weighed
down with crystal chips or colorful marbles,
sand, pebbles or aquarium gravel. Bring them
into your house and place them around where
you need light.
They can provide nice, bright, safe, free light!
Set them back out in the sunlight each day to
recharge and bring them in at night.
See for yourself how beautiful they can be. Try
some in each room and see your whole house
light up. They are a perfect source of light and
some can illuminate your space all night long if
you want.
The cost is no more than the effort it takes to
bring them in and set them out each day (plus
of course the initial cost of the lights).
As long as you continue to recharge them
they’ll be ready for use any time, anywhere.
Perfect for power outages… a great but simple
step towards helping the environment in a
beautiful way.
GGK’s‘Kids Village’ in the heart of the Byron Spirit
Festival - February 2012
‘Green Gene Kids’ was
inspired after a 7 day
green smoothie retreat
with ‘Victoria Boutenko’,
based on ‘Green Smoothies’,
the work of ‘Byron Katie’ and
many amazing life revealing
documentaries.
by Donna Grey © 2012
Introducing the ‘Green Smoothie’ to my
daughters at three and five, beginning with
just 1 small cup of each day, transformed my
children into healthier, happier and more aware
beings, reducing their illnesses drastically,
developing their own body tuning senses and
eliminating all processed food cravings.
With this kind of result I was determined to
spread the word and share the results hence,
‘Green Gene Kids’ began as the wholesome
concept that it is.
GGK’s goal is to help as many families as possible
in becoming more ‘aware’, enabling an easier
transition AWAY FROM the ever evolving,
additive laced processed foods, product toxicity,
environmental EMFs (electromagnetic fields
effecting behaviour and development) and
unsustainable over consumerism impacting
the livelihood of our planet, the source of our
only trusted livelihood as the direct result of
extreme systematic conditioning, and MORE
TOWARDS, local organic life giving foods, 100%
natural products, redesigning and recycling toys
and clothes to reduce consumerism, supporting
and building a local economy and reducing all
EMFs.
GGK’s about sharing these necessary and
grown-up concepts with the kids as they
become our change agents and teachers.
Kids respond intuitively and passionately to
anything that actually makes sense. Saving the
planet by learning why and how we can do this,
respecting and understanding our body and
days of plastic toys, processed foods, inconsequential actions and turning a
blind eye. Our kids and the planet need us and we need our kids to know just
how much!
At the March 2012 Julinbah Yowarl Rainbow Corroboree, at the gorgeous
Rocky River, GGKs will be creating another ‘Kids Village’ within the heart
of this festival. A beautiful non-emf space for community connecting, living
foods and creative play in a safe
and healing environment.
GGKs will be running after
school classes to plant seeds for radiant health and well-being. We will explore
green smoothies, nutrition, plants, creative recycling, living in harmony with
mother earth, music and sound healing, meditation and breath work, self
healing and emotional awareness, radiant child yoga, intuitive guidance and
local aboriginal culture, astrology and Mayan beliefs.
Dark green leafy vegetables are, calorie for calorie, probably the most
concentrated source of nutrition of any food. You must take care when making
regular Green Smoothies to rotate the darker leafy greens containing oxalic
acid. They are a rich source of minerals (including iron, calcium, potassium,
and magnesium) and vitamins, including vitamins K, C, E, and many of the
B vitamins. They also provide a variety of phytonutrients including betacarotene,
lutein, and zeaxanthin, which protect our cells from damage and
our eyes from age-related problems, among many other effects. Dark green
leaves even contain small amounts of Omega-3 fats.
Compounds in plants have a beneficial effect the body. There are over 10,000
of them, and they have effects such as antioxidant, boosting the immune
system, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial, and cellular repair. Highly
colored vegetables and fruits tend to be highest in these chemicals
SO WHAT’S IN A GREEN SMOOTHIE?
Simply, any edible green leaf, (kale, bok choy, amaranth leaves, beet leaves,
sprouts, parsley, celery, kang kong, yam leaves... there are hundreds of edible
varieties) organic fruit of which must include solubles, such as; banana, pear,
mango, paw paw, peach, avocados etc (these creamier fruits absorb the rich
nutrients and take out the greener harsh tang of the some of the greens) +
any other fruit, apples, pineapples, watermelon… and good drinking water,
that’s it! Ratios to ‘begin’ with are approx 60% fruit /40% greens and add
50% water.
