Ethanol The success of <strong>Brazil</strong>’s ethanol program has been driven by two key factors: ► R&D on genetic improvement of sugarcane ► Technological innovation in the automotive industry <strong>Brazil</strong> is the world’s sixth-largest producer and fifth-largest market of automotive vehicles. It produced more than 3 million in 2007. The number of vehicles in circulation exceeds 26 million. Today ethanol accounts for over 50% of the fuel use, including E25 gasoline mixture. Source: ANP
