EVENTS Martin Luther King Jr. Day In Elkton, the community churches, local students and officials participate in events honoring the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., such as a March from the Todd County/ Elkton Park to the Todd County Central High School auditorium for a tribute program. Eggstravaganza and Carnival Carnival rides, vendor booths, and yard sale booths entertain the community of Elkton. Set up on a Thursday evening at the old Elkton Die Cast property, the event continues throughout the weekend ending late Saturday night. Admission on event grounds is free, though charges apply to carnival rides. Bike Night Trenton From Memorial Day through October, bikers and bike enthusiasts gather at the Elkton suare every Thursday afternoon. There are generally local bands for entertainment. Food vendors set up on the square and local restaurants offer “Bike Night” specials. Jefferson Davis Days The first weekend in June, this event at the Jefferson Davis Monument State Historic Site in Fairview, commemorates the birthday of the only president of the Confederacy. The “Days” involve elaborate Civil War battle re-enactments complete with authentic cannons, troop camps and tents. The festivities also include a picnic basket auction, the Miss Confederacy pageant and a grand ball. 400-Mile Yard Sale Dozens of communities, hundreds of yard sales, antique shops, food vendors and fundraisers participate in the annual four day event the first weekend in June. Thursday through Sunday, shop the 400 miles along 68-80 from Maysville to Paducah, including many stops in Todd County. Allegre Volunteer Fire Department Around the beginning of June, the Allegre Volunteer fire Department holds its annual fundraiser with barbecue, live music, a cake walk, go-kart rides and an auction. Relay for Life Kicking off June is Relay for Life. This event raises money for cancer research and honors cancer survivors, those who have lost their lives to the disease or have been touched by it in any way. Local businesses, clubs and churches set up booths to sell food, treats, toys,etc. Individual “teams” host events in conjunction with the big night. There are also games, ceremonies and a talent show. Heart of Trenton/ Main Street Festival Traditionally the last weekend in June, the streets of Trenton are turned into a festival and yard sale where you can find homemade ice cream, furniture, fresh produce and an occasional rare find. Guthrie Volunteer Fire Department The Guthrie Volunteer Fire Department hosts a barbecue chicken dinner at Heritage Days.