All blended for a smooth and yummy Green Smoothie. You can choose to add
fresh dates, figs, bee pollen, spirulina and explore with herbs to create the
ultimate green smoothie for health and well-being. For more information:
and I look forward to having a hello and sharing more insights
This is one of the sweetest things I have been sent of late . . .
It is not known who replied but there is a beautiful soul working in the postal
service who touched the heart of our my four-year-old daughter Meredith
after14-year-old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, Meredith
was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey.
She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven
God would recognise her.
I told her that I thought we could, so she dictated these words:
Dear God,
Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you
in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her
as my dog even though she got sick.
I hope you will play with her. She likes to play with balls and to swim.
I am sending a picture of her so when you see her you will know
that she is my dog. I really miss her.
Love, Meredith
We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and
addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it then Meredith
pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would
take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she
dropped it into the letterbox at the post office. A few days later, she asked if
God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.
A few days later there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front
porch addressed, ‘To Meredith’ in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it.
Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, ‘When a Pet Dies’. Taped to the inside
front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On
the opposite page was the picture of Abbey and Meredith and this note:
Dear Meredith,
Abbey arrived safely in heaven. Having the picture was a big help.
I recognised Abbey right away.
Abbey isn’t sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in
your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don’t need our bodies
in heaven, I don’t have any pockets to keep your picture in, so I am
sending it back to you in this little book for you
to keep and have something to remember Abbey by.
Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping
you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have.
I picked her especially for you. I send my blessings every day and
remember that I love you very much.
By the way, I’m easy to find,
I am wherever there is love.
Opals are known to
promote introspection,
dream work, and assist on
spiritual journeys through
awakening clairvoyance.
This uniquely Australian gem
acts as a spiritual mirror,
sparking intuition while
encouraging one’s awareness
to turn inward. A crystal for
inspiration, one that enhances
imagination and creativity—a
great manifesting tool.
Transparent, translucent, or
semi-translucent bodies, when
you can see through an opal you
are probably looking at a crystal
opal. Crystal opals can display any
colour of the spectrum in a beautiful
play of colour.
Lightning Ridge, the home of the
famed black opal, offers hope of an
Australian opal mining industry that
began in the 1800’s will last into the
21st century. A fortuitous discovery
soon led to the establishment of the
world’s largest and most productive
opal field at Cooper Pedy, which literally
translated from the local Aboriginal dialect
means “white man in a hole”.
Year of the Water Dragon . . .
strength, power and a link to the divine
for all in 2012. It’s an electric energy that
is looking to expand with optimism and a
pioneering spirit. But a Dragon, you say?
Don’t they amass gold and kidnap virgins?
Not these dragons! We have to remember
that the Chinese Dragon is not the kind
Tolkien wrote about in The Hobbit, not
our Western mythic creature that knights
had to slay to rescue captured princesses.
Dragons in the East are revered.
They not only are a composite of all
animals, they come from the heavens–the
realm of the spirit. What does this mean for
2012?
First of all, we can see this year as one
where our connection to source energy, to
our higher Self, to expanded consciousness
and our enlightenment augments. Talk
about getting on track to our own wellbeing!
Here are Kim Falconer’s Law of Attraction hints
and tips for the Year of the Dragon 2012 . . .
Rat: 1912, 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008
The Year of the Dragon gains momentum for Rat as things
finally start to fall into place. Key elements are appreciating
what you already have, and setting goals that count. What
you want has to be an authentic desires, not what you
think you should go for according to others expectations.
Try not giving a rip what they think, to get your year of
2012 started right. Romantic encounters with Dragons are
gooooood! Secret friend is Ox.
Ox: 1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009
The year of the Dragon can bring contrast – experiences of
things you thought you wanted but find out you don’t, or
things you don’t want but when they happen, something
good comes out of it all. Because of this, you might feel a
bit indecisive at times. Don’t worry. Trust the road you are
on and any changes you make. The more you can practice
judgment free living, the better. Romance improves as the
year goes on. Secret friend is snake.
