As a consultant to Nespresso for the last few
years, I offer perspectives on the company
concept from the barista profession.
What is your favourite coffee recipe?
Espresso.

place to enjoy a coffee in your hometown would
be....
Mornings at Klostergatans Vin & Delikatess
before it opens to the public. This sets the
mood for the rest of the day.
What elements or setting do you need for your
own personal coffee moment or ritual?
An open mind and sharpened senses.

is that....
A truly great coffee experience is the result
of many people’s craftsmanship and passion

What is your connection with the world of
Nespresso?
I was born in a coffee culture. I am from
Brazil and my family has a small farm. On
the farm we grow coffee beans for our own
consumption. I have been drinking coffee
since I was five years old, so it makes me
happy to work for a company that devotes
itself to providing the best Espresso.
What is your favourite coffee recipe?
Cappuccino. I was introduced to
Cappuccino when I moved to New York six
years ago.
If Nespresso were not available, the best time
& place to enjoy a coffee in your hometown
would be....
My home at any time. I don’t go out for a
coffee when I can be my own barista. I have
my own Nespresso machine, and when my
friends come to my house they always ask
for Espresso drinks.
What elements or setting do you need for
your own personal coffee moment or ritual?
Actually I don’t need any special setting.
Espresso is like wine for me. It’s relaxing
and takes the stress away.
The most intriguing or inspiring aspect of
coffee is that....
The most intriguing aspect of coffee is
that you can grow coffee in many different
countries and places, but it takes the
perfect set of circumstances to grow the
perfect coffee beans. That is why I have
such appreciation for Nespresso, because
they care enough about the excellence of
coffee to choose the best beans to go into
their 12 blends.

I have been working on the implementation
of the Nespresso AAA Program for almost
three years.
What is your favourite coffee recipe?
I am a coffee lover. A very good coffee itself
is my favourite recipe.
If Nespresso were not available, the best time
& place to enjoy a coffee in your hometown
would be....
At weekends, in the late afternoon, on the
porch of my parents’ house.
What elements or setting do you need for your
own personal coffee moment or ritual?
For me it is most important to have the
time to enjoy a very good coffee. And then,
something to think about or analyze. This
special time out often allows me to gain a
different perspective on things.

A shot of espresso, very short (Ristretto), or
“Caffè Affogato”: Espresso poured over ice
cream.

Early in the morning at home.

A hot cup and a little sugar.

is that....
It is dark and creamy, it comes from exotic and
fascinating countries, and it is full of body and
energising.
What is your connection with the world of
Nespresso?
I am at its heart, tasting coffee always and
again to ensure the harmony of each and
every Nespresso Grand Cru. For me this is
the first step for a coffee to express its true
personality in the cup.
What is your favourite coffee recipe?
An ice-cold coffee for a refreshing and pure
long coffee drink.
If Nespresso were not available, the best time
& place to enjoy a coffee in your hometown
would be....
Although I am very critical about coffee,
there’s nothing like sharing a cup of coffee
after a homemade dinner at any one of my
friends’ places.
What elements or setting do you need for
your own personal coffee moment or ritual?
I know my coffee moment has arrived
when my coffee is prepared with fresh
grind, extracted with simmering water, and
served in a nice porcelain or a glass cup.
The most intriguing or inspiring aspect of
coffee is that....
No two coffees are alike, and like wine,
a coffee’s character is determined by the
passion that goes into it. A good coffee
reveals the passion of all those involved in
its origination.
