Ethanol Flex-Fuel • The flex-fuel engine is a highly creative invention. It enables consumers to use gasoline, ethanol or any blend of the two. • Ethanol costs approximately 40% less than gasoline at the fuel pump in Brazil. This generates competitiveness for the entire economy because it helps keep down the price of gasoline. Also, greenhouse gas emissions are significantly reduced, making ethanol a “green fuel”. • The Brazilian automotive industry developed the first ethanol-powered car in 1976. But the real breakthrough came with the development of flex-fuel technology in 2003. Source: Anfavea
