International conferences abroad. Besides, 41 scientists participated in the Golden Jubilee<br />
Conference <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Institute</strong>. Eleven scientists <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Institute</strong> delivered lectures in other<br />
organisations. Pr<strong>of</strong>. Afsar Abbas, <strong>Institute</strong> <strong>of</strong> Physics, Bhubaneshwar deHvered a lecture on<br />
"Dark Matter <strong>of</strong> Cosmology and Periodic Mass Extinction".<br />
During the year the <strong>Institute</strong>'s scientists undertook about 35 field excursions. About<br />
2575 fossil specimens and 2645 rock samples from 182 localities <strong>of</strong> the country were collected<br />
and deposited in the Museum.<br />
The <strong>Institute</strong> has provided technical assistance and consultancy services to personnel<br />
from var'ious universities and organisations in the field <strong>of</strong> electron microscopy, palynology,<br />
identification <strong>of</strong> fossil remains and radiocarbon dating. The Herbarium facilities were<br />
extended to scientists from various universities, institutes and colleges. Fossil specimens<br />
and u'ans-slides were gifted to 12 educational institutions. Visitors and scientists from our<br />