Tiger: 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010
In the year of the Dragon, Tiger makes improvement in
relationships though it can mean letting go of a romantic
partner if the alignment isn’t right. This can be a healthy
thing! Just remember, make no big decisions on ‘bad’ days.
If you aren’t feeling light and enthused, then REST. Take
it easy. Do nothing for a time. Think flexible: if one road
isn’t working, take another. You decide when you want a
change! Romance with a horse?
Rabbit: 1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011
In the year of the Dragon, the pace is hectic and it can
be flustering if you feel like you aren’t keeping up. Don’t
worry! Action isn’t your goal this year! Things come to
you when you relax so let go of that ‘it’s too hard’ belief!
Think about your body. Are you looking after yourself with
fitness, exercise and good food? Support your Dragon year
by making your own happiness recipe .Romance improves
when least expected! Eye out for a Dog.
Dragon: 1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012
This is your year, Dragon! The early part of the year is
when you want to launch your rockets and boost all those
positive thoughts about success. Money management is
easier then and you are in the flow! If you feel nervous or
not up to speed with this face paced year, the best advice is
to ‘act as if‘ until, before long, everything you are hoping for
is landing in your lap. The key to enhancing your romance
this year is to tell a different story! About a Monkey?
Snake: 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001
The year of the Dragon can be one of abundance but first ask
yourself, what is rich? When you know what it really means
to you, consider ways to make more money. Much focus
is on career and artistry so you might need reminders to
nurture your love and friendships. If you don’t, the balance
tips and that’s not your road to happiness. Romance
improves mid-year. Secret friend is Rooster.
Insight
Horse: 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002
In the year of the Dragon, you find a steady, peaceful, easy
approach brings the best results. This can be a fabulous
year if you don’t get tangled up in angst and aggression. A
motto might be, I’d rather be happy than right! You decide.
As for home, there is a feeling of expansion, a desire to
move. It might be linked to a new or growing relationship.
Single horses need to decide if they are ready to plunge.
Sheep is your quiet ally!
Sheep: 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003
Year of the Dragon brings new people into your life and
with them comes ideas, opportunities and a feeling of
belonging. The key is to be flexible and spontaneous as
the year races by. Indecision can leave you out of the loop
so practice getting clear on what you are feeling. Breathe.
It’s all working out! Relationships have the chance to go
exactly where you want them to! Secret support from a
Rabbit and Pig!
Monkey: 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004
The year of the Dragon holds as much promise for Monkey
as 2011, if not more. The key is to make peace with what is.
Stop resisting! There are so many opportunities awaiting.
The more you open your mind, the more they come
flooding in. You may also find you manifest change by
changing your space. Move things, and thoughts, around!
When it comes to romance this year, there are no rules!
Snake is loyal to your cause.
Rooster: 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005
The year of the Dragon is going to be fabulous, especially
if you change some of your old beliefs. These are just
thoughts that you keep thinking and if you’re stuck, they
are what’s slowing you down. One quick step to your dream
come true is to be grateful for everything that’s going right,
right now! This approach will make your relationships the
best ever in 2012. There will be much to celebrate on this
matter! Secret friend is Dragon.
Dog: 1910, 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006
The year of the Dragon is full of excitement with much
contrast to show you what you really want and how to focus
on where you want to go! It’s easy to look at things that
aren’t working out and talk about them but this is a year
to keep your eyes on the goal, not the ‘obstacle’. If you can
learn to relax a bit more and trust, family and relationships
improve as well as career and health. Tiger has your back!
Pig: 1911, 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007
The year of the Dragon brings more creative change for Pig.
The important thing is to set intentions with a lightness
of being. Feeling appreciation for where you are NOW is
the way to allow for an even more fulfilling tomorrow. If
you already LOVE your life, think about expanding the
appreciation even further! Relationships and any family
drama transform. It’s a growth curve! Give yourself credit
for success. Secret friend is Rabbit.
WHAT CAN SAVE HUMANITY
NEPTUNE IN PISCES
Whether you‘re into astrology or not, this read could
open up a window of great opportunity . . .
