As a consultant to Nespresso for the last few<br />

years, I offer perspectives on the company<br />

concept from the barista profession.<br />

What is your favourite coffee recipe?<br />

Espresso.<br />

place to enjoy a coffee in your hometown would<br />

An open mind and sharpened senses.<br />

What is your connection <strong>with</strong> the world of<br />

Nespresso?<br />

I was born in a coffee culture. I am from<br />

Brazil and my family has a small farm. On<br />

the farm we grow coffee beans for our own<br />

consumption. I have been drinking coffee<br />

since I was five years old, so it makes me<br />

happy to work for a company that devotes<br />

itself to providing the best Espresso.<br />

What is your favourite coffee recipe?<br />

Cappuccino. I was introduced to<br />

Cappuccino when I moved to New York six<br />

years ago.<br />

If Nespresso were not available, the best time<br />

& place to enjoy a coffee in your hometown<br />

would be....<br />

My home at any time. I don’t go out for a<br />

coffee when I can be my own barista. I have<br />

my own Nespresso machine, and when my<br />

friends come to my house they always ask<br />

for Espresso drinks.<br />

What elements or setting do you need for<br />

your own personal coffee moment or ritual?<br />

Actually I don’t need any special setting.<br />

Espresso is like wine for me. It’s relaxing<br />

and takes the stress away.<br />

The most intriguing or inspiring aspect of<br />

coffee is that....<br />

The most intriguing aspect of coffee is<br />

that you can grow coffee in many different<br />

countries and places, but it takes the<br />

perfect set of circumstances to grow the<br />

perfect coffee beans. That is why I have<br />

such appreciation for Nespresso, because<br />

they care enough about the excellence of<br />

coffee to choose the best beans to go into<br />

their 12 blends.<br />

I have been working on the implementation<br />

of the Nespresso AAA Program for almost<br />

three years.<br />

I am a coffee lover. A very good coffee itself<br />

is my favourite recipe.<br />

At weekends, in the late afternoon, on the<br />

porch of my parents’ house.<br />

For me it is most important to have the<br />

time to enjoy a very good coffee. And then,<br />

something to think about or analyze. This<br />

special time out often allows me to gain a<br />

different perspective on things.<br />

A shot of espresso, very short (Ristretto), or<br />

“Caffè Affogato”: Espresso poured over ice<br />

A hot cup and a little sugar.<br />

The most intriguing or inspiring aspect of coffee<br />

It is dark and creamy, it comes from exotic and<br />

fascinating countries, and it is full of body and<br />

energising.<br />

What is your connection <strong>with</strong> the world of<br />

Nespresso?<br />

I am at its heart, tasting coffee always and<br />

again to ensure the harmony of each and<br />

every Nespresso Grand Cru. For me this is<br />

the first step for a coffee to express its true<br />

personality in the cup.<br />

What is your favourite coffee recipe?<br />

An ice-cold coffee for a refreshing and pure<br />

long coffee drink.<br />

If Nespresso were not available, the best time<br />

& place to enjoy a coffee in your hometown<br />

would be....<br />

Although I am very critical about coffee,<br />

there’s nothing like sharing a cup of coffee<br />

after a homemade dinner at any one of my<br />

friends’ places.<br />

What elements or setting do you need for<br />

your own personal coffee moment or ritual?<br />

I know my coffee moment has arrived<br />

when my coffee is prepared <strong>with</strong> fresh<br />

grind, extracted <strong>with</strong> simmering water, and<br />

served in a nice porcelain or a glass cup.<br />

The most intriguing or inspiring aspect of<br />

coffee is that....<br />

No two coffees are alike, and like wine,<br />

a coffee’s character is determined by the<br />

passion that goes into it. A good coffee<br />

reveals the passion of all those involved in<br />

its origination.<br />
