Visited Kathgodam and Tanakpur in Uttar Pradesh and collected plant<br />

megafossils comprising leaf, fruit and seed-impressions and fossil woods. Visited<br />

Koilabas and Seria Naka areas on Indo-Nepal border and collected leaf- and seedimpressions.<br />

Also, visited Central National Herbarium, Howrah for identification <strong>of</strong><br />

plant fossils collected from different localities <strong>of</strong> Siwaliks.<br />

sediments <strong>of</strong> Nepal Himalaya<br />

Palynological investigations <strong>of</strong> the Siwalik succession from the Surai Khola<br />

and Aljun Khola areas have been completed. A rich palyn<strong>of</strong>loral assemblage has been<br />

recovered which consists <strong>of</strong> 67 genera and 92 species belonging to gymnospermous<br />

and angiospermous pollen, pteridophytic spores, algal zygospores and fungal spores<br />

and ascostromata. Several palynoassociations have been recognised between 12 to 2<br />

Ma. The data has been plotted against a chronostratigraphic control based on the<br />