Neptune portrays a myriad of
meanings from the dreamy depths of the
watery unconscious, the longings of spiritual
aspirations, the obsession of powerful desires
to the revelation of the divine beloved.
Some say it is where we seek the ineffable,
or where, conversely, the ineffable seeks
us. This planet also symbolises a place of
confusion and deception because Neptune
is sometimes too intangible for the mundane
world to decipher . . .
Astro-Flash: Neptune into Pisces is
illusive, unconscious, ineffable. It represents a
part of us that can never be defined. Neptune
asks us to experience life without concrete
boundaries, knowledge or proof. Sometimes
Neptune can coincide with confusion . . .
And confusion gets a lot of bad press, right?
Aren’t we told to get clear, know our why, be
aware of our unconscious motives, gremlins
and tolerations?
Clarity is a great way to bring awareness into
our lives but sometimes there is a better one:
hanging out in ‘I don’t know.’ There is a role
in deliberate creation for confusion, chaos,
and lack of clarity and that role is inspiration.
Creation. Artistry. Love.
The eighth century BCE Greek poet Hesiod
said before any of the original deities, there
was chaos. Ultimate confusion! All our
creation myths, in all places in all cultures in
all times, begin with chaos, darkness, water.
The unknown. “In truth at first Chaos came to
be”. . . Hesiod
There is a archetypal metaphor here! To
create something truly new, first there must
be chaos. We have to go back to scratch,
forget what we think, and what we think we
think, and immerse!
Jeannette Maw puts it like this: ‘Sometimes
reality is a handicap to vibrational alignment
because what’s happening in our “real world” is
very different from what we want to create.‘
Neptune is all things unworldly, without
form, ideas that cannot be proven. In esoteric
terms we say it represents what is behind
the veil. This energy, this part of us, wants
Bliss. Reunion with the divine. Merging with
source.
Higher and lower Neptune - My friend
Mystic Medusa talks about higher and
lower Neptune, lower being escapism,
addictions, fears, and phobias because we
want something so far beyond the rational,
mundane experience of life, something
so rarefied and beautiful that we reach
for anything that can ‘drown’ us in the
feeling. Higher Neptune energy is more the
expression of bliss, love and communion with
all life. Source. An experience of source while
in a physical body. Transcendence.
Neptune is bliss/confusion that doesn’t really
function in the world of form because this
energy is only interested in formless states of
infinite possibility. Think of Deepak Chopra’s
Discontinuity (the space or gap between our
thoughts). That’s Neptune. By the time you
get the message of Neptune, he’s already
‘gone’ because the getting is the realm of
Saturn (the edifice of the ego). Neptune is
outside that.
Neptune denies evidence. Neptune defies logic.
Neptune simply believes - Joanne Wickenburg.
This energy wants to dissolve overly rigid
structures so that you can receive inspiration,
communion, source energy. It is from a place
of ‘uncertainty’ and allowing that creative
originates!
Neptune into Pisces is a
home coming for this planet
The sea god returns to his rightful realm.
There is power there, and relief! Honour this
transition. Allow yourself to get swept up
into the bliss of the unknown. Welcome this
ingress into Pisces like a Muse, a divine lover,
the part of us that takes things on faith.
Neptune says stop thinking and dance!
We are the
inheritors of a
million years of
striving for the
unspeakable.
And now with
the engines of
technology in our
hands we ought
to be able to reach
out and actually
exteriorise the
human soul at the
end of time, invoke
it into existence like
a UFO and open
the violet doorway
into hyperspace and
walk through it, out
of profane history
and into the world
beyond the grave,
beyond shamanism,
beyond the end of
history, into the
galactic millennium
that has beckoned
to us for millions of
years across space
and time.
THIS IS THE
MOMENT
A planet
brings forth an
opportunity like
this only once in its
lifetime, and we are
ready, and we are
poised. And as a
community we are
ready to move into
it, to claim it, to
make it our own.
After being married for thirty years a wife asked her husband to describe
her. He looked at her for a bit and said, “You’re A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K.”
She asks, “What does that mean?”
He said, “Adorable, Beautiful, Cute, Delightful, Elegant, Foxy, Gorgeous, Hot.”
