Business Opportunities for New Competitors:
There are approximately 85 million worldwide phone subscribers
through a mobile virtual operator (MVNO).
The largest companies by number of subscribers operating in the U.S. market:
• Tracfone with 15 million subscribers (the America Móvil group);
• Virgin Mobile with 5 million worldwide subscribers (acquired by Sprint in 2009)
According to the consultancy E-Consulting Corp., the MVNOs will reach 6.5% of
penetration in Brazilian market.