She smiled happily and said, “Oh that’s so lovely… what about I, J, K?”
He said, “I’m Just Kidding!”
Six retired Irishmen were playing poker in O’Leary’s apartment when
Paddy Murphy loses $500 on a single hand, clutches his chest and drops
dead at the table.
Michael O’Connor looks around and asks, ‘Oh, me boys, someone’s got to tell
Paddy’s wife.’
They draw straws. Paul Gallagher picks the short one. They all tell him to be
discreet, be gentle and don’t make it any worse.
‘Discreet??? I’m the most discreet Irishmen you’ll ever meet. Discretion is me
middle name. Leave it to me.’
Gallagher goes over to Murphy’s house and knocks on the door.
Mrs. Murphy answers, and asks what he wants.
Gallagher explains, ‘Your husband just lost $500 and he’s afraid to come
home.’
‘Tell him to drop dead’, says Murphy’s wife.
‘I’ll go tell him.
A Mexican maid asked for a pay increase. The wife didn’t like it and
decided to talk to her about the raise.
She asked: “Now Maria, why do you want a pay increase?”
Maria: “Well, Señora, there are tree reasons why I wanna increaze.”
The first is that I iron better than you.”
Wife: “Who said you iron better than me?”
Maria: “Jor huzban he say so.”
Wife: “Oh yeah?”
Maria: “The second reason eez that I am a better cook than you.”
Wife: “Nonsense, who said you were a better cook than me?”
Maria: “Jor hozban did.”
Wife increasingly agitated: “Oh he did, did he???”
Maria: “The third reason is that I am better at sex than you in the bed.”
Wife, really boiling now: “And did my husband say that as well?”
Maria: “No Señora…The gardener did.”
Wife: “So how much do you want?”
EXIPHILES . . .
• To write with a broken pencil is pointless.
• When fish are in schools they sometimes take debate.
• A thief who stole a calendar got twelve months.
• A dentist and a manicurist married. They fought tooth and nail.
• A will is a dead giveaway.
• You are stuck with your debt if you can’t budge it.
• A boiled egg is hard to beat.
• Police were called to a day care where a three-year-old was resisting
a rest.
• Did you hear about the fellow whose left side was cut off? He’s all
right now.
• If you take a laptop computer for a run you could jog your memory.
• A bicycle can’t stand alone; it is two tired.
• When a clock is hungry it goes back four seconds.
• He had a photographic memory which he never developed.
• Those who get too big for their britches will be exposed in the end.
A man and his wife were
awakened at 3am by a loud
pounding on the door. The
man gets up and goes to the
door where a drunken stranger,
standing in the pouring rain, is
asking for a push.
“Not a chance,” says the
husband, “it is 3:00 in the
morning!” He slams the door and
returns to bed.
“Who was that?” asked his wife.
“Just some drunk guy asking for
a push,” he answers.
“Did you help him?” she asks.
“No, I did not, it’s 3 in the
morning and it’s pouring rain out
there!”
“Well, you have a short memory,”
says his wife. “Can’t you
remember about three months
ago when we broke down, and
those two guys helped? I think
you should.”
The man does as he is told, gets
dressed, and goes out into the
pouring rain.
He calls out into the dark, “Hello,
are you still there?”
“Yes,” comes back the answer.
“Do you still need a push?” calls
out the husband.
“Yes, please!” comes the reply
from the dark.
“Where are you?” asks the
husband.
“Over here on the swing,”
I took my dad to the mall the
other day to buy new shoes… he
is sixty six.
We decided to grab a bite at
the food court. I noticed he was
watching a teenager sitting next
to him who had spiked hair in
all different colors - green, red,
orange, and blue.
My dad kept staring at her.
The teenager kept looking and
found my dad staring every time.
When the teenager had had
enough, she sarcastically asked:
“What’s the matter old man,
never done anything wild in your
life?”
Knowing my Dad I quickly
swallowed my food so that I
would not choke on his response;
I knew he’d have a good one!
In his classic style he responded
without batting an eyelid…
“Got stoned once and spent the
night with a parrot. I was just
wondering if you might actually
be my kid.”
